Updating the BOXREC Forum Heavyweight Rankings CLOSED

Post by jezzamundo »

BWH Rankings as of 12 December 2015:

Champion: Tyson Fury
1. Wladimir Klitschko
2. Alexander Povetkin
3. Deontay Wilder
4. Kubrat Pulev
5. Bryant Jennings
6. Carlos Takam
7. Vyacheslav Glazkov
8. Ruslan Chagaev
9. Artur Szpilka
10. Dereck Chisora
11. Bermane Stiverne
12= Malik Scott
12= Erkan Teper
14. Steve Cunningham
15. Anthony Joshua

Topic A - How are the rankings affected by Joseph Parkers' TK03 win over Kali Meehan and TK01 win over Daniel Martz?

My vote: Parker and Martz both remain unranked.

Topic B - How are the rankings affected by Anthony Joshua's KO7 win over Dillian Whyte?

My vote: Joshua remains at #15, Whyte remains unranked.

Topic C - How are the rankings affected by Dereck Chisora's TKO5 win over Peter Erdos and TKO3 win over Jakov Gospic?

My vote: Chisora remains at #10, Erdos and Gospic remain unranked.

Note: This topic is for voting on the rankings of Parker, Meehan, Martz, Joshua, Whyte, Chisora, Erdos and Gospic. Posting your own top 15 will not count as a vote. Please cast your vote in the manner than I have done above.

Parker up to clear #12 (ahead of Scott and Teper), Martz remains unranked
Joshua up to clear #12 (ahead of Scott and Teper), Martz remains unranked
Chisora remains at #10, Erdos and Gospic remain unranked

If there is a more proper way to vote for Joshua > Parker > Scott, then we should try to iron out how that works. Because if I vote for Parker Up To #13, then that will get inferred as being behind Scott and Teper.

If you vote for Parker to #13 and Joshua to #12, that relegates Scott and Teper to equal #14.

Joshua up to #13

Chisora down to #14

I'm not sure if those are the right numbers, but I want Joshua immediately behind Teper and Scott, and Chisora the next guy after Joshua. Unfortunately this gives an undeserved boost to Stiverne, whom I think should be even lower than he currently is, but in my opinion it's a positive change overall. Parker has impressed but due to his relatively weak opposition is just short of a top 15 spot for me.

So why are we voting on Parker? Hes not on the list an he fought no one on the list or even near it. I think we should wait for vacant spots on the list before we vote new people in like we have done in the past.

My vote.

Parker stays out.

He has not yet proven himself worthy for top 15 spot. My guess is he will do it soon.

Chisora up to 9.

Some points for activity here. Also i think he would murder Szpilka who should not even be on this list.

Joshua to 14.

Mostly for activity. Cunningham has done very little lately so i don't mind moving him down for now.

Joshua up to 14th, just behind the two boys who are joint 12th

Chisora remains 10th

Parker up to 15th at the expense of Cunningham who should drop out as he is moving back down to Cruiser.

Obviously all their recent opponents remain unranked.

Parker and Joshua proved much more already as most of the guys I see in this top 15, I think even Whyte is better as Teper and that cruiserweight that already lost against half Europe, and Malic Scott who barely ever fought Europeans

Parker in at 12.
Chisora at 13
Scott at 14=
Spilka at 14=
Cunningham drops out now going to box at cruiserweight.

4. Kubrat Pulev
5. Bryant Jennings
6. Carlos Takam

I can't really accept indecisive votes like this, although happily in this case, it wouldn't have made a difference. Non-mathematical rankings are always somewhat subjective. I don't mind what criteria people use when they vote, as long as they follow the prescribed format, unlike this guy:
