Ticket giveaways for the Lee vs BJS show

Just been told by someone I know that a load of NHS staff were given free tickets for the Lee vs BJS fight, I wonder how many others got free tickets? I know someone who got pretty good seats for nowt, lower tier with a decent view.

Am thinking this show must have sold quite badly and they've had to give away a shedload to get it full and save embarassment? Did anyone on here go, if so what were the upper tiers like as it didn't show much on the cameras?

They put on some good shows in 2015, just a shame not many people saw then.
Find home venues for their World Champs and stick to them, build a fan base for each.
Saunders and Buglioni in London, Smith and Matthews in Liverpool and Flanagan and Singh in Manchester.

I went & the upper tiers were closed they moved everyone down to the tier below.

decent gesture & with that bill deserved more in attendance maybe with it being so near Christmas & only Jimmy Kelly from Manchester meant that there wasn't as many as the bill deserved.

In all fairness i think there PR is poor. I emailed about VIP tickets to Flanagan vs Mathews in Feb and got a reply saying i will get another reply tomorrow as the "box office manager" had gone home, that was nearly 2 weeks ago and still no reply from them.

If i was a promoter i would be doing everything in my power to get the top price seats sold.
I tweeted them saying i still havnt had a responce and didnt get a responce from that either!

Matchroom have the benefit of getting their fighters on shows like Soccer AM, the darts and SKY Sports News as often as they like. Great exposure for their fighters to their desired target demographic. No other UK promoter can compete with this.

SKY just brainwash people, it makes me sick.
Eddie talks about how AJ v Whyte was ging to do "huge numbers" therefore that was justifying its PPV status which in my view is complete bollox. A, if we want to watch the fight and are a fan of boxing then we dont have much choice and B, SKY just brainwash the masses with there flashy production and hype ect ect They are not great for British boxing, they are all con men

Was thinking this the other day, as was at Euston station and they actually had a fight poster for the Lee v BJS fight - you don't really see those anymore on billboards and whilst I quite like it from a nostalgia point of view it did strike me as a bit odd as the fight wasn't happening in London (yes I know Euston is used by a lot in the North West and I do understand the advert was more for allegedly than tickets). I guess its the big difference with Mathcroom having the whole sky sports platform to remind us about upcoming fights/fighters. But are there none of these type of programmes on BT sports say to get Warren fighters on (I genuinely don't know as don't have BT).

I've noticed quite a few BxoNatoin posters in and around stations in London. I've always been quite impressed by that as it helps keep boxing in the mind of the man on the street.

I was in the upper-tier. Just above where BJS walked out from. Round there there was plenty of empty seats until mid way through Smith v Kelly. After that a sparse smattering of empty one's and two's here and there.

Decent mix of people too compared to Matchroom shows. Verbal jousting between fans was all good natured and well taken, as opposed to a protagonist ending up covered in blood, as seems I encounter at every MR show.

i work for NHS no one offered me tickets is it a tickets scheme

The upper, top-top, tier (200 level) was closed off. The upper of the tiers available was not (100 level). Apologies for the confusion. I'm tired. Perhaps just felt like it being "upper" as I was near the back of it.

Its not just the exposure theres a sort of belief (from the casuals and it stretches across all sports not just boxing) that anything on Sky is naturally better than on any other channel. Sadly with football etc being on sky since 1992 we now pretty much live with generations and generations who've never thought any different.

It's amazing to me how IFL TV manage to navigate their way through the pot-shotting between the two parties. They do a great job in getting across alot of the behind the scenes stuff.

Frank admitted it had been a 'hard sell' due to the two postponements. If memory is correct hadn't they sold 12 thousand tickets in Ireland before pulling the plug on that show ?

The Manchester show deserved better but I do think the promoter is suffering a bit from punters being doubtful as to whether his shows will fall apart in the weeks leading up to the show. It's not as bad as it was, admittedly.

Not sure how BN can introduce a PPV option, that would be risky, he does not want to pxxx off his loyal subscriber base by milking them for more money. BN subscribers accept that we get what we get and other promotional shows that play on sky etc are never going to be part of the content. I think there is a risk of alienating BN subscribers if you pay your £12 a month and find that it doesn't get you all of the channels content - and you have to pay extra to get the full program. I could understand it for something like mayweather vs pacquiao, but as a BN subscriber since day one I do not expect the channel to be able to go out and get every massive fight in the calendar. Perhaps Frank is seeing the money matchroom are making via Sky ppvs and wants something similar ? I think it's risky.

Loads more than 4,000. If there was only 4,000 there then was only 3,000 at Crolla v Pérez I know because it was at both.

To be fair, Hearn said they only sold 4,000 tickets. Attendance could be a lot higher if they gave tickets away in numbers.
