Blackwell will give CEJ a very interesting test. He'd fookin smash O'Sullivan I'm sureashedward wrote:The Blackwell is fight is actually a good fight at this stage for Eubank,he shouldn`t be rushed to much and I think Mick put in a big bid and it will be a decent payday.I think they might just be angling for a better deal with Matchroom with Snr tweeting that team Eubank is perfect product for any ppv platform. If he`s seen that Joshua is a ppv headliner already and think he can do the same with JR but cut Hearn out I think he overestermates Jrs pulling power at the moment. The only ppvs which will have little or no involvement from Matchroom is big events and Jr isn`t a big event headliner yet.

Eubank likes to coast so I think if Blackwell can fight high tempo he can at least make him look uncomfortable for a few rounds.Anzi wrote:No way Blackwell beats Eubank jr
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
Eubank will comfortably beat Blackwell but his lack of power means he is far from the world beater Eubank sr thinks he is.
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
Eubank likes to bully people,I don't think he would do that to blackwell
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
Blackwell is crude and easy to hit expect another Sullivan scenario, Junior is a very talented fighter with a few defensive shortcomings that can be ironed out and a tragic lack of power which will prevent him dominating at elite level.
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
Blackwell win is by no means guaranteed. Eubank is flawed fighter, both technically and stylistically. If he loads up on Blackwell like he did with Osallivan, he might find himself punched out and defenseless late in the fight.
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
Eubank jr is flawed ? Blackwell has much more faults, Eubank jr puts his combinations together very well, his engine is good, the pace he sets and he is not afraid to take risks and he can punch, he hurt spike, not many do that, remember he had Billie Joe Saunders in loads of trouble in the later rounds, he broke the tough Chudinov.

He had BJS tired, I must have missed the bit where he hurt him.Anzi wrote:Eubank jr is flawed ? if you hurt someone when they are 'fatigued' then you are still hurting them!mickey1975 wrote:He had BJS tired, I must have missed the bit where he hurt him.Anzi wrote:Eubank jr is flawed ? eubank jnr is/was never a 1 punch 'wipe out' merchant like andy lee, eubank is an accumulative 'hurter'. he is stylish and the uppercuts he delivers will cause any fighters loads of trouble. the future is bright. his chin seems ok too.
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
I don't know if I am alone here but why the hell would Eddie make such a deal about Eubank, when the deal is as short as three fights.
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
Because Eubank has no trouble getting publicity , hence selling tickets ,,, Leaving though makes you think they may of been thinking Billy Joe would win , and a rematch , without Hearns taking his cutbrian13 wrote:I don't know if I am alone here but why the hell would Eddie make such a deal about Eubank, when the deal is as short as three fights.

My feeling on this is that although, on paper, the matchroom stable is vast and has a number of world champs, he is not actually able to bring them together for a British show, therefore he plugged a short term gap quite well with eubank jnr. Those world champs with haymon as advisor are doing their own thing. It will be interesting to see if those fighters figure in future uk ppv shows, perhaps the pie can't get sliced up into too many pieces. Joshua gets paid more than most world champs already and his purses will only go up next year.brian13 wrote:I don't know if I am alone here but why the hell would Eddie make such a deal about Eubank, when the deal is as short as three fights.
Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
And why did he waste one of those fights by having Eubank fight Tony Jeter?brian13 wrote:I don't know if I am alone here but why the hell would Eddie make such a deal about Eubank, when the deal is as short as three fights.

I think it's just a case this is his biggest profile departure since the exclusive Sky deal came in. As someone mentioned a few posts up Matchroom have several far more established names to headline cards so on the face of it this isn't some kind of crippling loss at all, but when someone goes about leaving this way it is a shock hence today's interview. I think if someone like Mitchell Smith or Prince Patel left their promoter in the same manner it would get a similarly angry reaction even tho they are far from marquee names within the stable.brian13 wrote:I don't know if I am alone here but why the hell would Eddie make such a deal about Eubank, when the deal is as short as three fights.

Does eubank jar shift tickets? There's a few boxers around now who seem to have 'star' appeal to promoters but not so much to fans.
I wouldn't go out of my way to watch eubank and definitely wouldn't buy a ticket unless it was an evenly matched fight or GGG
Same with Groves yet match room make a big thing about him fighting tbc etc.
Am I alone in thinking this way?

I don't think its the biggest departure since the exclusive Sky deal came in, Frampton has to be because he just knocked out Kiko and stopped Molitor in his fight before Kiko. He has to be the biggest so far because he was selling out the Odyssey (or whatever its called now) and destroying very good fighters.jameswilson wrote:I think it's just a case this is his biggest profile departure since the exclusive Sky deal came in. Re: Eubank Jr Splits from Matchroom?
Judging by Eddie's latest video with ifl, it's like a game of poker with the Eubanks and they've shown their hand too early. Seems like they believe Eubank is ppv already and are going where the money is. I think they'll either sign a longer agreement with matchroom or go to Al Haymon.
