Creed - movie opens 25th January
I see Stallone has won a Golden Globe award for supporting actor for his role of Rocky in the movie Creed. The movie opens in the UK in less than 2 weeks.
For those who have not seen it yet you are in for a treat so im not going to spoil anything for you but its hard in this day and age not to get by without hearing all sorts of things that tend to spoil it for those who want to go.
For those who have seen it what did you think of it? Ive been lucky to see it 2 times and cant wait for it to open in UK so I can go and see it again with British audiance sat with me and see how they react.
I think Stallone will win a Oscar for his supporting role too (if he gets a nomination)

Bang average. Only Rocky 5 is worse than this one in the franchise.

Have had a copy to watch for a fortnight and haven't been bothered yet.
Probably says it all about the last few Rocky films, and how crap Southpaw was!

if you know what your doing its been available to watch in decent quality for the last month
Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
I'm looking forward to watching it
People hear are very negative
Fair play to bellew as it's a great start if he fancies doing a bit of acting

Bellow played a good part. Just a typical British no frills actor which made it believable. His manager in the movie on the otherhand is bloody crap.
Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
Bellend annoys me in it
Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
As a rocky fan though i loved it,put someone else in it other than bellew and it would of been alot better, seemed weird seeinh the liverbirds and st georges hall in a rocky film tho,i know its creed but its still rocky

I dont support streaming or watching free sports etc etc. I would rather go to the cinema and pay Sky for their superb sporting coverage.danamba7 wrote:mimmy123 wrote:danamba7 wrote:Might watch it on Kodi tonight.

Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
I personally thought it was really good. Depressing yet uplifting.

3.5/10
Poor.
Poor.
Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
I found it underwhelming. There was a novelty factor in having Ward/Bellew/Rosado in it, and the acting was good from Stallone, Jordan and the love interest. It just didn't offer anything fresh for me other than being a solid reworking of the underdog story.
In the fight at Goodison there were times you could see the top tiers were all completely empty - I think they did some filming after a match one day and tried to get as many fans as possible to hang around for it. Funny to see Liverpool scarfs being waved close to the camera in Evertons stadium.
Bellew wasn't bad in it but his manager/promotor was terrible, just not believable at all really. The fight scenes were an improvement on prior Rocky movies but still not that realistic. Typical Hollywood boxing where one guy drops his hands and punches the head off his opponent who is not defending himself before opponent drops his hands and starts punching head off other guy.
I think being a boxing fan actually takes the enjoyment away from the film, at least for me it did. It probably sits a lot better with more casual fans who lap up everything in it.

Great point. I guess as boxing fans we're critical of the unrealistic and unlikely bit. However Rocky players a big part in getting me into boxing along with Bruno. Tyson, McGuigan....johnswan1 wrote: I think being a boxing fan actually takes the enjoyment away from the film, at least for me it did. I was very very disappointed with this. The fight scenes were nowhere near as good as they have been previously, there are about 6 different storylines that don't really go anywhere and it just seemed very bland! Glad I didn't pay in the Cinema to watch it!!

Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
Rocky V would've been good if it didn't have that awful Sage Stallone storyline.... That was just a vanity thing and took up a third of the film. And also if Rocky had ended up in the ring with Tommy Gunn rather than the street fight. The Insider wrote:Bang average. Only Rocky 5 is worse than this one in the franchise.
Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
Just saw it in the Cinema, it opens tonight. I've always thought Stallone deserves more credit for his acting as Rocky. He's played the part brilliantly. I thought his potrayal in "Rocky Balboa" deserved more acolades than it got..... he took it though to a whole new level with this performance.
I thought his Golden Globes win and Oscar nomination were mainly a sentimental thing, a bit like Wayne in true grit. However, whilst I haven't seen the other nominees - that was an Oscar winning performance. Abolsutely stole the show.
Really well done movie, great script.... up there with the better Rocky films.... Having said that, I really like Rocky V, so takke that into account when reading my appraisal.

I think he will win an oscar for his supporting role and for what its worth I liked rocky v too. its the only Rocky movie that made me cry (sounds daft but the Rocky, Mickey part in the gym is my all time fav moment)
Re: Creed - movie opens 25th January
Oh boy, I was chatting to father of one of my daughters friends today who knows I'm into boxing and he said "hey did you see the Creed movie? I thought it was brilliant. I didn't really like the English actor though - see the difference in their bodies - he had no muscle definition at all whereas Creed was ripped to shreds, the English guy just wasn't believable as a boxer".
