If the Joshua figure is correct then it's a bit of an anomaly (heavyweights, gold medal, etc), Groves got less than that for the second Froch fight.

Golovkin reportedly got $2M dollars for his last fight and Saunders is the 'B-Side'.

I wonder if 6 million is is the price Warren/Saunders have named to make the fight happen.
Groves got 6 or 7 million for Froch 2 didn't he?

George got £2.5m

Froch £8.5m

Imo there's no way in the world AJ got £3m for the Whyte fight
Didn't Groves get 25% because it went to purse bids?

I wouldn't be surprised if he got that much, they are saying it sold over 400,000 PPV's that's £6.5m, 17,000 tickets on the night, overseas TV rights etc etc, fight must have generated well over £10m and he was the star.

He never got anywhere near 3m. Bruno got around that, as champ, for defending against Tyson in Vegas.

£3m is enough to retire and live comfortably for the rest of your life.

Yeah, but £3m thirty years ago was worth 10 x as much.

I'm not saying that, I'd never work again if I had a cheeky £3m, I'm just saying it's worth a lot less than 30 years ago and it's not inconceivable that AJ got paid it.

Yeah when you put it in that context but I wouldn't say its not much money, just not as much as it was.

I agree with you that AJ could have earned that btw.

It was less than 20 ago. You couldn't buy a house for anything like that then.

Yeah I was out by a decade, similar principles apply though, a million pound then was a fortune, now you wouldn't have much change if you bought a half decent house in London.

Frank wants BJS to fight in March and if the GGG fight was made could happen in a stadium over here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0emLPEzJ220

wonder if Fr@nk W@rren could make a fight with Danny Jacobs before the Golovkin fight?
Would help get BJS name out in America and would give him the regular title to Golovkins super title...

I don't think Jacobs would come over here and Frank wont want to take his new world champion out to America yet, someone like Geale for more world level experience would do.

GGG is in an unfortunate position, he's super dangerous and exciting but doesn't generate much money, all this talk of people avoiding is purely down to business, if he generated money like Floyd did and his opponents were getting paid as much, fighters would be queuing up to fight him. It's risk vs reward.

Didn't his last fight do good TV numbers in the states? Well, considering him and Lemiux aren't Americans.

Just this interview so far.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0emLPEzJ220

They haven't made a decision yet, waiting on Jimmy Tibbs coming back, then they'll all sit down at some point in the next couple of weeks and decide where to go next. VVarren says that he wants him to fight in March/April and if they do go for the Golovkin fight, the money on the table right now isn't enough.
