Valuev targets Williams and Skelton

Post by Max Molyneux »

Wants to tempt Lennox out of retirement too! :o

The Lennox who fought Vitali would of stopped Valuev easy.

Danny in shape would win but wouldn't know about Skelton because of his mauling style. He can punch hard enough to see if Valuev can take harder shots too.

Rumoured he will be facing Owen Beck in April.... Not sure quite how Beck gets the chance, but I do see him as a live dog. Despite losing everytime he remotely steps up - he isn't terrible and Barrett vs Beck was one of the most entertaining heavyweight scraps I have seen in a few years.

Beck had his moments in that fight, and by the scorecard had his moments in his only other defeat.

Even the Lennox Lewis of today could beat Valuev with one arm tied behind his back, not that its likely to happen.

I saw a photo of him not so long ago and he didn't look much bigger than in his fighting days. Even at 300lbs he'd have a chance against Valuev.

He is fat but 300lbs would be shocking if he got that fat! :o

Valuev targets Williams & Skelton :o

Shouldn't it be the other way round Williams & Skelton targeting Valuev, i mean for gods sake Valuev's the champ he shouldnt be calling anyone out it should be the contenders that are doing all the talking.

They're clearly looking to hang onto the title any way they can, I mean Owen Beck is hardly a credible challenger. And what have either Williams or Skelton done to warrant a crack? Neither is world class.

Even if they ain't world class they have the tools to beat Valuev. 8)

Even RUIZ schooled Valuev.

How did he school him? Have you seen the fight it was pretty close could have gone either way how that is a schooling is beyond me.

Ruiz has beaten far better fighters than both Williams and Skelton have, their records are not even close to comparable. I don't think Williams would beat Valuev, Skelton possibly but I'd still make Valuev favourite over both.

Not really, Lennox could carry 21 stone without looking too bad.

At least Valuev wants to fight, althought quite why Owen Beck is in the ring with a "champion" is beyond me, didn't he lose to Ray Austin last time? I couldn't see Williams beating the Beast although Skelton has a chance on his workrate and no way did Ruiz school Valuev, he didn't even win the fight for a start.

Ruiz has beaten Golota, Oquendo, Rahman, Johnson, Hoyfield....

Williams has beaten Tyson, Harrison, Sprott, Long, Meehan....

Skelton has beaten Moli, Long, Sprott, Francis....

Ruiz is clearly better than those two and I think he would beat both. Much as his style frustrates he has beaten plenty of top 10 heavyweights. Williams and Skelton haven't beaten any (Tyson was not top 10 when Williams beat him no way).

Can you imagine Ruiz-Skelton though? Actually, on second thoughts, don't.......

From what I saw Valuev mostly though the jab and lacked any serious combinations while Ruiz got inside most of the time.

Valuev did what Ruiz used to do most of the time too win!

Even Donald schooled him.

Not on about records? But Danny could beat Ruiz and in the right shape and mind he'd beat Valuev who can;t even throw a good jab and wouldn't be anything without Sauerland.

Skelton's mauling would trouble him too as he ain't that strong, even Etienne pushed him back!

Errrm he was big at 18 stone, 21 would look even heavier on him!

Ruiz might beat Danny and Skelton but he wouldn't with that mauling style he could with the clean fighting he did with Valuev and Toney.

I know Meehan's bad but he got robbed against Brewster and Rahman needed 4 rounds! The heavyweight division is so open that Danny has a chance and it's a fat ex middleweight like Toney that most are believing in.

I ain't going off opposition all the time and because of the way and how open the heavyweight division is I won't go off whos fought who either.

Nick, Danny admitted Tyson of the 80's would of beaten him and that Tyson was past it everyone wanted him because of the money and credit they were getting off Tyson nuts.

Although Danny needs to prove himself by fighting his way back, I do think he's underated and if Skelton wins I'll change that view even if I thought he had potential which he does.

Plus he has the punch to change an outcome.

You're idea of schooling is way off, someone being schooled is being comprehensively beaten in anybody elses book. You can make a case for Ruiz or Donald beating Valuev but schoolings they were not.

As for Williams beating Ruiz I seriously doubt he would. Yes records do come into it as Williams has failed at European level whereas Ruiz for all his shortcomings has beaten top 10 heavyweights time and time again. Williams hasn't been in decent shape for about 5 years.

If Skelton or Williams were mandatory challenger for a world title fight is as possible as if Kournikova would win in Wimbledon......

BTW Nico will fight Owen Beck in Hannover, Tui Arena on April 1 :box:

It would be a voluntary defence not a mandatory. Neither would deserve it, then again does Beck? At least the winner of Williams v Skelton would be coming off a few wins Beck has lost two then one win in an 8 rounder. How the WBA are sanctioning that is beyond me just when you think these alphabet boys cant get any worse they do!

I am pretty sure that Sauerland has no interest that Nico fights Skelton or Williams plus he doesn´t like the special friend of boxrec that much....

For me it was sure that Nicos next fight is against a Don King fighter. Beck is ranked #12 in the WBA. King has a 4 fight deal with Sauerland. Next opponent could be Donald again......

Williams and Skelton must be happy to get a chance for the EBU belt. Vidoz-Sam is next. I don´t think that both are better. I don´t see a british Heavyweight at european top level at the moment, unfortunately. Guys like Chagaev or Dimitrenko are far better and they improve. There are at least 10 boxers from eastern europe who are better or at the same level.

I agree the British guys are not at Euro level yet, however if Skelton walks through Williams then I'd give him a shot against Vidoz. Not sure if he could beat Sam though based on styles. We've already seen Williams exposed at European level against Sam.

This all looks like typical PR from Sports Network with not a lot behind it. Valuev aint shown much so far but he's a bigger sell than either Skelton or Williams. God the heavyweight division is depressing right now.

Lennox isnt in to bad a shape...
What the earlier poster meant i think, was that he could probably be 21stone and look ok in his clothes as he has big shoulders etc....

Lennox looks ok in these two photos from yesterday:

Universum does everything to get back the Euro title. Luan is the official challenger, Sam is #1. Luan fights Brewster again so Vidoz would fight Sam who should beat Vidoz.

I don´t know what would happen if Skelton fights good opponents.......His best opponent was Moli  and sorry but Williams is a joke and no serious opponent anymore.
