Who punches HARDER?

Post by Aaronide_ger »

Luis Ortiz vs Anthony Joshua ladies and gentlemen, talk about heavyweight matchup.. This could be a hell of a fight.

By the way I think Ortiz punches harder, his punches are just VICIOUS.

Hope it happens down the line. Ortiz looks very good but how will he look against the behemoths of the division?

I know this much, I can't wait for his next fight.

Ortiz usually one punch Ko's, joshua's is multipul punches thrown and stopped by the ref, so i'd say Ortiz hits harder. I think Ortiz's boxing style will be very dangerous for Joshua, Whyte's not the best boxer and he managed to land some nice shots and hurt him. Both are still untested but I’d give the edge to Ortiz, one of the biggest threats to Ortiz in my opinion is Povetkin, Ortiz didn't look too great when Jennings was fighting on the inside, I can imagine someone like Povetkin taking him apart with his good technical boxing skills

I wonder who are voting AJ? Come on guys show yourselfs or you are just Fanboys?

Ortiz just knocked out a guy that Wladimir couldnt even hurt, He would outbox AJ with ease at this stage, his boxing skills from the outside are better than anyone at the division atm, his only problem is on the inside but then again Jennings is an inside fighter and he got ripped by many vicious uppercuts up to 7th, I had Jennings losing 4-2 but I was worried Ortiz might slow down in the 2nd half.

I'll raise my hand and say I voted for AJ. "Wladimir couldn't do that against Jennings!" Yeah, no s#it. Wladimir might not have done any inside fighting since the Clinton administration. I'm not saying he can't punch, but my sense is that if AJ was throwing those shots, Jennings wouldn't have gotten out of the first.

Jennings has a very good chin, I doubt AJ would do that to him, he couldnt even get Whyte out of there with flush shots, what makes you think he would do that to Jennings? Jennings gives AJ everything he can handle.

Joshua definitely hits harder, he has more row power. Ortiz though is more accurate and more savvy. Which means the he is able to deliver deadlier shots. And before anyone asks, yes I am a big Joshua fan and even bigger Ortiz fan.

Ortiz.... his punches are more precise, he really sits down on his punches, and he patiently waits for the right opprotunities. Joshua at times is cautious, and other times he throws blistering punches. There seems to be no real method to the madness. He's still a raw, green, learning fighter. Ortiz on the other hand is established amateur, great credentials, and is really making waves against truly credible opponents. How long the discipline lasts, is anyone's guess. We all know how many great Cuban fighters there has been, only to piss it away the moment they taste money and luxuries here in America, but it seems to me Ortiz is fighting strictly for family and seems more level headed than others who have came down the pipe.

Then again, I have the presence of mind, to know that this man (Ortiz) is a level below the true elite fighting men. Just because you defeat Jennings on a knockout, doesn't mean you will do it to Wilder or Fury or Klitschko. Jennings may have shown heart and ability (to an extent) with Klitschko, but how many other men lasted twelve with him? Fact remains, Jennings isn't exactly one to point out and say he's a great victory, because Klitschko's went the distance eight times in his career and alot of other fights he's had have went into the late rounds. Not to take anything away from Jennings, but we all know the state of the division and the bullshit politics going on at present (three WBA champions ffs, the IBF giving the belt away to nobodies) and for my money its all about trying to put the belts on men who will never box one another to unify. There's no money in a unified champion, no matter how much we want there to be.

I think right now Ortiz is more skilled.

But as far as power, Joshua has the edge on my book. He hits Jennings the way Ortiz did early and Jennings goes to sleep.

But I don't know how much difference it makes functionally.

Whether the bomb is 8 megatons or 10, there is still gonna be a lot of flattened buildings.

You know what makes King Kong Ortiz the most live opponent amongst the Heavyweight ranks??

The guy can actual fight on the inside.

Joshua for me.

Every time he connects it looks the a fight finisher.
His uppercut finish of Whyte lifted him off his feet.
Great finishing instinct doesn't let people off the hook.

Put a Brit near a computer and watch what ridiculousness ensues. Ortiz is the most complete boxer the heavyweight division has seen since Lennox Lewis. For the last 10 years, any big athletic person could find success in the heavyweight division. If you don't make the NFL, hey, you could always be a heavyweight boxer ...was the common theme. Not anymore. There's some serious talent accumulating upstairs. Ortiz has way more tools and packs more power than Joshua, clearly. But I think Joshua is still learning. Ortiz can teach though.

Joshua has a few things in his favour over Ortiz though.
He's got age. The worry for Ortiz is that boxing politics becomes a factor all it takes is a couple of lay offs and Father Time might catch up with him.
Juicing us something that has been levelled at both but only Ortiz has failed a test. Again a failed test is something that doesn't sit right with me.
Amateur pedigree. Both fantastic amateurs but the Olympic gold for Joshua outweighs Ortiz also fantastic career. Olympic gold is never a sure thing to professional success but it seems to hold more weight for the big men. (Klitschko, Lewis, Povetkin etc). Obv Harrison is a exception.

Ortiz is coming off a impressive win against Jennings which is a better win than anyone on Joshua's resume which is a huge factor in rating the two. On that basis alone I'd rank Ortiz higher than Joshua at the moment.
But if we are having this discussion in twenty years I'm positive that Joshua would of been the most successful of the two.
I also feel that Joshua will end up with the biggest KO ratio out of the two. I have more confidence in him finishing a hurt opponent than Ortiz but only just.
The fact of the matter is they are two of the biggest hitters in the game and both are fan favourites.
