JOSHUA vs ORTIZ, who wins and how???

Post by Undefeated49-0 »

It seems we may eventually see a match up like this sometime in the near future, personally I think Ortiz may be too skilled for him and may even possess equal or better punching power to boot.

Defensively Ortiz may be better but that all remains to be seen when they step up to better competition.

So who do you have and how will it end?

I do not think it will happen unless one of them have the world title.
But based off of what I have seen I seen I predict Ortiz to win by mid to late round stoppage.

At this moment, Ortiz outclasses Joshua and knocks him out in a similar style to saturday. He is getting on though so think Matchroom will look to avoid him while they can.

Ortiz, but not because Joshua is bad or overrated. Ortiz is just really, really good. He has good size, huge reach, good speed, good footwork, very good power in both hands and excellent punch variety. I think Ortiz can beat any HW in the world including Fury and Wlad. He is just so much faster than current version of Wlad - just compare how they both looked against Jennings. I think Ortiz would also KO Povetkin who is very vulnerable to uppercuts, and Wilder who has a lot of holes in his defense.

Would certainly be an exciting fight. Really enjoyed the fight with Jennings, HW division is really heating up at the moment. I think it could be a case of who lands a bomb first.

At this moment? Ortiz schools Joshua every single round and stops him late.

Fighting a guy 2 inches shorter than you whom you can easily control distance on and can't punch is a whole different universe from a guy who is 2 inches taller than you and has one punch KO power. All of Ortiz's significant wins come against smaller, light hitting opposition. I doubt that's insignificant. I'll take the much younger Joshua.

My thoughts exactly. This match up kind of reminds me of Bowe vs Gonzales, who was held in high regards as this skilled cuban potential star.

When has Joshua shown this 1 punch ko power?

Dude. Seriously? Basically against equivalent competition as Luis Ortiz up to this point we've seen him light dudes up, sometimes with single shots. Go on Youtube.

Assume for a moment that Joshua's KOs are all against people with soft chins. We'll ignore any evidence that suggests otherwise for the purpose of this point. What evidence at points to Jennings and Johnson being at all comparable/near equivalent in regards to punching power? I'm floored at even the suggestion that such an argument could be made.

I've seen his whole career and most of his stoppages are from accumulation, not 1 punch KO's

Dear god. OK, fine. If slamming a single punch home on opposition that knocks them out doesn't count because he hit them previously, is there anyone who has displayed that kind of power in any weight class?

Julian Jackson had 1 punch in power, Joshua doesn't. Joshua hurts guys but how many knockouts has he had, and many were from a single blow? He's a solid puncher but not a KO artist, despite the record.

Anyway.

Ortiz really impressed me with that performance. I'd like to see the Joshua fight within two years, although not sure it will happen. I couldn't pick a winner at this stage. How is Luis's chin?

i would love to see this fight down the road ...joshua the sharper pin point puncher of the two with faster hands but the real king kong has very heavy hands a la john tate and george foreman ....viscious uppercuts on the inside a la george foreman ...i fight i want too see the real king kong what wladamir couldnt do ,,,,two big punchers would love too see it ...i would pick joshua if you were to stick a gun to my head ..younger and faster hands ...but the ropes is were you dont want to be against the ropes agaisnt ortiz hes not a head hunter ...he like to bomb to the body with either man ...

What fight did Jackson win by never hitting anyone else previous to the KO blow? Right now, the only guys I can think of that has displayed "one punch KO power" as you define it is Gabriel Bracero and Jimmy Thunder.

Total mystery; never really fought a puncher. Begs the question then if someone knows something we don't.

As I define it, a 1 punch KO isn't a stoppage where the guy takes 15 unanswered shots before going down, I guess you must have thought Calzaghe was a hell of a puncher with his stoppages over the likes of Manfredo.... Jackson vs Graham is a 1 punch KO, Uchiyama vs Solis, Marquez vs Pacquiao. Not stoppages from flurries.

What exactly is that based on? It's actually extremely unlikely.

To me Ortiz looks like the most complete heavyweight since Lennox, BY FAR. It's a real shame this guy turned pro at 31. Hopefully he can be a factor for at least five more years. He did look very sharp at 37 and hasn't had any wear and tear as of yet.

His jab is much worse than Lewis' jab was, but his power punches variety is definitely better. He uses streight left hands, left hooks, his right hook is much more developed than Lewis' left hook ever was, and he has terrific uppercuts with both hands. He also goes to the body more. Offensively I think he is the most complete HW since prime Holyfield. Of course, we don't know can he take a shot form a real puncher? How will he look against 4-5 inches taller guy with good footwork like Tyson Fury? So some questions still remain there.

As for his age, Ortiz is stll 36, not 37. He turner pro at 31, he never took a beating, he never even was in the hard fight. I doubt he had a lot of hard training camps, probably 2-3 at most. So I think he has at least 3 years of his prime. I wish he turned pro 7-8 years earlier though.

Yes, Haye and Price are bigger one shot punchers. Joshua isn't a one big shot puncher, he's heavy handed but tends to stop fighters with an accumulation. Sort of like Vitali K, also heavy handed also not a 1-puncher KO artist

I disagree. Joshua KTFO'ed Zumbano Love with a single punch. Love went the distance against Shannon Briggs and Andy Ruiz, and was stopped late taking tremendous beating from Molina and Martin.

Also, Joshua's second knockdown of Johnson (by uppercut) and KO of Whyte were brutal.
