Emailed Sky Sports to complain about Boxing coverage the other day.

Was utterly pissed off reflecting on what we have been served up this year and what has not been lined up for next year so fired off an email to their complaints to see what they would say......a pat on the head and failure to address most of my points as I expected...It will be getting cancelled.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I subscribe to the full Sky Sports package for no other reason than to
get access to live boxing coverage. I am not interested in watching any
other sport, yet I get the feeling I am being exploited and charged
exorbitant fees in order to finance Sky's deal for Premier league
football.

Overall the frequency and quality of boxing shows that have been
available this year has been poor. Ringside has been cut, 24/7
programmes from HBO are no longer shown, if they are they aren't well
advertised because I haven't seen one. The fights broadcast are
generally a Matchroom "home" boxer fighting some unknown who is out his
depth as the limited number of fighters aligned to Sky have to be
protected from a loss at all times.

I believe that the exclusive contract Sky has in place with Eddie
Hearn's matchroom boxing is a monopoly on both sides, the consumer is
missing out as a result of this monopoly.

I pay around £80 per month to have Sky and watch boxing yet I was
charged an extra £16.95 twice in the space of 2 weeks to watch pay per
view fights. Both of these shows were ruined by Sky coverage when the
programme cut to adverts at critical points: the first point which was
missed was when Britain's first world heavyweight champion in decades
had just been announced, yet Sky cut to an advert and missed him crying.

The second was during the recent pay per view show where Sky cut to an
advert and missed Spike O'sullivan quit his contest with Chris Eubank
Jnr- the climax of the fight. This is completely unacceptable!

Part of the boxing experience is listening to what goes on in corners
between rounds, yet after charging boxing fans for their regular monthly

Sky sports subscription, and then an additional £16.95 on top, Sky feel

the need to extract further money from the evening by bombarding shows
with adverts during every round- all to the detriment of the viewer!

I don't expect anything to change as a result of my email. However, I
would like my complaints noted. The standard of boxing coverage on Sky
is at an all time low and there does not appear to be much, if anything
lined up for next year. The commentators and analysis team continually
toe the party line and insult viewers intelligence by pretending that
fights are 50/50 fights and viewers are getting great value for money.
The whole coverage is an absolute robbery with the insult to our
intelligence the final straw.

I note your comments however 2015 appears to have been one our most
exciting with the successful years with regard to boxing including the
much wanted Mayweather v Pcquiao , fight of the century via Sky Box
Office.

As you can appreciate that apart from our Friday nights entertainment,
other events such as the above are only made available for broadcast
within the UK via Pay Per View.

With regard to your comments concerning advertising at critical/exciting
points in the viewing on this occasion I can confirm that this was very
unfortunate and can assure you in no way intentional. This was addressed
with our Sky Sports team at the time.

We very much like to receive feedback from our customers as this very
much helps with our future planning and development therefore your
comments have been noted and forwarded to our Sports team accordingly.

I really find it surprising that they cut to adds at those times in PAY PER VIEW FIGHTS.

During regular fights it's bad enough but during ppv fights it's unacceptable. Which is why I didn't pay for both pay per views, they have done that stuff before and pissed me off.

In today's climate, where you don't HAVE to pay for PPVs to watch them live, it's surprising that they would still take the p*ss.

I do have a BN subscription though. They don't take the piss in that fashion

Exactly. Can you imagine the money they could have made for adverts during the pac floyd fight? There would be absolute uproar if HBO cut to adds during rounds of that fight or what happened in recent british PPVs. HBO understand that what happens between rounds is extremely important to fans. So much so that they actually employ interpreters to tell us what the corner is saying between rounds.

More and more people need to start looking at alternate means to watch the fight rather than paying out of their own pocket. Watching it at a bar isn't as bad as paying for it out of your own pocket. There are also other ways which im sure most on here are aware of. I used to be happy to pay for Sky PPVs. Now I do everything to make sure that not only do I not pay but none of my mates do either.

The reply shows what they think about boxing fans. They think that because the Pac vs Mayweather fight finally got made and they showed it on PPV, that somehow they've had a great year and given us value? What a joke. The overall quality and quantity seems to have gone down sharply in the last couple of years. It's a shame, the arena shows are aimed at casuals and there's a lot of con jobs in the matchmaking that real fans can see through.

i have recently jibbed them off and have got myself an andriod tv box (im posting this reply using it now) its cost me about 200 to set up and thats it, not having any problems with what so ever.

i mentioned this in another thread, with allegedly , bt sport HD, sky sports in HD and a load of shite channels my bill per month was 143 , and with at least 3PPVs per year it worked out to over 1700!!!

Sky and matchroom make me sick, they go on about all the big things they are doing for british boxing and most of it is complete bollox. They have hijacked the sport we love and sell it back to us, well fornicate them.

Really have a good look at other options that are about, i did and i havnt looked back.

I subscribe to BN and think it's exceptional value for money and I hope that BT are monitoring the falling standards at Sky and can maybe see an opportunity to step in. Boxing Tonight is a decent little show and in Paul Dempsey they have a really authoritative presenter.

I generally go to the pub to watch them but there's only one bar on this entire island that shows PPV's so it can get a bit busy, Froch-Groves 2 was right in the middle of TT fortnight so it was frickin' mental in there.

Will always have a soft spot for Dempsey. Takes me right back to being a teenager staying up til the early hours for the big Naz or Lennox fights - Dempsey would always host the show looking top notch in a black tux, and gave a sense of gravitas & importance to proceedings which Sky just doesn't have any more. Ed Robinson is about the only presenter on Sky who I can take seriously.

I still havent seen the Joshua v Whyte fight due to being offshore but I have read in Boxing News and various things on twitter that it was a great fight etc and in the end it was worthy of PPV.
I dont care if it was a blown up Ward v Gatti or how good it was, it should never have been a PPV in its life!

The fact that im offshore in america with a full TV package and couldnt see it shows how big of an event it actually was.
