I know that on paper this is an 'easy' fight for Haye but he has only fought 15 minutes in the last 53 months.

I think he'll win in 2 or 3 rounds (or whenever he's bet) but who knows. He is 35 now (bloody hell, I remember him as a teen).

Hopefully he wins & so does Chisora next & we have a very interesting few years in the UK Heavyweight division.

The preparations for the comeback of former two-weight world champion David Haye are running far from smoothly –– and that has been further proved by the latest setback suffered to the ‘Haye Day’ promotion.

Haye (26-2, 24 KOs), 35, is set to return to the ring after a three-and-a-half-year hiatus in two weeks’ time, on January 16, at London’s O2 Arena against Australia’s Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) over 12 rounds in a non-title showdown. And while the issue isn’t with the main event, the promotion as a whole is on the back foot before it has even started with a lack of broadcaster and now no chief-supporting contest.

Former IBF world featherweight champion Billy Dib (39-4, 23 KOs) had been appointed as second in command to the Haye-De Mori clash and he was scheduled for a non-title 10-round tussle with former English featherweight title challenger Jamie Speight (13-8, 1 KO). But that has now been scratched after Dib, who announced his withdrawal via social media, pulled out, citing injury. “It is with great regret that I announce I’ve been ruled out of my Jan 16th fight due to an injury I suffered during training camp,” the Australian, 30, wrote on his official Twitter account. “[A] big thanks to all the amazing boxing fans in the UK. God willing I’ll be back soon.” And despite the bad news, opponent Jamie Speight put a positive spin on things, also taking to Twitter to say: “I’m sure me and Billy [sic] can get it on again. [David Haye] can make it happen."

The latest complication with the return of ‘Hayemaker’ leaves the card bare and with a lack of any real quality, boasting an undercard featuring ex-British super middleweight ruler Tony Dodson (31-8-1, 15 KOs), as well as Wadi Camacho, Kay Prospere, Jose Lopes and Josh Kennedy.

I agree totally it would be miles better to do it in a small hall, fill somewhere up with a few hundred noisy spectators, couple of British level scraps on the undercard and everyone would go home happy. I think Haye has massively overestimated his current standing and reputation within the sport, which would be typical as he clearly has a massive ego.

I just looked at the undercard! Dreadful. There's a surreal quality to Haye these days and everything he does, an element of 'Spinal Tap' about his interviews and the build up to this fight, even his new haircut. I'm waiting for him to turn round and tell us all it's just been a big joke.

They won't spending much on the undercard, indeed the undercard fighters (as is true with most Goodwin/lower level shows) are likely to be required to sell a number of tickets or are on a percentage ticket deal.

I assume Hayemaker are controlling everything so they don't have to pay promoter or manager fees.... Haye's a good name and good at promoting himself in the media.... So will get press and sell tickets. That will attract casuals who only care about his fight and don't give a sh1te about the undercard. He also has lots of celebrity friends and people who will buy the premium tickets. The fact it's on YouTube will in itself gather a lot of PR.

Also, I don't know much about monetising YouTube, but as I understand, may people make advertising money out of YouTube especially if their channel is popular. So Hayemaker may well make additional cash through this medium. (I would be happy if someone can explain how you tubers make cash, as I'm not au fait enough to know )

So my opinion is - if the show sells well enough ticket wise it will be a triumph for Hayemaker. He will keep most of the money, he may well open up a new revenue source / channel (free or budget price for the consumer) that will become the norm and Hayemaker will be regarded as a marketing genius!

Who knows. But anything that benefits the customer and fan has to be welcomed.

I can't remember their names, but they were the two brothers at the press conference. Haye told them how much he needed for him, the opponent and the undercard and they said yes.

I have a feeling Haye will fight in Dubai at some point.
