Easton v Benson 2016 could it Happen

2 Scottish super lightweights I see Billy Nelson on twitter talking Easton up and how he should have won the Scottish title and the judges got it wrong well Benson got the win and done well in the Amateur's the amateur's fights wont count in a pro fight ...if this fight happen's which I don't think it will unless its for Commonwealth title at least because Benson has a better management team with MGM ..Easton only has Billy Nelson and in this sport £££ talks but I do believe Easton will be the better Pro if he stays away from the party life style that young men can get into ...Benson is tricky once they take the training wheels off him and someone hits him back only then we might have a better idea what he's about his last fight was a pure joke and by this time next year we shall see who has the more promise

To be fair seawright is normally one of the pros who give it a go, Benson is set up better as he sells a shed load of tickets, he's fantastic at building himself and he's got the platform
With MGM. Not seen that much of Easton barring as a pro but he looks good to me. Just think that Lewis is so good at the basics it makes him look great, he throws a jab cross lightning then when they step in behind it he throws a great uppercut, I have heard all the rumours about him not taking a punch well but he came through and gave Ronnie his last spar before his fight and he has heart, hadn't trained and gave him the 10 rounds and although he tired he keeps digging it out. Really nice guy also and it's good to see nice guys doing well.

With respect if Jason keeps winning that is the main thing not who manages them, at the end of the day promoters pay for fights through purse bids then its simply down to the fighters on the night, Jason has adapted excellently to the pros has quality sparring with Lewis Ritson on tap.

These two boys had some really good fights at the Scottish Championships!! Jason imo was unlucky in one of them but Lewis Benson was a class act as an amateur. These guys would need to fight either for the Scottish or British Eliminator at least!!

David What do you think of the new boxing Scotland rules coming into place when you can't hold an amature and professional licence at same time , and pros and ams can't be in same gym at same time I think it will lose a lot of good coaches and clubs ?

I don't think they have ruled it out yet 100%, think they are peeved that so much boxers they funded for Glasgow Commonwealth Games have turned over so quick but it is just the way the sport goes. Look at Tom Stalker, he was on £30k + per year with the GB set up but still wanted to turn over so I don't know how they will police it without making the sport poorer for it. They are talking about contracts for boxers getting funding and i agree 100% with that.

When it comes to boxers wanting to turn professional I personally think they should only do it if they can't further their amateur career and would rather any of my boxers stayed amateur and boxed for Scotland or Britain at International level. Would be great if Boxing Scotland could fund a team similarly to that of the GB set up where the boxers can get properly funded by getting a monthly wage, that would give the boxers who need the money to support families etc the incentive to stay amateur.

Only my opinion and it will be interesting to see how they can enforce this when the GB set up allows Rob McCracken to train their team and he also brought Carl Froch and other professional fighters to train/spar with the GB amateur boxers?

Like you I rate everyone one that steps in no matter which level there at I didn't think i was making you sound bad for not mentioning you rate Benson plenty do and plenty don't which doesn't matter what matters is both boxers keep winning and at this level no promoter pays there wages its there ticket sales that pay for there fights and the away boxers wages and the promoters get the rest I know there is a big cost of putting on a show and as far as I read Benson has great sponsors and a very good ticket seller so he should get plenty of fights that he should win but iv also read he wants to move up quickly as for sparring Benson as the likes of Josh Taylor and loads of other tough boys that push him in Edinburgh ...I only posted this at first because you where on twitter having a wee debate with Benson I wasn't having a go at anyone since the loss of Burns there's no Big Shows even if all the promotion teams in Scotland could try and sit down with a Scottish tv station or some sort of internet link maybe you's could make it grow ... Form a meeting have the Young Ian Wilson in his own right has a very good Business head along with Tommy Gilmour Alex Morrison and the rest am sure these guys know if it could be done or not ....Our boxers just don't get a fair crack

Spot on David This is the kind of stuff Billy doesn't know or understand how many rules BSL make up for and try to get the clubs to police the white collar show in saying you cant have a boxer in your gym training for one am sure guys just keep fit mess about then go on these show which iv been to a couple of times and can be poor but the punters who are not real fans love it

with regards to ticket sales jason easton has sold over 100 tickets in each of his fights, given his debut was in motherwell the same night as an edinburgh show imo that was a great effort.
bottom line is mate if the two keep winning yes it would be a good fight ,one which im 100% confident Jason would win
