MBC Article in Boxing News
If you haven't already read it, please read the article in today's BN. I'll say nothing more other than:
Medicals
Integrity
The article doesn't cover :
Insurance
Drug Testing
I'd like to ask MBC promoters to confirm what insurance they have in place when they put a show on. Please don't say the same as the bbbofc. I'd like you to publicly state what your insurance consists of?
I'd also like to ask what drug testing takes place. I can already tell you that the MBC are NOT registered with WADA or the UKADA. So who does your testing?
Simple questions, lets see what answers I get.

I think things can be summed-up perfectly like this....
"The MBC is to the BBBoC what TNA is to WWE!"
"The MBC is to the BBBoC what TNA is to WWE!"

Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
I can't post an electronic link because I have the hard copy of the magazine only.
In the MBC Sick Note thread I've asked you what insurance and drug policy you had in place with for the show you promoted. I know that the MBC are not associated with or recognised, registered, monitored or tested by WADA or UKADA because I've already made those enquiries.
Rio has already said he thought it was WADA but if you check on their (WADA) website you'll see that the Malta Boxing Commission are not governed by WADA.I did ask him to expand on this matter but he didn't respond.
This makes it impossible for the UKADA to be responsible for testing because they only deal with WADA registered bodies. I've got an email from UKADA confirming this.
If there isn't a drug policy in place it isn't the end of the world, its a new organisation who only put on about a dozen shows. The chances are UKADA would not have got around to doing random testing on those shows. There are very, very few random tests conducted annually, they are usually the result of intelligence. They do routinely test on eliminators and british title fights and above, but if the MBC havent promoted a contest of that level they wouldn't have been tested. What I'm saying is if it hasn't been done, it needs to be done.
The insurance is more worrying. If its public liability insurance then the chances of a boxer being covered for injury are remote. Most policies are in place for accidents such as stadium collpase, slips, trips and falls, that sort of thing. Most venues will have a PLI policy in place for that kind of thing, but they will not cover a boxer being injured. There are only a few companies that actually provide that cover and it would be the promoter's job to ensure this is in place. Is it the case that the MBC have this specialist insurance in place on behalf of the promoters? If so, who is their policy with and what is the level of cover in terms of £'s for personal injury? Or do they leave insurance down to the promoter?
What did you have in place for the show you recently promoted?

Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
Are you saying the questions I'm raising aren't valid, important or worthy of an straight answer?
I'm a former license holder but have no affiliation to the bbbofc. I wish to remain anonymous a) because I can, its just a forum and b)I may wish to hold a license again in the future and spiteful people may use comments i make on here against me.
My issue with the MBC is I fear that they are an accident waiting to happen. I don't think they are good for boxing. God forbid if something were to go wrong on one of their shows, because the ramifications would have a huge detrimental effect on all aspects of the sport. Everything I've read just makes me more and more wary of them. I would not box on one of their shows.
Read through all of my posts if you like, you'll see my concerns are consistent. Safety, integrity and he overall reputation of boxing.
The questions I've asked are simple, easy to answer and valid.
Now, if the MBC or anyone for that matter can run boxing better than the bbbofc, great. Absolutely amazing. I'd be delighted.
But if they can't, but boast they can; they need to do one.
I do wonder why some people will blindly support the MBC, when its increasingly apparent they don't know what they're doing.
Happy?

Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
CharlesListon didn't write the article in the Boxing News. He's just voicing concerns, just like the journalist & many others.daviddee wrote:Who are you CharlesListon clearly someone within the BBBOFC. .Put yourself forward to why you keep rubbishing MBC
In this sport of professional boxing where any Tom Dick or Rio can set up a governing body its good to know there's people out there highlighting & voicing their concerns.
So it would be good for the benefit of this thread if you could answer some. As the normally vociferous replys from MBC have fallen unusually silent.
Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
I don't disagree with his posts point is he's a faceless person who is constantly quoting procedure for the board. I believe he is part of the board and is anonymous to make others look bad. I think both the BBBOFC and MBC are flawed but also a little competition may make both better

I explained my position. I couldn't care less who you think I am. I'm not sure what your point is, as you agree with my posts.daviddee wrote:I don't disagree with his posts point is he's a faceless person who is constantly quoting procedure for the board. The people that matter have faces. Let them answer my valid questions.

Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
Read my posts.
I've said competition is good but I do not think the MBC are anywhere near the right alternative.
I'm unlicensed and have no reason to support the bbbofc. Absolutely none. But I care about boxing and boxers and think the MBC are dreadful.
All I've raised is :
Integrity....promoters not reffing on shows
Medicals.....how can lads who failed Medicals with the bbbofc be allowed to box?
Insurance..... I want lads to be covered if they get badly injured
Drug testing..... as level a playing field as possible
And for MBC fluffers to stop answering every query with "the board aren't any better"
Now, FFS apply the same common sense as me and want the best for boxers or eff off.

Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
Has anyone ever been paid out from the BBBoC insurance?
Its a genuine question. I know recent cases like Jerome Wilson, Jonjo Finnegan and Kieran Farrell didn't get anything despite suffering permanent brain injuries.

I would say that's personal between the board and the boxer involved but I know for a fact that payments have been paid to boxers
Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
Just the names then - I am sure that such information would be publicly available somewhere anyway.spudder56 wrote:bripez wrote:Who was paid out, when, and how much did they get ?spudder56 wrote:

Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
I've just read the article and whilst it's not factually incorrect it is presented in a very anti mbc way. It does focus on the negatives.
Also I'm not quite sure how the sources who are quoted are chosen. And why others who are higher profile or have good things to say were not approached to give a fairer outlook.

Who would you suggest as a higher profile MBC representative?Cazelo wrote:I've just read the article and whilst it's not factually incorrect it is presented in a very anti mbc way. It does focus on the negatives.

It does make it clear that the article is anti MBC from the start, but as the article is in a magazine which refuses to cover MBC shows that was to be expected.

You don't get higher than the president & vice president for quotes. :!:Cazelo wrote:I've just read the article and whilst it's not factually incorrect it is presented in a very anti mbc way. It does focus on the negatives.

Re: MBC Article in Boxing News
It's a new organisation in the sense of competition I like the idea of anyone giving each other competition because surely that would be a good thing. I am not part of the MBC and In an ideal world if the BBBOFC were doing things right fully then no one would come along. Boxing is very corrupt.questionmore wrote:David from Dundee who's brothers a pro boxer... that's very upfront of you.
