Yeh its a great business move from George. It's obvious they aren't going to put on any old shite on the PPV channel, they will use it to be able to go in for the likes of Fury-Wlad, Fury-Haye and they can put on big cards with say Flanagan against Linares, BJS against Jacobs and Beefy against Soro with some European title fights on too, now I'd certainly pay for that over any card Camp Eddie has done this year.

SKY would surely promote the cards on there sports news channel as you say because at the end of the day they are a business and it would help them make money.

In all serious ness it would be stupid for Warren not to chase every avenue possible and find any loop hole they can , for a real big fight its the colosal amount of push the red button veiwers , that he wants and Hearn does'nt want to let go .. I think Eddie will be shitting his pants now , he went to great lenghts time and time again to say ,, ITS CONTRACTUAL ,, its in the contract ,

Be interesting to see if sky back him up , or say well technicly Eddie old boy , it is a different dept , run seperatly and we cannot do anything about it . whats he gonna do ,, Take them to court ,, say get stuffed stick your 5 and half years up your jacksie , Or just run to Daddy and say what do we do ,, Makes it all very interesting , in fact its better than the fights .. The winner here will be sky , after all you will have 2 promoters fighting for the rights to a big fight ,thats not counting Hennesay , both will be offering it to sky dept 1 or sky dept 2 , , both will probably have to give sky a bigger cut , and sky will be laughing all the way to the bank .

Like Eddie said theres levels , and i think Sky have just shown him what level he's on and its not theres ,, in fact i think Warren will now be sat smug saying are you sure your on my level Ediie old boy ..

On a side note though if al all true and correct what Warren is saying , all of a sudden Eubanks move was'nt so dumb after all ,, Because like him or not , take away Fury ,, AJ who else is there people would pay to watch even if its only till he gets sparked out young chris is going to be ppv if they keep him winning .

Also how animated was Franky in that interview , his body luanguage when refering to Eddie has Pinnichio , and a liar was intense to say the least ,, Stuff the boxers , bring on the hearns and the warrens face off . ha ha :box:

This is what I didn't really get - they spent the first half of the interview highlighting the difference between SKY Sports & SKY as the distributive platform. They then implied that SKY Sports News might hype up their PPV because it would make SKY money...but where's the incentive if a) they are distinct, and b) the BN PPV is potentially competing with a SKY Sports PPV?

It was hardly groundbreaking stuff. I still think there's a fairly big leap to see large numbers of extra casual viewers heading for a BN PPV just because they can order it by the remote - I mean plenty found there way there for Haye-Chisora. Anyway we shall see...
While they are officially distinct, any PPV would have to be a big event and although officially Sky distribution can't dictate to Sky Sports, in reality there's very little stopping someone walking over to the other side of the building and asking Sky Sports News to cover the fight when it's the sort of thing a Sports news channel is likely to cover anyway.

BN PPV is unlikely to compete with Sky Sports PPV, not on the same night anyway. Effectively they are two channels on the Sky platform, both have promoters, (VVarren and Hearn), that can put shows together for them that could be seen as worthy of PPV. The channels then take the PPV to Sky distribution, who make the decision on whether they distribute it on PPV or not. PPV is still available outside of that, like Primetime was, but for it to do well realistically it needs Sky distribution behind it. Sky distribution won't put two PPVs on the same night, or too many in a short space of time, because it doesn't make commercial sense for them.

So all of this arguing has essentially been over the use/non-use of the word 'sports'?

Though it does seem that Eddie has been caught out a bit.

I thought George Warren came across very in the Ifl interview, much better in front of the camera than his brother.

Frank's disdain for the Hearn's is quite something. Pure hatred.

sky sports news and sky sports will not promote franks ppv

frank will lose money on this venture unless he gets fighters to fight as a percentage of ppv so they take the risk as well

frank has got a lot of things wrong this year

the biggest thing was the venue for lee v saunders

if that was in the o2 in Dublin it would of got a way bigger card

as eddie says he would of done better with that show

lee and saunders don't have big followers,, either do crolla or Mathews or Flanagan

What was the crolla attendance ?

