It's really obvious to me which current heavyweights "really" don't like training and he ain't one of them . Fury or Joshua pays better than Chagaev/Brown or Glazkov/Martin. The only other titlist that would generate the income and interest would be Wilder.leejonesjnr wrote:I don't think he will box Fury or Joshua.Rexob wrote:He will do pretty well and earn himself a few more million then eventually ending in a heavy defeat against the new king Tyson Fury.
WBA regular and second retirement I reckon.
He will want a title, but it will not take priority over a pay day IMO. If a title can be won with minimal risk and increases his chance of the payday, he'll go for it.
The best fight for him is Fury. Got some back story, a bit of needle and can be hyped to death, sells well and gets him the undisputed heavy weight crown if he wins (which he will strongly believe he will)

I thought he lost his position but god knows. The WBA are all over the place.Dusted Peyote wrote:Thought it was Fres Oquendo?lefty wrote:Pretty sure that the winner of Chagaev and Browne has to fight Ortiz next.

Awful mismatch.
Haye has a completely different physique than before.
He carries the weight well.

He has good genetics, we won't know what nick he's in until he goes a few rounds
Re: David Hayes Weight
Haye's lucky he was born in SE London. We ALL have good genetics there. You'll never see a fat person in Lewisham, Woolwich or the Elephant 8)
As for his future, another fight against a 'name' (doesn't really matter which name - could be Price). If he wins - and then he & Joshua have something controversial happen at a 'chance' meeting - then the 80,000 Wembley gig is ON!!!
Potential April/May opponents...
Price
Hammer
Charr (finally)
Rudenko (1st to stop him)
Duhaupas (quicker than Wilder)
One person he won't be fighting is Whyte.
Best of luck to them all.

He could have got shot in front of me & my brain is so buggered nowadays I'd forget the next day
Re: David Hayes Weight
A few have commented that Haye looked slower, I would agree but one thing that wasn't missing was his timing.
That's the one they always worry about after a lay off and the timing on a couple of his couters was perfect, particularly the right that basically finished it.
I'd be surprised if his speed ever matches what it was at his best, but I think it might improve a little if he gets his weight back to about 220lbs or below again. but then maybe he'll look to utilise that extra dig he gets from the weight, what do i know.
but as I say, i'd be happy with that outing, no sign of ring rust and the timing was spot on

Re: David Hayes Weight
Haye looked too big last night, i think he can easily go back down to 220 which considering his age isnt that bad a weight.

*******
Aside from that, I'm generally not concerned with Haye's weight at all. I thought he looked in great condition and he is 35 so some natural maturing will be evident plus, he said he'd been trying to move down in previous contests.
IF he gets bigger and continues that trend, then I'd raise concern. But not at 227.

The point? He wants to box again/wants to win another title/earn some money/wants to keep profile up for other earning opportunities perhaps.Horse wrote:Where is the big payday then?leejonesjnr wrote:I don't think he will box Fury or Joshua.
WBA regular and second retirement I reckon.
What's the point of coming back?
Sensible plan:
Mark de Mori - Comeback
Ruslan Chagaev - WBA Regular
Anthony Joshua - Big money
The biggest payday is probably against Joshua but he will earn good money boxing anyone.
I would pick him to beat Joshua at this moment in time, I just don't think the fight will happen.
Re: David Hayes Weight
The money made for winning the regular WBA title against someone the British public doesn't care about like Chagaev won't be that great.leejonesjnr wrote:The point? He wants to box again/wants to win another title/earn some money/wants to keep profile up for other earning opportunities perhaps.

I doubt he will have comeback after 3.5 years just for that.

We in Britain use to use the imperial system, but we're not allowed to now apparently & because successive governments have lacked balls, we're now lumbered with a curious mish-mash of the two systems.
I've always said, you should either use the imperial or metric system, not both.

It's a far more logical system that ties into the various measurements far more seamlessly as opposed to a mishmash of unrelated antique measurements.
The only countries that weren't metricated in 2006 were the USA, Myanmar, and Liberia, which is illustrative.
Though even in the US, the scientific community use metric measurements, as well as large parts of the high tech manufacturing sector, which again, is illustrative.
An old dog is perfectly capable of learning new tricks, especially if the tricks are logical.

Re: David Hayes Weight
Either way, it will be interesting to see if Haye maintains a weight of around the 100kg range.
I suspect that 103kg he came in at for de Mori is probably more comfortable for him at the age of 35, give or take a couple of kg's.
