Reminds me too much of Bruno, always has and last night made it more so with his reaction to getting tagged. Sure he stayed up and won but that was the first real punch he has taken as a pro and it caused a real hot coal walking look about him.

He has the stregnth and power to KO anyone, with good timing and punching technique, so impossible to right him off. However he comes in straight lines with no upper body or head movement, you have to question how he would fare against someone like a sharp shooting banger such as Haye. Fury's performance against klit leads me to believe he would outbox Joshua.

He can go places, but i think he will always be vulnerable to a good boxer who carries power.

I hate to say it but AJ has some proper whopper fans. I was there last night and the shite and filth that was coming out of there mouths. " If Campbell fights like this against a bum think what AJ would do to him but Eddie would never let that fight happen" " OMG there's Tony Bellew, Which one is Bellew again?? , That one there, the Welsh one " Martin Ward was stood by us near to the VIP area and one lad said " oh look there's Luke Campbell, why isn't he wearing his belts?" One complete gobshite behind me was saying something along the lines off, "Whyte isn't nothing, I would get in there if I had too he's all talk" and the amount of fights breaking out all over the place was nuts , never been to a show like it.

These are just some examples.

Not complaining to much was a top night and some decent action.

I'm glad someone else sees some of the similarities between AJ and Bruno. I've been saying the same (to much faux disgust from my 'casual fan' friends).

He's going to be a dangerous HW while in his prime but styles make fights, and i think Joshua will run into a slugger that can take his power then drag him into the trenches & ko him late.

Whyte began the blueprint last night. Just didn't have the power or size to capitalize when the chances came. Great chin though.

Hard to say to be honest, I just know that it was ugly in there at times but I suppose when the 2 corners are acting like there in a pub brawl what are the fans going to do?

Not saying I didn't find the scuffle at the end of the 1st amusing but more than a few lost there heads. I saw 3 fights on the way through the car parkafter.

Personally I didn't like seeing Whyte led there lifeless, especially after what he put into the fight, I know that's boxing ect but I didn't like it. Also think AJ being the great isperation and role model he is :witzend: ....... Shouldnt have done the 4 post celebration before Dillian got the thumbs up but that's just me.

The amount of people shouting " look at him he's a pussy bruv, needs pussy doctors to save him " "haha AJ has killed him" "chat shit get banged bruv" Ect ect

Also, and I know I'm ranting a little here.... But gangs of lads walking to the front of the floor blocks and standing in everyone's way and telling people to fornicate off when asked to sit down was a shame , must of happened 5 times with different groups acting like animals. They clearly didn't have tickets anywhere near there and we're trying there luck , bellends.

Love the big fight atmos but was a step to far last night at times.

Absolute spunk trumpets

What about the cu*t they let in the ring to mumble into the mic telling Whyte to "shut up"? That was an abomination.

I listened to it on the radio last night as I didn;t think it was PPV material, and from the commentary it sounded like a right old 50/50 dingdong right up to the end.

Watching it on Youtube just now, it wasn't really, AJ was in control for most of it. He picks his punches really well and his timing is pretty good. Not sure about his defence though, Whytes seemed better and that's why he was able to negate a lot on AJ's work until the middle rounds. He's got to learn to move his head or Haye or Wilder is going to take it off his shoulders. He carries his hands too low a lot of the time too which is why I think at the moment, he wouldn't beat either of the champions. Fury would use his reach to keep him off and his size to push him around and Wilder (or Haye) would catch him flush and knock him out.

Whoever made the comparison with Bruno is pretty much on the money, he's faster, probably a more intelligent fighter, but just as vulnerable around the chops; if not in questionable resiliance, then in potential for getting caught.

I suspect that he will become a world champion and beat top fighters, but at this point I don't believe it's apparent that he's on his way to being an all-time great or anything close to that magnitude, nor do I think that he would already run through pretty much everyone in the division. He's got some clear holes in his game and could use some more work before tackling the elite.

Boxrec is a form of solace.

It's good to see (for the most part) sensible (if differing) opinions on this subject.

