Arreola if he trains and comes in shape which is a huge IF nowadays.
Re: Chris Arreola vs. Travis Kauffman - December 13th 2015
This is a pretty solid match-up. They are both borderline top 50 at this point in time. Arreola has consistently been matched either actively, aggressively, or both. That is one thing that I can respect. Kauffman has taken a long time to step up, but he's taking a shot at Arreola at the right time, and he's likely never going to even reach gatekeeper status if he can't win this one.

The well trained well prepared Arreolla can crush Kaufman.
The fat out of shape Arreolla will go life and death with Kaufman.
Either way Arreolla is almost always in a fun fight.

Arreola wins. He lost a lot of weight and trained this camp.

If you're betting on Arreola at this stage of his career you need protection from yourself because you aren't very risk-averse. I do think he wins here but don't trust the guy whatsoever with my money. He's a shot fighter. This is really just a matter of who will suck less.

Re: Chris Arreola vs. Travis Kauffman - December 13th 2015
Just to have a new face among the contenders in the heavyweight division I'm pulling for Kauffman to pull an upset.
The trouble is, Arreola seems to hang around like a bad hangover.
Whenever he's matched up in one of these crossroads-like fights he knocks his opponent out ( as he did with Minto, Molina, Mitchell etc. ), but then fails miserably whenever he gets a shot at a championship level fighter. It's always the same story with him.
So, I'd like to see Kauffman rise to the occasion & finally reduce Arreola to journeyman status once & for all. Unfortunately, however, the only time that I've ever seen Kauffman fight was in his lone attempt to step up in status himself vs Tony Grano when he got belted out in 4 or 5 rounds. So, I don't have a whole lot of faith in his chances in this one.

You know what's interesting?
There is a fan poll here for Arreola-Kauffman and Martin-Breazeale, and no poll for the midget fight.
But they call the midget fight the headliner. When will promoters learn that fans like the bigger boys? Probably never.

Everybody does except the stupid promoters.

Arreola didn't even deserve the draw he got against Fred Kassi when he was apparently next in line to face Wilder so I wouldn't be surprised to see him lose to Kaufmann...

Kaufmann's a bit older and I'm gonna guess that since he isn't dead, wiser. If he just fights his fight, he'll be fine and probably beat Arreola into retirement.

Re: Chris Arreola vs. Travis Kauffman - December 13th 2015
Thought Kaufman won a good fight. Good to see two guys go pretty hard for 12 rounds.
Re: Chris Arreola vs. Travis Kauffman - December 13th 2015
Had it 114-113 for Arreola, could have been the same score the other way. Kauffman blew it in the last 3 rounds, glad he lost...
Re: Chris Arreola vs. Travis Kauffman - December 13th 2015
I also had it 114-113 Arreola.
If the decision went the other way that would been fine too, close fight, could have went either way.
Once again Arreola is involved in an entertaining fight.
What we saw from Arreola tonight is probably the absolute best he has to offer at this point, I hope they keep matching him properly.

Kauffmann won that bout by at least a point, maybe even 2. They gave it to the more popular fighter.

Re: Chris Arreola vs. Travis Kauffman - December 13th 2015
IMO, Kauffman probably lost that fight back at camp when he failed to push himself to run that extra mile or two every day or spar those extra couple of rounds, because if he had, he would have had that extra bit of conditioning that he obviously needed in order to maintain control of the contest through those final three or four rounds. But, his tank ran low & it allowed Arreola to gain control in those last couple-few rounds. Overcoming the advantage that Kauffman had had by scoring that knockdown in round three.
On my scorecard I still had Kauffman with a 2 point edge in the end, but some of the middle rounds were close enough to have been scored either way, so a split nod either way or even a draw would have been fair.
Actually, both men can take advantage of this fight & the exposure they got from it if them & their people are smart & proactive.
With the win & whatever trinket of a belt he just picked up, Arreola should be in a bit of demand as a name opponent for another contender looking for a TV fight or an up & coming younger heavy looking for a win over a name fighter. Either way, Arreola should have another good money fight next.
And Kauffman will probably be seen as unlucky to have not gotten the win with his decent performance, even though he did fade down the stretch. I'm sure promoters, managers with other heavies & the various TV people will be happy to use him again. As long as he stays in shape, waits by the phone & doesn't get lazy & fat. Same goes for Arreola.

Watched the highlights in the PBC YouTube channel. Looked a pretty good fight actually. Both fighters looked in terrible shape though.
Re: Chris Arreola vs. Travis Kauffman - December 13th 2015
VERY Entertaining Fight. Neither guy a threat to Joe Louis's 25 HW defenses or anything, but a good scrap nonetheless.
Neither guy sculpted but they had decent wind. More HEAVYWEIGHT Fights like this should be made and Shown on TV.
