Camp Eddies Ppv's.
Bad night for next years PPV stars. Josh is going to have to fight someone mediocre, it can't be Del, he never landed a punch on Fury and the two he had lined up for Crolla both got beat. Boomer surely can't sell, even for a world title. He's very boring and is highly likely to get sparked again when he steps up. After Frampton-Quigg, there can't be many left. The Smith brothers on a stacked Liverpool card? Probably. Even though their only champ is with FW!
Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
If Joshua v Whyte was PPV Joshua v Chisora will be. I'll try and remember this thread when it is announcedmickey1975 wrote:Bad night for next years PPV stars. Eddie came out and said the fight is impossible to make on PPV and can only be done on a Super-Duper-Pay-Per-View. For 49.99 you get to watch Chisora-Joshua, Mitchell in another world title eliminator and Bellew defend the euro title against a guy called Marius from Riga.

Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
Someone who knows about this stuff reckon that Sky want lots more PPV's next year, i.e. monthly. Mitchell and Campbell getting spanked hasnt helped and no wonder he was bricking it about Joshua. Now he knows that he can sell eliminators or British title fights as PPV expect next year Joshua v Chisora, Frampton v Quigg, Brook v Khan, Crolla v Matthews or Flanagan, Joshua v Teper all on PPV plus some "stacked cards" to fill in the gaps

12 PPV's! And some will believe this sh*t!
Everyone said the same about this year - Hearn had 2!
Sky then had two more; one was commercially the biggest fight of all time and the other was a Brit becoming unified Heavyweight champion of the world.

Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
12 PPV's isn't that far fetched.
WWE usually have a PPV a month as does the UFC. I know that's the USA market but the WWE there are eight of those on PPV over here in the UK.
You're not saying that Hearn & Sky higher ups aren't thinking that business model can work for boxing are you? Because they have already proven that it does, WWE style hype to build up "genuine" grudge matches & British title matches as PPV has already shown that the general public will fork out the cash, no reason they won't now get greedy & increase the PPV schedule.

Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
Every Joshua fight will be PPV, unless he gets beat or suddenly needs a warm-up if he gets injured or something.
There are likely to be at least 4 PPVs in first half of 2016 - Feb: Frampton-Quigg. April: Joshua-?. Then Fury-Klitschko. June: Khan-Brook. Then a July one with Joshua again.

Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
Just read an interview with the Camp one where he stated that Joshua's next fight will have to be PPV because saturdays numbers "blew my mind"
So thats from the horses mouth, announcing PPV before the opponenent even
Thats it,im done with that pudendum, ive always grudged paying my PPV but have ALWAYS bought through gritted teeth because i hate the thought of missing any action, not any more fvck em and Sky,allegedly just started on freeview today so i'll happily pay the 12 pound a month instead of SS on top of my virgin bill

WWe doing that has also massively devalued there product, and buy rate..... hence the move into subscription format. Sometimes less can be more, to many PPV's and it won't feel like a grandstand event , it will turn into £17.95 friday fight nights.
It's a super fine line to tread, but i think 1 per qtr is the most they can get away with, unless there is something special like May/Pac & Wlad/ Fury available by chance same month.

Sometimes they are worth buying. Most of the time they are not. The advent of technology should render ppv meaningless for those in the know.
Most of the world could watch his ppv cards without paying ppv ie polish tv etc, just have to keep an eye out for this.

Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
No doubt we will see the ppv cards increase. They are getting big numbers. No surprise really as sky go into overdrive hyping them. It's unfair on us boxing fans to have to pay for sky sports and ppv on top. Maybe more would be better for some boxing fans as could then scrap sky sports subscription and just pay for ppv boxing. I really wouldn't of minded paying for the bill on sat if it weren't the fact I already pay a ridiculous amount for sky sports subscription. We will have a minimum of 4 matchroom ppv's next year. Frampton vs Quigg being the 1st and then Joshua's next fight in April being the 2nd, with Crolla vs Mitchell falling through. There'll be a big summer fight maybe Brook vs Khan with a bit of luck and then another stacked bill next december. I could easily see 2 more slotted in for around 6 matchroom ppv's and then obviously we have Fury vs Klitschko re-match.
Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
WWE's numbers are through the floor, they have over saturated the market without the quality to keep up. What sort of fights could Matchroom/SKY put on to justify a PPV every month or even every 2 months ?

Those I can deal with.
Those are big fights which justify PPV
but that's 2 fights. There are very few other potential match ups next year which could justify ppv for me.

Fury v Klitschko nailed on PPV, every Joshua fight (at least 3), GGG v Canelo, Brook v Khan, Quigg v Frampton, 7 there, plus some "stacked cards" with Bellew going for world title maybe doubled up with Crolla defence, Degale v Smith, Degale v Groves 2, we"ll definitely get at least 10 next year

Joshua v Audley
Crolla vs Burns vs Mitchell vs Campbell, also bear in mind Barroso just fought on PPV so he's now a PPV fighter
Bellew vs Cleverly 4
Quigg vs Frampton
DeGale vs Smith vs Groves
I dont want to say any more as im clearly taking piss on most but Camp E will be licking his lips

Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
Oh I agree, however the monthly PPV's in the UK for the WWE did last several years before their online subscription service started providing it considerably cheaper. I'm not saying they'd start off with a PPV every month, but they'll start to become more & more regular.Yes We Can wrote:moogie101 wrote:12 PPV's isn't that far fetched.

Also I think you're being slightly naïve, the last few Hearn PPV's on Sky (obviously I'm not including Pac vs. Mayweather or Wlad vs. Fury) have been far from "grandstand events" instead just domestic level fights that you'd expect to get included as part of the Sky Sports package and instead they've made Sky money. Obviously this has been noticed & I don't see those in charge of boxing on Sky thinking long term for the sport they just see boxing PPV's as a way to bring in more cash.

Re: Camp Eddies Ppv's.
Good question. But I believe with the expansion of media, I'm not sure it is. To my mind, more likely I think subscription channels are the future, designated by interest. IE there will be a boxing channel, a documenatry channel, a news channel. And the consumer will choose which to subscribe to according to his or her tastes. It will make less sense for a channel to offer many varied interests, rather it will be more targeted.Counter-puncher wrote:So does everyone think ppv is the future whether we like it or not?
