Joshua vs Whyte RBR
Re: Joshua vs Whyte RBR
AJ is all a bit Wladimir Klitchko. Amazing power, fast hands, but needs a stationary target.
Every Mike Tyson meets an Evander Holyfield. Whyte wasn't quite Evander tonight but he had a good go and neutralized Joshua after making it through round 1.

So you base it on what you "imagine" or what he "may" do? Seems a tad unfair.Horse wrote:He's a cheater and he is very sinister.SNG wrote:Horse, why do you dislike Joshua so much?
I can imagine him just being very rude and dismissive to people for no real reason.
I think he may well do serious harm to someone outside of the ring and ruin his career.
I think tonight showed what level he is at and that he still has a lot to learn. He punched himself out in the first and got caught with a silly shot in the 2nd. He needs to learn how to manage these situations better but let's be honest, a lot of the Joshua/Hearn haters were expecting him to be flat on his back as soon as Whyte landed.
I'm also impressed Whyte managed to get his shorts on over those massive balls of his - stood up to some serious punishment and even though he was a bit naughty at the end of the 1st, he deserves a lot of credit.

I did.big lennox wrote:Very good fight. I was disappointed by how cold and ungracious Joshua was in victory. He never checked to see if Whyte was ok, after a bad knockout, and refused to give him credit in the post fight interview. I didn't like to see that.
At least Joshua wasn't being a phony. He doesn't care and he didn't pretend that he did.
I'm starting to like him more, even though he is clearly a very dodgy person.
Re: Joshua vs Whyte RBR
Entertaining fight.
I think it does prove a few things beyond doubt about Joshua:
1. He's not ready for the step up to world level any time soon. Whyte is British/fringe Euro level at best and had him seriously buzzed in the 2nd round. A more skilled operater like Haye or Klitschko would have finished him there. They need to keep him on this British/fringe Euro level for another couple of fights at least. Chisora would be a logical next fight.
2. I'm not sure his power is as devastating as people make out. Sure it was a great uppercut to finish it but how many shots did he land flush on Whyte and not even drop him prior to that.
3. He does have stamina which is an asset as the higher up he goes in level the harder it will be for him to get people out of there quickly.
4. Questions remain about his chin. Whyte is a good but not devastating puncher and had Joshua in real trouble in the 2nd. I'm not sure he'd be able to take clean shots from the likes of Haye.

He was in most people's opinion though, went from being a scrawny feather weight getting bashed about to a Terminator several divisions above.Ricky_ wrote:Nightmare Roy wrote:I could listen to Paulie all day, he really knows all aspects of boxing.Baboon wrote:

Malignaggi is an asshole. He ranted for years about Pacquiao being on PED's

It's not unfair at all.the_doctor wrote:So you base it on what you "imagine" or what he "may" do? Seems a tad unfair.
He's cheated many times now and he has not seemed at all repentant for it in interviews.
I don't like the guy.

Scrawny? You need to check out his weigh-in pictures. He was a major drainer at the lower weights, and has a very thick skeleton (wrist measurements for example), Malignaggi knows this.

You really aren't a fan are you? He does seem a bit aloof though.Horse wrote:He seems like a bad egg.SNG wrote:Why do you think that though?
Does he seem like a nice guy to you?
My instincts tell me to stay away from him, because he is dangerous.
I wouldn't want anyone that I cared about around him for very long.

Just because he's a nasty piece of work it doesn't mean that people shouldn't support him.
I'd just like people to acknowledge that he's not a very nice type of person.

Bruno er I mean Joshua will struggle against a tall boxer. He was outjabbed by the smaller Whyte at times and lacks movement. Has he fought anyone as tall as him in the pros?

Re: Joshua vs Whyte RBR
Joshua needs rounds, this was a great learning fight for him, more of the same at a similar level before he steps up to Euro level.
Suspicions of Brunoesque chin and stamina are still there for me but fights like tonight should build both.
I would make Hughie Fury favorite against him.

Has there been a genuine heavyweight champion do it? Beating Herbie Hide or that fat Haitian (can't even remember his name) for a devalued strap doth not a heavyweight champion make.

Not the bookies favorite, the bookies think Joshua would beat Tyson!
I think Hughie will win, Hughie is a class act.
