We have John Wilkinson looking JUST for that!
10 weeks to get ready. Well....once the contracts are agreed upon, it would be seven weeks of intense training the final week tapered off. Six week grueling. The first three weeks would be "anything" really & only three times a week. Running started in the first three weeks. What of training? Well.... "standard". No "magic bullet" about getting into "great shape" it is work & more work. But, to answer your question we will JUMP ROPE SOME. HVY BAG ALWAYS. SPAR. Probably will do 40- 45 total r. Warm ups. "RUNNING VERY IMPORTANT". "Slowly get into the SHAPE REQUIRED"! WILL BE JW 14 TH PRO. He has been RETIRED THIS IS A COMEBACK. Welterweight boxer will LOOK AT OTHER "Senario's!"

I second that. Old school road work is overrated.

Excessive running on the road causes shin splints, and swollen ankles and sore knees.
Even if the running is done solely on a treadmill or soft grass or soft track surface, excessive running leads to
slowness/sluggishness,especially in the fast twitch muscle fibers. I redd a book years ago about a martial artist air force
sargeant who verified all of this as he had been running 7 miles per day for a certain period of time until he realized during sparring that all the excessive running mostly just contributed to him becomming much slower/slowed down, even flat footed.

Running excessively,as in anything much over 3 miles and one is relying much too much on running as they're main source of cardio. Building cardio capacity is a huge plus when training for a fight especially if theyr'es a good chance it will be a dragged out war of a battle but mix things up for cripes sake ! As someone has mentioned allready, somewhere, Utilize swimming into the cardio training. That along with bicycling, jumping rope, and squats and/or lunges will pay dividends for enhanced stamina capacity.

hill sprints,
- going uphill lessens impact and reduces injuries as you cant overextend anything. try not to fall over.

cycling (build up to with weights on ankles),
swimming
- both of these are great if you have time as they are low/no impact

shadow boxing (build up to with hand/wrist weights)

sparring a good mix of people, (not liberty takers obv but a wide range of speeds/styles)

plenty of focus pad and bag sessions, aimed at workrate. half the battle is your nervous energy, you need to have a mentality of working as hard in rd 8 as you did in rd 1

if you/he is boxing 8x2s is that an unlicensed bout or something similar?

One thing is stamina, another is pacing yourself.

So if you did not have 6-8 rounders before, try to get some sparring sessions like this just to get familiar with that. I had to readjust my style a bit when moved from completely recreational 3 rounds to a bit more serious 6-8... I was still getting out of steam at the end and this had nothing to do with being in/out of shape, but with spending too much energy in the opening rounds (which was OK when there were only 3 of them).

You probably have a LOT TO GIVE. Took me a while to learn to deal with "coaching". I think it's GOOD during the training but at fight time, I like only to get into my own little\private thoughts.

I went to BRUNEI for a year assignment one time with the U.S. Sports Academy. I was their fifth AMERICAN COACH. I'm a drills type of conditioning COACH. Do you know boxer John Scully? He is "well known" and perhaps skillful at getting someone into good fighting shape. He has handled a FEW world champs to date.
You COACH Amateurs?
Pat Nappi the Ex Olympic Coach never had a fight in his whole life.
A good COACH is a FRIEND.
