Matt Scriven is a decent ref, had him ref on my own show earlier this month having not known him personally before, and also he no longer promotes shows, he only has a refs license.... so that puts that idea to bed..
Secondly, someone pointed out that only boxers turned down by bbbofc box on mbc and therfore have an axe to grind.... again incorrect... none of my lads have been turned down by bbbofc nor have i.. admittedly not the biggest stable of boxers but again, most have actually chosen to do mbc, not forced to, some have had no other option obviously and those are the ones you know of as generally they have already boxed bbbofc prior
Fine, if Matt doesn't promote or have any involvement in the running, matchmaking or any other behind the scenes role I have no issue with him reffing.
It was me that said about the 'axe to grind'. What I meant was that on this forum there are only 2 boxers that speak highly of the MBC and by their own admission, they are not happy with their perceived treatment by the bbbofc, hence the 'axe to grind' comment.
Damian, as an MBC promoter what insurance did you have in place for your debut show and what insurance will you have in place for your 2016 show?
Also, what is your understanding of the drug testing policy in place? The MBC are not registered with WADA or UKADA.
Insurance will probably be public liability only drugs policy will probably be get as many in you as you can lol

Ah I see. I think I might have read that before now you say it.

edit: point 4... mentioning " i hope hes not still selling tickets and that everyone gets refunds" sounds like your implying Rio would steal money from people..... Uncalled for in all honesty... hes admitted in the past hes put money into mbc and yet to make anything back... hes lost money in the aim of developing MBC, that to me doesnt sound like a thief
Really !!! Using he's admission that he's yet to make anything back is no excuse for ripping people off.
Perhaps you can explain why Rio's main & ticket hotline number has been conveniently off since ?
Although the MBC may not be up to the full standards that we want, is it fair to say it's far better than nearly all foreign commissions? I'm sure I read somewhere that other commissions don't have fighters do yearly brain scans.

You may be right, some of the commissions in Africa do nothing at all. Not even age verification or blood tests to see if a guy is HIV positive. But that said it shouldn't be used as a plus point in favour of the MBC.
My original questions remain unanswered, which kind of speaks volumes.

Was your original question directed at me or in general? I may have missed it
Mine was - in the other thread (MBC Article in Boxing News)

Should be a vote every year by the members to elect the people in power. The boxers should have more say after all they pay to be represented not the other way about.. Full review of decisions by referee's and judges. I believe an independent panel for any complaint again elected by members. Full disclosure of salary and expenses. A team/department who book the officials for shows. The biggest thing is to stop Mis match fights. There is a boxrec points system for rankings it's not great but pepper matchmaking would improve the sport greatly
Fantastic suggestions. Maybe the mbc if they are to be better than the board could do this? Unlikely to get a look in by the board, but it should definitely be considered if anyone on any council reads this.
In regards to higher profile I was speaking boxers. They could have asked tasif Khan, lee churcher, Craig mcewan or Nathan decastro rather than the ones mentioned. Nothing against the guys mentioned it just seems it's not a fair
Good points daviddee. Although I cant see much chance of such being implemented by either bodys.
Ok Cazelo  maybe your in a position to ask some questions to these high profile boxers and tell us your findings. Lets take the 2 most longstanding Tasif Khan & Nathan Decastro. Ask them how many guaranteed fights they have had training camps & sold tickets for this year (with Khan these are world title fights) that have been cancelled. And then ask for their opinion :??
mickey1975 wrote:So how stringent is the boards drug testing policy? Every boxer, every fight?
No. Its eliminators, british, Commonwealth and above.
There are random tests but they are rare and almost always conducted after a tip off.
Its far from ideal.
I want to know what the MBC do, if anything.
If that was the case, Larry O and Dillian Whyte would not have got nicked. Tony Thompson failed after a non-title fight, Kid Galahad was in a youth title fight.
All the Board's drug testing is carried out by UK Anti-Doping, the government-funded organisation that does all Olympic sports. The Board have no say in drug testing, other than they are signed up to it.

Larry O was nicked from a tip off, but as I understand it, testing gets done on title bills. I'm not sure if all the fights do, but It makes sense seeing as the UK anti-doping testers are already there.
Dillian Whyte's positive test was on a James DeGale bill for the European title.
Tony Thompson was tested because there was British light welterweight title fight on the bill - Darren Hamilton v Adil Anwar from memory.

People dont get tested because they are on title fight bills.

They were all tip offs then?
No you get tested when yr fighting for a title, tested when there is evidence or tip off or tested completly randomly by UKAD,its defo not because of beig on same bill as title fight as iv had lots of lads on these bills and never been tested because of it and iv had lads fighting for titles and tested and the testing guys are there for the title fights dont een bother with anyone else
