Canelo will fight Monroe or Rosado

I bet that if the choice is between those two, then Canelo will pick feather-fisted Monroe. Even if Monroe lasts 12 rounds, there is no risk for Canelo to lose, as he always has 1-2 pocket judges.

On the other hand, gutsy Rosado can create problems late in the fight if he is not cut.

I don't want to see poor Rosado get beat up once again. He has the heart of a lion, but he's too easy to hit.

Monroe has only been stopped once, he's a faster younger better opponent.

Surely he can't have the brass neck to let these guys weigh in at 160 then ask for a catchweight for GGG

If at 155, hell no. I would much rather see him fight Andrade at 155.

And he should not. Especially that GGG is adamant about not doing catchweigh.

..I never accepted the legitimacy of Canelo's claim to fight at catchweight...if he's too sexy for MW, he might as well drop the belt and go one weight up or down...

GingerHead is the last Mexican prima doña standing. He faces a growing backlash with the old school crowd going forward if he doesn't man up and defend the MW belt at the 160 limit.

Probably not the worst marketing move by them, building a solid hater base.

I don't think that anyone would mind watching Canelo vs. Rosado. I think that Rosado poses the least threat of the two. Canelo needs to stay away from the slick boxer type like Monroe. The last thing Canelo needs is another Lara situation as he has failed to impress against the faster boxers with a lot of movement.

Gabe Rosado deserves it. The poor guy's paid enough dues and been so unlucky with both of his eyes costing him some close fights. He deserves one more big fight and I really hope he gets the shot and one last chance to impress before hanging them up for good. Anyone that has a problem with Rosado's heart and effort he gives in there, isn't a true fan at all. The word "Warrior" gets thrown around too much but with Gabe Rosado, you can't find a better word to describe him.

I am pefectly fine with canelo taking a soft touch (especially if it is going to be on regular HBO not PPV) as long as he fights GGG in the fall. He just fought cotto, not every fight needs to be tough.

I think Munroe will give him a good fight, under-rated.

Monroe got beat up and quit vs Golovkin and Rosado has lost 4 of his last 5 fights not included the NC vs Love. Neither deserve a title shot. Both poor fights for the lineal Middleweight champion and one of the biggest draws in boxing.

So what's wrong with Canelo facing a ff Monroe?? GGG faced him and you didn't call Monroe that then. Besides Canelo's resume makes GGG's look like used toilet paper.

I get your point but if Canelo chose to fight Monroe it would be instead of fighting GGG, whereas GGG fights guys like Monroe just to keep busy.

Actually monroe could win some rounds (Maybe even make it a very close decision)

Whereas Rosado will not win a single round, he is tailor made for a guy like Canelo who will either stop him late or win a wide UD.

Now if Monroe fights on the inside like he did against GGG he will probably get knocked out late, but if he boxes from the outside and frustrates Canelo (He couldnt Box Golovkin because GGG cant be outboxed from the outside) he will make the bout competitive.

If I was Canelo I would choose Rosado since he is more known, he is the perfect opponent to test the waters at 160 and it would be a WAY more exciting fight than Monroe.

My point was towards Ikey, he readily criticizes Canelo for fighting the same guy his hero GGG fought but yet he said nothing of the sort when Triple G fought him.

Dude needs to stop being so fake/transparent and a huge Hypocrite.

Both of them already said they wanted a tune-up bout before they fought, I don't see a problem in Canelo facing Willie Monroe as a tune-up especially given the fact that his resume takes huge/gigantic sh*ts all over GGG's lame resume.

Out of those two, I hope it's Monroe. He could give Canelo some problems with his speed, combo punching, lateral movement. He certainly landed his share of shots on GGG, but was outgunned, could not put a dent in him and got broken down in a high pace fight. I don't see how Rosado has much of chance against Canelo. He'll try his ass off, but he will play right into Canelo's hands, who will be too skilled with his counter-punching and would beat him up bad.

Where exactly did I criticize Canelo? I just said that there is no way Monroe can beat him. I was actually unhappy every time GGG fought somebody feather-fisted which included both Monroe and Murray, as there is absolutely no way except an injury those guys could beat Gennady. Geale was ok just because he is a former champion. I am more excited about fights like Lemieux or even Rubio where opponents have at least puncher's chance.

Maybe I misread but I could've sworn you said something about Monroe being "feather-fisted", my bad if you didn't.

If he fights one of these guys at 155, his hater base will grow significantly, and rightfully so.

Ugh, instead of the Golovkin/Canelo fight that the whole world wants to see, we get to spin our wheels for another 6 months with Canelo/Monroe and Golovkin/Johnson.

This is the problem with boxing.

No, it's a problem for the whole sport. This isn't unique to this situation. It happens all the damn time.
