Prime Lennox Lewis vs past prime Vitali

Post by conty22 »

So guys , let's turn the cards.

Young hungry Vitali Klitschko who studied Lewis for years ... strugled against past prime Lewis who was in his worst shape.

Don't tell me that Vitali would have won in 2003 , he dominated first 2 rounds and landed some good punches . But since 3rd round Lewis started landing those powerfull bombs.

Last round clearly showed who took the control of the fight. Lewis landed some deadly uppercuts and all what Vitali did was CLINCHING

His face was destroyed like this Image

SO WHO WINS , PAST PRIME VITALI (chisora fight) OR LEWIS ?

Would be Vitali able win even on TKO (cuts) like past prime Lewis did?

Lewis wins. I'd fancy him to do it by KO.

We can't say with all certainty but based on their fight as you stated against an out of prime Lewis who cut him severely and stopped him then one could easily argue that a prime Lewis would've turned his lights out but we'll never know.

One thing we do know is that Lennox stopped him.

Lewis was preparing to harpoon Kirk Johnson, the short notice hurt him much more than Vitali(who was on the undercard). Not Vitali's fault, but a telling reason why the fight was so tight imo. Not that it matters, lennox ended it emphatically.

Ok, let's play this game with another fighter. Past prime 37 y.o. Lewis vs prime Holyfield? My vote: Holyfield by big KO. Lewis won't last more than 6-7 rounds (at best)

Don't really understand the point of the game. A Past Prime Lennox already beat a Prime Vitali. Why do we need to imagine the fight if the roles are reversed when it already didn't work out for Vitali when the youth advantage was to his benefit?

This win and the Mike Tyson win are why Lewis is often so overrated, but to answer the question a prime Lewis would comfortably beat a past Prime Vitali imo

So you agree that Klitschkos are overrated and Evander was better :) Because Vitali got his ass kicked by an old fat man in late rounds and he was no able to knock him out.

Of course Holyfield was better, who said he was worse?

Good write up, I do remember some of the bantering back and forth about what happened in the Olympics and whatnot and the fact that LL had gotten sparked out by OMcCall.

I didn't realize how much that made a difference in the outcome of them getting together. Thanks.

Ass kicked in the late rounds? This site is out of control with folks who don't even watch the fights they write about.... Great heavyweight fight. Honestly one of the most exciting in modern history. Vitali has never been down. Don't get the brothers confused. Also in Lewis' prime he had some really rough struggles. Not sure he wasn't far off his physical prime in this fight. Loved how he showed absolute guts taking some big shots and firing back. Greatest moment of his career for me.
