David Hayes Weight
David Hayes Weight
He looks bloody massive.
Biggest weight was 222 pounds for Ruiz but then he settled back down to 210 for the Klit & Chisora fights.
So what do you reckon he'll weigh in at on Friday?

Re: David Hayes Weight
He said he is not trying to drop down to near cruiser weight as he used to do. So he will be heavy, 220 ish I guess. I wonder how that's going to affect his performance. He wont be able to move around as much as before.

Interesting. When Herbie Hide bulked up he became so slow that he got chinned by Joe Chingangu.
Re: David Hayes Weight
Only because Chingangu hit him with a foul shot on the break, from which Hide never recovered. The chump in charge that night didn't twig it was a foul and let Chingangu put him down three more times.Tuan_Jim wrote:Interesting. Chingangu hit him on the break at the exact same moment Herbie Hide was trying to hit him on the break. Tough luck Herbie.dookus wrote:Only because Chingangu hit him with a foul shot on the break, from which Hide never recovered. The double standards are amazing.

Yup bad move really; his main asset was his speed of foot and hand.Tarkus wrote:He said he is not trying to drop down to near cruiser weight as he used to do. So he will be heavy, 220 ish I guess. I wonder how that's going to affect his performance. He wont be able to move around as much as before.
The extra weight won't help him; he already had/has enough power to hurt most of these guys without the extra 10-15lbs.
Re: David Hayes Weight
How is that a double standard? If Herbie had hit him first on the break then Chingangu should have been given five minutes to recover, just as Herbie should have been. Both men trying to break the rules doesn't mean the rules should not apply!Tuan_Jim wrote:Chingangu hit him on the break at the exact same moment Herbie Hide was trying to hit him on the break. Re: David Hayes Weight
Ah well. Hide had a long history of hitting on the break, punching guys when they were down etc. The veteran Bigfoot Martin called him the dirtiest fighter he ever faced. So one of his overmatched opponents finally used his own tactics on him. It all evens out.
But back to the point, Hide looked awful when he bulked up. He lost whatever it was he had.

I think most of that weight is his ego!
He'll probably be about 220lbs & if he does actually show up, it will be interesting see how much speed he still has.

Re: David Hayes Weight
Reading his latest interview, looks like he plans to come in around 16 stone (225lbs).
Re: David Hayes Weight
Perhaps he can't get down to 210(ish) anymore after the long lay off? Plus he's nearly mid 30s. The extra weight won't help him in the long run but I can't see it being a factor on Saturday.black panther wrote:Yup bad move really; his main asset was his speed of foot and hand.Tarkus wrote:He said he is not trying to drop down to near cruiser weight as he used to do. Haye recently said he's eating a lot to keep his weight up as when he was lighter he got injured a lot when sparring with bigger blokes. He said he isn't a cut as he was before, I expect him to be around 16 stone.
Re: David Hayes Weight
Wasn't he bulked up for the Ruiz fight and looked rather sluggish there?

Yeah, heaviest he's ever been so far. He isn't the biggest guy in the world so it will be interesting to see how the extra weight works for him.dookus wrote:Wasn't he bulked up for the Ruiz fight and looked rather sluggish there?

He isn't a giant but when you are face to face with him it is hard to imagine him ever being a cruiser.Controversial wrote:Yeah, heaviest he's ever been so far. Re: David Hayes Weight
I think he'll be about 225lbs and will still look in great shape.
Lets be honest, he could come in at 270lbs and still out box and ko this challenger.
I think he'll settle at around 215 to 220 for his remaining fights. If he gets AJ he'll be closer to 210.

230 for me
Re: David Hayes Weight
Who cares ,,, He will have a harder time doing his bag work than what he'll get of De Mori
Re: David Hayes Weight
I wonder what the thinking is with his weight. He's always looked best when he is lighter. Interesting interview on toe 2 toe podcast today (which by the way is generally going from bad to worse) where Haye said he's had a really difficult 3 years, although he put in perspective, also saying he's not sure how he will be in the ring. I wonder if the reflexs are worrying him a bit and he gets tagged quite a bit in this fight.

It's much easier to remember the divisions that way as they are always talked about in lbsSupremo wrote:When did British folk start talking about people's weights in lbs ffs????
Re: David Hayes Weight
Could be worse, in bodybuilding we are using effing kilos. Right pain in the arse. I am 41 and starting to forget what a good old fashioned stone is ![[icon_e_sad.gif] :verysad:](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)
