Please DM me and I will send you 2 comps for my next show on 19th March so you can see for yourself.

Many people buy tickets for Goodwin shows and stay for the whole event. We create an event so the majority dont come and go like happens in the majority of small hall shows.

Also we can only provide what we are asked to for an undercard. We were asked to provide 2 4 rounders and 2 6 rounders and our boxers must have good knock out ratios. We were not asked to put on competitive title fights which Goodwin Boxing is renowned for.
Ok mate, I'll take your word for it that your shows are full for the duration, it's just not the norm throughout the country. Thanks for the ticket offer but I don't live anywhere near London.

Fair play if your only supplying what is asked by Haye but it's not really an 02 standard undercard IMO, good luck anyway, as I said you are getting work for a lot of boxers over the season

I was told that 11,000 have been sold already (last week). This is being run as an event and show not just boxing so they are attracting a non boxing type audience. The guys I am supplying will do 2 thousand between them.

We will see but I am reliably told David looks fantastic in the gym.
I was told the same regarding tickets. They are using some really interesting marketing strategies for this fight and as you said, they are marketing it as an event. I know people on here are moaning about the undercard, but I would imagine that the vast majority of people will be going for the main event.

Your fighters on the undercard must be over the moon to be fighting at such a big venue and with the potential for such wide exposure. Well done mate. :TU:

Yes they are delighted. If they had wanted 10 round 50/50 title fights on the under card we would have supplied that. They believe their audience want explosive fights and knock outs. Hence we have put our big punchers on the undercard. Great opportunity for them and we are delighted to be able to do this.

Haye is talking about explosive knockouts on the bill, which again, I think is an interesting marketing ploy. I also thought that it was interesting that David was on Sky Sports News for 15 minutes on Christmas Day - especially when you consider he ain't a Hearn fighter and his fight likely isn't being shown on Sky.

I am sceptical, but if they have/do, well done to them. It's difficult to accept when the Joshua fight and Manchester show ran in concurrent weeks followed by Xmas and new year. I hope I'm wrong, good luck to them.

I have it on very good authority regarding the tickets. Steve Goodwin's number is within 500 of what I was told a week ago.

That would be outstanding. It would beg the question how can the Manchester show only sell around 4K in tickets if this one can shift so many. Are non-boxing promoters doing a better job than the boxing promoters ?

We'll see. I find it highly implausible given factors ranging from the time of year (a notorious 'graveyard' of consumer activity) through to the fact there has been no sign of significant overt promotion. I also find it hard to believe Haye has such a strong fanbase given his time away from the sport.

Just to be clear, I don't count myself among the Haye 'haters', I think he could really make the heavyweight mix interesting in 2016. My view is driven by a rational assessment of the situation - to have shifted 11k in those circumstances would border on unprecedented.

They have been using some interesting new marketing techniques and are targeting the casual fans, sports fans, previous Haye customers and other people that want to see a show, not necessarily an evenly matched main event.

As Steve said, it's being marketed as an event, as opposed to a boxing card.

I have seen nothing in this card, and I know a kid on it! It's already near the numbers of Brook/Mitchell/Selby/AJ? Behave yourself. And it's nothing to do with my dislike of old sicknote. When he boxed Barret there, he did a lot less than 11,000, despite the infamous 2-1 offer. He was never a huge seller without the right opponent and since his retirement, all he seems to have done is upset people.

Yeah, I'm getting a little bored of the whole instagram/twitter celeb posting 'Hayeday' nonsense now for this 'Event'. For all the talk of 50-50 fights, which usually aren't - this looks like a 95-5 fight down on paper, and its getting publicity and hype just because it's got David Haye's name attached to it. The event itself may as well be Haye having a piss against a wall. That's about how much of a challenge this should be. And I'm sure there'll be a crowd full of football fans singing the bullshit 'there's only one'/'winter-wonderland' song with Haye's name thrown in there. Jesus wept.

I'm referring to the main event. The undercard looks fairly good - especially as it seems it's been put together quite quickly - and I have a lot of respect for Goodwin and his fighters. It's definitely superior to a lot of the undercards on Sky Sports recently (and the Fury/Wlad undercard). I just wish that Haye had gone for a warm-up fight on an earlier show's undercard, rather than being the main event with an overmatched opponent with a padded record, who's never fought at this level. I don't mind an undercard being a showcase for fighters to win - but IMO, all shows should have a main event where the opponent has at least a 20% chance of winning to make it watchable. But hell, it's David Haye.... he's a name and people are happy to pay whopping ringside seats to see him deck a guy - so that's the bottom line.

If it's free, or on something that I already pay for, then of course I'll watch it. Less that I'll be wondering if Haye might lose, but more that I'd watch to see if he looks as fast as he did 3 years ago. In order to give some kind of estimate of how he might fare in a competitive fight in the future (Joshua/Fury/Povetkin/Ortiz).

Not hard to imagine, most boxing promoters are terrible at actually promoting a show.

After 12 pints, that's quite a challenge. You can miss-aim, and end up with half of it down your leg.

11000 seems more than reasonable to me, and I fully expect it to be a sell out.

David Haye is (was) a crossover star, he speaks well, pushes himself out there, and got himself opportunities - he went in the jungle, went on Alan Carr, Graham Norton, and even had his own TV show for a while.

He is attracting the sort of audience that will go there for the 'event' not for the fight itself, the people that see it is as a whole night out and will be tweeting, Instagram-ing, and Snapchating the whole event. This is a major boxing event for the casual fan, if you ask your casual friends to name 5 UK boxers they are almost guaranteed to say Froch, Fury, Haye, and Khan.

Plus the 2k+ that the undercard / Goodwin Promotions will sell, and you are getting very close to a sellout.

It is all about knowing your target market, and by getting names such as Rugby stars, Youtubers, the Lad Bible to tweet about #HayeDay (genius marketing name), and you have your event, and you have a sellout in my opinion.

(100% agree it goes against the grain and would not work for 99% of boxing events)

I disagree with most of that, especially the bit where your "casual friends"(?) only give four names when asked for five.

Hahaha, I had a feeling someone would question that.

What I meant by that is your friends that are ‘casual’ fans of boxing would almost certainly know who Fury, Khan, Froch, and Haye are, if asked for 5 (a generic number for this sort of question) then the 5th would be a bit more of a push.

They may know Joshua, or Groves, or maybe someone they have seen in the local paper; but what I am saying is that Haye is extraordinarily well known across the country, and the marketing / promotion for this card has to reflect that.
