Old Tyson vs New Tyson
Old Tyson vs New Tyson
Which one wins? Can Mike reach that high?

Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
The first hard body shot landed by Iron Mike -- about 30 seconds after the opening bell -- causes a dazed and confused Fury to double over, leaving him wide open for a follow-up uppercut that nearly decapitates him. It's a quicker ending than Tyson-Spinks.
Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
What a fornicating press conference that would be
Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
Would be saverese fight or sam scaff fight all over again.people so dismiss mike tyson during 86-88 and 89-91 these days and think all a big modern hw needs to do is clinch and lean on mike and he"ll give up.......its utter nonsense.
People forget mike was an incredible infighter who fought hard in the clinches and could fight 20 rounds with fury.smith, ruddock who were far bigger punchers, better condition more tough and talented than t fury and even wlad, couldnt get it to work for them and paid a bad price and were never the same again

Tyson often had trouble with taller guys, and Fury would be the tallest guy he ever fought, but I can't imagine Mike doesn't eventually catch Fury and knock him out with something. A lunging left hook or overhand right or something most likely.

Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
Joke thread, surely? Mike would win by demolition.
Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
I actually could see this being respectful. Tyson F would be very laid back and cool and jokey... he wouldn't bother with any daftness, and I could see Mike reciprocating the geniality....that is until ring time, at which point things would get serious. At this point I would go with the athlete, 100%. I really don't see that Fury has the snap to do anything with him AT ALL.davie wrote:What a effing press conference that would be
It'd be a fun occasion though.
Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
It seems Fury is overestimated after the last win over Wlad if such a question is asked seriously.
Wlad style was based on size & reach advantage, and without that he fought horrible fight - taking no risks, and landing roughly 4 punches per round. Even in his prime, he rarely looked good agains guys who were as big as he is - like McCline or Thompson (first one, not the rematch when Thompson was way past prime).
Mike was used to cut the ring against bigger opponents, and make them miss their punches with excellent head movement. And I think Fury would be too slow to clinch him effectively.

Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
I read this as the Old Mike Tyson vs. the New Mike Tyson...
Re: Old Tyson vs New Tyson
lol....Fury vs Mike....is what I meant.
I'm not sure how much mileage you can squeeze out of the "two Mike Tyson's" debate.
New Foreman vs Old Foreman? After a decade off? Yeah that's fodder for discussion.
New Ali vs Old Ali? After the legal fight? Yep that's a debate.
Post Jail vs Pre Jail Tyson? I'm thinkin the Old Mike KO's the New Mike in short order. But the New Mike does a lot of trash talkin' before losing big to his quieter more focused version.

Yeah there's no mileage in old Mike vs. new Mike, because the old one (younger one) wins
every time -- right?
Would be fun to watch the best Mike Tyson vs. the best Tyson Fury, but I'd rather
love to see the older version (1990s) of George Foreman fight Tyson Fury!!

lol fair enough....I have to ask, is this because you'd like to see Fury get a full scale humbling?
I think it would a very interesting matching of attitudes. If Fury could piss him off, he has a chance.
I think it would be rather one sided other wise, sort of like Foreman vs Lyle...but without the Lyle punching power to bring balance to the knockdowns.

Interesting match of attitudes indeed!
Although Fury's body type may be similar to Cooney's, their fighting styles are different.
Would be interesting to see if Fury had the stamina and discipline to keep moving out of
harm's way for 12 rounds.
