Primo Carnera "News"
Terap..as Casper Guttman said to Sam Spade, "By gad sir, you are a character." You claim so many fights were fixed or corrupted by dishonest officials and promoters, and then doa complete reverse and claim Carnara' fights were legit!!!Amazing. I was on my way out the door when I stopped to check in, and I can't reply now, but I will later...but I'm sure orhers will get here first.

I've written about Carnera in here before..praised his courage, stated he diidn't know the vast vast majority of his fights were fixed, including the tanko by Sharkey. That right uppercut that Sharkey aimed his chin at was actually from Carnera's wrist....and if Terap will say that was legit then he has to say the same thing about the other so called"invisible punch" (both highly visible on film and tape) ...Ali's "deadly" right hand to Liston in fight II. Could dig out the records..Chevalier's corner was in the payroll Owney Madden who was the behind the scenes owner of Carnera, when they threw in the towell when Chevalier wasn't even breathing hard...his "fight" with Bill Peterson got both of their purses held....it goes on and on.See if you can find a great, and sympathetic, docummented article by Paiul Gallico.
Just too much history to go into..I just had to enter alesson for Flex on another thread. Couldn't put Loughran down even with an 84 pound weight advantage against a light hitter whom he just mauled....broke Loughran's toe by stepping on his feet.....etc etc..etc.

Not smearing...just educating. Baer didn't have an 84 pound weight advantage and couldn't maul the clever Loughran. Carnera WAS able to push Loughran around , and reach him with his long punches but couldn't mess his hair. Jack Sharkey knocked Loughran cold. Steve Hamas stopped him...both before he fought Carnera.
Carnera could not punch. He could hurt a guy, especially in the body if he was able to get him on the ropes.
Budd Schulberg know as much about boxing as anyone....has been around it all his life...of course he saw films of Carnera....but why go on....you're not going to write about Carnera any more...you're just going to write about people who disagree with you instead.

Carnera had a fair left jab and a long reach and was able to keep Loughran away ....Baer used his left mostly to hold a baton when he was a bandleader.
This is silly, but obviously you know nothing about Budd Schullberg, or the fighters he had a financial iterest in, you have no knowledge of his work inb Watts after the riots, where he taught writing as well as connecting young boxers with promise to good amateur and pro boxing contacts, nor have you ever corresponded with him on the subject ot boxing. He's written about it quite a bit so his opinions are open to scrutiny, unlike yours, except for us here in the forum.
I notice you'vr made no comments about other statements I've made about Carnera, who is the subject of this thread, not Schullberg.
like flex, instead you result in ad hominen (look it up...maybe you'll get a chance to catch me in a spelling error...which you would no doubt use as proof that Carnera was a good fighter. By the way, when you met the man were you as impressed as I was about his gentle nature? You DID meet the man, didn't you?