Trying to converse with a 'casual/on the bandwagon fan' is like trying to convince Roy Jones JR to retire.

He stepped in a boxing ring for the first time in his life in 2008/9. I wouldn't expect him to be performing at the best of his potential for another few years yet. He has the physical attributes undoubtedly but he isn't going to be allowed to develop properly every fight is on TV and PPV now at that.... He will have learned more from that fight last night though than he has his full career so far. But if he had have walked through Whyte then there would have been pressure on him to step it up again and he would have been absolutely flattened in Khan vs Prescott style.

There are seriously defensive corrections needed as he is bolt up right and stiff and an easy target, he is great offensively but he has very ponderous footwork.

I wouldn't call them AJ fans, these divs exist at every big, overhyped show that takes place in the UK. It's always easy to spot genuine fans at boxing, they are usually the ones sitting in their seats watching the undercard. Always makes me laugh when you see people propping up th bar when the chief support fight is on! Plenty go just so they can talk about 'being at the boxing' when down the pub a week later.

Which will always be an issue, he was 19/20 when he came into the sport. He will never be a natural. How many greats began the sport so late? Most were being taught since early teens or even earlier and doing it since such formative years makes things happen more habitual and on pure instincts.

Joshua is the very definition of a manufactured fighter but lack of depth and quality on the horizon may see him move to the top anyway

No change. Balls deep. I have a feeling, if he isn't too ruined, Whyte will go on to be a factor in this division and make this Joshua win look better with time.

I'm finding this more towards being the norm now at the big arena shows. Coked up bell-ends everywhere. Eddie Hearn is doing a good job marketing these shows to the football/lad bible brigade, but it kind of sucks for 'proper' boxing fans.

Sergio Martinez wasn't too bad and think he was 20 when he started. It happens from time to time but takes extreme natural ability. Being a heavyweight helps though as the actual quality in the division from top to bottom is nearly always weaker than the weakest piss when compared to every other division. Watching heavyweight boxing is almost like watching a different sport when compared to the lower weight classes, the skills on display are light years apart.

Sergio is a good shout, thanks. It is rare though.

In fairness, he is a lot less robotic and stiff than in his first few fights. A few nice timed hooks and shot placement with fluidity and ducking from incoming shots. But I have a feeling here that it will never be natural and that he can be stunned easier than we would like.

Lack of depth as we both have said will help him though

Hatton helped attract the morons. He tapped into the football support. Someting you see quite often at the big shows now are groups of women going to the fight all dolled up as if going to a club. Weird. The likely lads, extras off of The Only Way Is Essex are good for a giggle too, who can strut hardest is a great contest

For Joshua, I think last night was a good wake-up call. Anyone can blow away low level opponents and look great. The hype was getting too much and this will settle it down a bit.

The things that are worrying are he got caught and went wobbly, he also took a body shot at the end of that 2nd round and nearly stopped moving altogether, he looked like he was stuck in quicksand and it took him the 3rd round to get his legs back and look more mobile.

During that 2nd round he reminded me a little of Pricey and I thought we might have another one on our hands, that he might just totally gas and buckle under the pressure. It's to his immense credit that he didn't and that he found some more energy and really got his wind back. By the end he looked very strong again, proving he has decent stamina and heart.

So he's lost some of the invincibility now, those people shouting that he'd easily beat Tyson Fury best shut up now. All those mug fans who don't respect boxing, or levels, or understand the sport at all.

anybody remember a certain mr. Fury's first fight against John Mcdermott ?, he nearly fell to pieces in that fight but came through to a scrappy win ( which he probably lost ) and look what he has gone on to do . I wouldn't read too much into last nights fight and apart from one round dominated against tough opposition.

I've withdrawn at least four or five inches, but leaving the bell end in. He didn't look great but still closed the show and most prospects have a night or two where they look a bit ropey.

He's not as good as I thought he was from last nights performance, but you're on,y as good as your last fight in boxing and if he blows out a good contender in his next fight or two I may reinsert the shaft.....