That is a real comparison of the 2 bills

With Eddie having the advantage of it being in crollas back yard

Never thought I would say it but I am firmly behind Warren on this and hope they excel. Hearn and Matchroom is ruining this sport that I love. I have gone from buying every magazine in existence, crawling websites all day, chatting on forums, watching every fight I could find, recording fights and building a library to this year cancelling Sky Sports after 20 odd years and watching nearly no fights.

I think Fwank and George have been very clever and shows that the Hearn contract can be circumnavigated with some cunning. The fact that they can use Sky Box Office rather than Sky Sports Box Office, a change of one digit on the channel number as they pointed out, really opens things up.

In theory, and sure it will never happen, but in theory I am suspecting also that a rival promoter could promote on Sky, just not on Sky Sports. I think, from what one is reading and hearing, is that the Matchroom contract is worded to say, "Sky Sports" rather than "Sky".

Hell, imagine if they let someone else to promote on Sky One.

I did think George came across extremely well & liked the way he stuck to the facts without resorting to insults (unlike his dad ).

As long as B0xnati0n subscribers don't lose out - which they've been adamant that they won't - then I think this is a good idea. If nothing else, it will give the channel a bit more exposure & credibility amongst the casuals.

plenty of UK names not with Matchroom like T.Fury, Haye, Groves, Eubank jr, Khan, Frampton & H.Fury, Chisora, Price, Afolabi, Blackwell, Haskins.

also agree the George Warren should take over from Francis in front of the camera...

Whilst it is clearly apparent that Eddie doesn't have exclusivity to Sky box office boxing events - I don't think what Frank and George said was hardly groundbreaking..... correct me if I am wrong but did the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight have any (c) Matchroom Sports in its closing credits? I don't think Team Money went through Eddie to broker that deal?

I'll make a prediction.

PPV is £15 or free to allegedly subscribers.

Can I just say how much I love allegedly. It's fantastic value and I'd be gutted if it went off air. All you tight bastards that stream the fights on there should hang your head in shame.

That's because Camp Eddie said no British fighter can fight on SKY sports box office without him, he was implying Khan and Fury cant be on PPV without his say so. This now means Frank can get say Khan vs Pac or Fury vs Wlad on SKY PPV without Camp Eddie getting involved.

66 live shows this year for around £150, plus Bunce's boxing hour every week and some classic old fights from the 90's, that is what I call value for money! I love it and will never unsubscribe even when they have a slow month (January time is always slow for boxing) as I want to support them.

Was wondering if frank and co could use by sports to promote the fights,if he can't use sky sports. Put shows on there like 24/7 behind the gloves etc.

Did Eddie say no British fighter, or fights on British soil or did he say no boxing all together. I thought it was very much the later..... I really don't think Eddie would ever have much of a say if Khan vs Garcia 2 (as an example - two Hayman fighters) was signed and Hayman pitched it to SBO.

The moment Sky got May vs Pac it was clearly and obviously BS. I cannot imagine it ever being in a contract - "Exclusively British fighters have to go through me, yes you can put other promoters bills on Sky PPV, but if one of the fighters has a british passport - sorry, must go through me again".

I don't think this will mean more British PPV's for non allegedly subscribers in the first instance. What it will probably mean in the first instance is that BN will secure more international rights cos they will make more money on the bigger fights which are currently only (in essence, yes I know about the £30 PPV but don't know anyone who signs up for that) available to BN subscribers.... fights like Cotto vs Alvarez etc..... then, with the extra cash - he could secure rights to other international suppliers....e.g. when Saurland's deal with Eddie/Sky ends.

I know this, but they're trying to appeal to a bigger market with the red button. And BT sport already use some of the BN content for their boxing show.

Sky sports news is a disgrace, it isn't sports news, if it was sports news it would cover stories based upon their importance in the sporting world. It doesn't, it uses it as a vehicle to promote its own brand. If a sport doesn't happen on Sky then it is irrelevant. Insult to your intelligence.

what Harn said was if a UK fighter headlined a show it has to go through him so khan v anyone, he would get a cut if it was on sky sport or sky sports boxoffice but he did say that if its a non headline fight like Groves v Jack he did not get a cut and had no involvement as it was not a main event
