What makes Whyte HYPER in round 1?

Post by Davidreed »

What you would say about round 1 of Joshua vs Whyte fight? Is it was that punches of Joshua that makes him angry or it was some other reason?

He was hurt so could have been looking for an easier way out, probably split second thinking but he regrouped well

My original view is that - we will never know I guess. I thought Jim Watt was spot on in suggesting that Whyte was looking for a DQ.

I just assumed Whyte was aware of Joshua's penchant for hitting after the bell & was letting him know he wouldn't stand for it.

Yep, it certainly looked that way to me.

Thought he wanted it outside, so when Joshua hit him split second after the bell he saw a way to get at him like he would on the streets. Fighters will react to being hit.

What was worrying was how many of Whytes entourage jumped in the ring yet only Banks was trying to get him in the corner.

It certainly shows that the 2 guys genuinely don't like each other.

I didn't see the fight, but Eddie is often the first to jump in the ring - I guess he didn't bother this time ?

On sky sports news they say that Whyte incited a melee in the ring, was Joshua throwing punches ages after bell well known and Whyte reacting to it. What the expect. He didn't even take point off AJ for that. Ridiculous

Whyte is a worrior, no way he was looking for an easy way out, he could have took a knee/took a fall loads of times but hardly took a backward step.

It was the definition of going out on your shield.
Like some others have said, he just didn't want to be bullied in there.

The way Joshua reacted I hope they do meet in the streets, be a total different story. Whyte would destroy him

Joshua's punch was on the bell, maybe just after.

Whyte's initial response was fair game but he could have easily been DQ'd for carrying it on; it was about 10 seconds after the bell and he nearly knocked out Howard Foster!

On the bell? Did you watch the fight? It wasn't milliseconds your talking 2,3 seconds after bell, he through 2 or 3 shots flush while Whyte had stopped

Here it is:

I don't think it's bad. He throws a straight right before the bell then follows up with the left hook maybe a second late. The left hook in question was caught on the glove of Whyte who had his guard up anticipating it coming behind the straight.

I don't think it was a particularly late, it wasn;t a clean hurtful shot that landed, nor had Whyte stopped, his reaction was unnecessary.

The angle doesn't show it, he lands with a right also it's 2 shots . Jonathan banks was the man and done his job to perfection calming it down. AJ does it because he knows he will get away with it

The blood was up, there was obvious needle pre fight, and Whyte was making it clear he wouldn't wear it.

I thought Whyte got caught up in the moment and lost his head for a few moments.

It's exciting times for British fans. America had Bowe and Judah the P4P melee kings.
Bowe starting a riot in Madison square garden is the GOAT melee.

We got lucky and found a natural riot starter in Herbie Hide who took the Americans on at their own game. No leisure centre was safe in Norwich in the mid 90s from the occasional chair fling.

Hopefully Whyte can improve over the next few fights. Bigger entourage would help. Maybe hire legendary manager Rock Newman. Teddy Atlas in to replace Banks.

Be great to have a bad boy.
