I also thought that Skelton's boxing skills had improved the last couple of times I saw him, the jab was working well and he had straightened his shots up a bit too. He's not the most impressive technician, but he's big, strong, determined, fit and relentless, and in the heavyweight division, that can take you quite a long way.

Maybe schooling was off but they did win more clearer.nickd wrote:You're idea of schooling is way off, someone being schooled is being comprehensively beaten in anybody elses book. You can make a case for Ruiz or Donald beating Valuev but schoolings they were not.
As for Williams beating Ruiz I seriously doubt he would. Yes records do come into it as Williams has failed at European level whereas Ruiz for all his shortcomings has beaten top 10 heavyweights time and time again. Williams hasn't been in decent shape for about 5 years.
He lost one fight at Euro level and you think he's failed? Losing to one Euro fighter doesn't mean your not Euro class.
Sometimes it's styles more than records so records don't always count. Tszyu 's records was better than Hatton and look what happened to him.
I say the winner of Skelton and Williams should get a shot at the Euro title since SSS, there the highest rated and Krasniqi shouldn't get it since Brewster just KO'ed him.

it´s time for him to fight better opponents. at the moment I don´t rate him high, his record list is comparable with Audley Harrison. I hope Skelton shows more. let´s wait and see.J wrote:i wouldnt be so dismissive of skelton he beat the shit out of sprott who has been doing quite well for himself and who you rate Bubi.
he aint the best boxer but he is a fit hard relentless mofo.

True but he'll make it a fight unlike Audley!it´s time for him to fight better opponents. at the moment I don´t rate him high, his record list is comparable with Audley Harrison. I hope Skelton shows more. let´s wait and see.
Danny shouldn't be underestimated though like your saying lets wait and see.

The actual version of Williams is not better than Sprott but has a better name. His next fight for the British title is a waste of time. He should fight guys to get a high ranking at the world organisations. an eventual EBU fight could not happen before late summer. In Germany there will be no boxing events during "Beckenbauer Money Games" provided it will be Sam.J wrote:WILLIAMS IS A STEP UP MATE
i agree with you though he needs to step it up soon as he is coming up 40 in the coming year

Did you forget that Luan held the title and had to give it away only because of the World title shot? Do you think a Vidoz or whoever would be champion if Luan fought them? I only see Wladi Klitschko who could beat him in Europe. He showed a tremenduos performance against Whitaker and Brewster. Every boxing expert, even in the USA, rates him in a Top Ten worldwide. The EBU made a good job in ranking Luan and Sam as the next contenders, they are the two best in real.Max Molyneux wrote:Maybe schooling was off but they did win more clearer.nickd wrote:You're idea of schooling is way off, someone being schooled is being comprehensively beaten in anybody elses book. More clearer than what? As for Williams yes he has failed at European level, he fought for the European title and was bounced around the ring in 6 rounds by Sam a guy who's limitations have been exposed in world class. Williams is domestic class at best that has been proven over the course of his career. And lets not bring the Tyson win into it, McBride beat Tyson and he was stopped in 3 by Michael Murray so it's fair to say McBride is not even domestic title level!

Yes I thought they won against Valuev.
Who says I was going to bring Tyson into? You assumed that. I know Tyson was washed up and didn't warrant a shot at anything and Danny knew that. He was only worth market value, nothing else.
So one loss at European level says you failed?
No the EBU just gets told to by Sauerland and Universum who to rank since they after decent journymen in the world scene.

Yeah but he doesn't deserve a shot after just losing his title shot. Vidoz wouldn't be champ if Luan still had it.Did you forget that Luan held the title and had to give it away only because of the World title shot? Until he proves otherwise yes. Would you pick him against any of the top guys in Europe now? Sam/Krasniqi/Vidoz? I certainly wouldn't. My point is take one look at Williams' career and despite an undeserved crack at a world title he is a domestic level fighter. Until he beats someone outside that class I fail to see how he can be considered anything more. To be European level you have to win European title fights or at least eliminators and he hasn't done either.Max Molyneux wrote: So one loss at European level says you failed?![]()

Depends what shape he shows up in and Vidoz ain't the best of Euro fighters either and his opp is as good or bad as Williams.nickd wrote:Until he proves otherwise yes. He's still top Euro level.

How is Vidoz top level when he beat Sprott who Danny already Ko'ed twice and Koc was already owned by Sprott.nickd wrote:He fought for a European title once and was dropped 3 times in a 6 round humiliation. That to me suggests a failing at that level! Its not like Sam was anything special and went on to win fights at the top level.
How is he top Euro level? What fights has he won at that level?
The guys on his record were and are rated in the EBU so he is Euro class he beat Sprott who has beaten Hoffman and Koc and Harrison was and is in the top 10 EBU ratings although he is a fruad and he beat Bonin who was rated by the EBU.
With Sauerland and Universum around they'll probably try to hog the EBU.
Well he's the European champion with 2 defences, Williams hasn't even won the belt. Do the maths....Max Molyneux wrote:How is Vidoz top level when he beat Sprott who Danny already Ko'ed twice and Koc was already owned by Sprott.nickd wrote:He fought for a European title once and was dropped 3 times in a 6 round humiliation. Sprott was the EU title holder and the best rated available guy because Wladi, Luan, Valuev and Sam didn´t want to fight.Max Molyneux wrote:How is Vidoz top level when he beat Sprott who Danny already Ko'ed twice and Koc was already owned by Sprott.nickd wrote:He fought for a European title once and was dropped 3 times in a 6 round humiliation. The voluntary defence against Koc was a deal from Sauerland. both, Vidoz and Sprott, had to sign. that´s the reason why the Sprott-Vidoz fight took place in Germany. winner had to fight Koc in Germany. Vidoz is not promoted by Sauerland.
From a Sauerland pressrelease:
Again, news reaches me that are without any real substance," says Chris Meyer, CEO of Sauerland Event GmbH. "Reports from the UK are saying that Nico Valuev will face the winner of Williams-Skelton next after his first defense on April 1. The real truth of the matter is that there have been absolutely no agreements on this. We not even have had any communication regarding such a match. Naturally, Nico is ready and willing to fight anybody out there, but he can only do so one at a time. Also, neither Williams nor Skelton are on our short list of possible contenders. How could they be? Neither is rated by the WBA.
