When I've met Frank he's been the polar opposite to his TV persona.

That's because he's got serious mental health problems.

To complain about the gulf in popularity between a man who was an idol, went to war with Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis and beat the man who beat Lewis with a man who went to war with Neven Pajkic and Nikolai Firtha and beat the man who earned his title vs the mighty Chris Byrd is beyond ridiculous. Why would any sane person expect Tyson Fury to be as popular as Frank Bruno? What is it with your utterly bizarre fixation with gypies? It's all you bloody talk about on here. Is there not a gypsy forum you could frequent instead?

That can happen. The media portray a version of a person that might not be wholly accurate and in addition a person may act different when the camera are on and may or may not know it.

I've met Bruno and spent a bit of time with him, as one of his best mates is from Sunderland. He came across as a very nice man to me. I've never met Fury, but plenty of my mates have and they all say he's a canny lad.

I imagine most people are, a television personality is developed to maximise popularity not to show people how the person actually is, its just to maximise the paying or viewing market. Tyson Fury seems happy to be anti marketing that has advantages and disadvantages and he can't have authenticity and mass appeal.

As you know, I've got mates who are travellers and I would never call anyone a 'thick gypo' and I'm disappointed you would even suggest that. I do think you use positive discrimination regarding gypsies.
Not at all. I remember Frank Bruno getting an open top bus round London and being on every chat show going for weeks after beating Oliver f*cking McCall in his home town. Tyson did the unthinkable, and the hatred has got worse!
You do use positive discrimination regarding gypsies mate. I'm not having a go, I'm just telling you how you come across. :TU:

Bruno may be mentally ill now, but I spoke a few guys who knew him before he was known. Apparently he was a right bully in school and on building sites.

I guess the lesson is; don't equate TV persona with real person. Many nutters (and I'm not including Bruno here) are charming bastards

No, it's all you talk about and I defend some of them. I talk about all boxers. Who are you to dictate to me you prick? I bet I've been to more shows in the last month than you have in your life. You know literally nothing about the sport that you haven't read in a history book or seen on YouTube.

Well done to Saunders, classy interview post fight interview too I thought.

Apart from the third it was a bit like a 12 round amateur fight, both trying to nick a point here and there.

Odd that Lee doesn't jab more. Seems a bit like he lacks confidence, not so much in his chin but his defence.

BJS always looks like he would be better suited to 154lbs, but I'm sure his team know what they're doing. I'd actually really like to see him in with Canelo.

watch out for him opening a bottle of water around 10.52 (perhaps it was sparkling and he fearful of a fizzing issue after the bottle was hurled at him earlier?)

And look at his stupid face here, what's wrong with this man?

Image
i saw no issue, i think he was making sure the bottle was sealed, as is the norm in this day and age (as did fury). in this boxing game it seems you just cant trust anyone.

Andy lee was the disappointing one. BJS fought a good fight, got the knockdown and boxed clever.

It became clear about round 8 that lee really needed to go for it, but he waited until Round 11 to really start putting his foot on the gas, too little too late and he just boxed scared throughout the fight.

I've seen a number of Lee fights and he is pretty boring to watch, very negative, unless he lands a big shot and rattles the other man he does very little.

You might have subscribed to the thread, next to the post reply button there's another one with a spanner on it, click on it and see whether it says subscribe or unsubscribe to thread on the drop down bar, if it says unsubscribe, click it again and you shouldn't get the notification, if it says subscribe I'm not sure what the problem is.

Guess it must have come across different on TV. I was there and thought it was a pretty good night's boxing all in all. I've not watched back on TV to see if how I remember it was as good as it actually was, but I wasn't/am not complaining.

Pre-fight a lot of people expected BJS to out-box Lee and I thought he did just that. It wasn't a classic, but some people just aren't happy regardless. If they'd both gone in guns-a-blazing with knockdowns-a-plenty, the knicker-shitters on here would probably have bemoaned the lack of skill shown or boxing acumen.

Undercard had plenty of action, if some of it a bit one-sided, and the main event was so-so, but far from rubbish. Overall, an entertaining night.
