Fury did not get lucky. His gifts (size, length) and skills (head movement, mobility, jab) were perfect to defeat WKlit. Did Wlad's age have something to do with it? Maybe. But, the thing that had the most to do with it was WKlit's concern for his weak chin against a bigger man with decent skills.

As far as Cotto goes, there would have been no controversy if Miguel decided to fight at the 160 limit and defend against 3G. Fury is giving the dethroned king his rematch and there is no indication that he intends to avoid anyone.

Fury is the king of the hill, like it or not. Any opinion to the contrary is pure conjecture until proven in the ring.
No one is disputing that fact. Fury owns the belt and he is officially the king of the hill of the division. This discussion is who is the best heavyweight in the world right now considering all of the heavyweight boxers. Most knowledgeable boxing opinions do not agree with Fury in the least.
Classic. So now the overwhelming majority of those with an opinion on this site are not knowledgeable? I'm not taking the bait. You are just flat out wrong, whether you consider yourself knowledgeable or not.

"Most knowledgeable boxing opinions" gave Fury little to zero chance v the acknowledged king of the HW division, WKlit.

Fury is the king of the HWs. That is a fact. All other opinions are based on conjecture, knowledgeable or not.
Once again, you fail to understand what this OP was all about. I'm not going to spend another few days trying explain it to you like last time. Not eating at that restaurant again but thanks.

does a boxer having all belt equal to being the best boxer in his division?

i can easily name you 4 boxer, who were considered undisputed champion of there division who lost, and basicly werent the best in their division, regardless of belts.

like the other guy said, beating an old guy doesnt make you the best boxer in the world. if fury beats ortiz and wilder, i am the first one to say "he is without a doubt the best heavyweight in the world". but beating a robotic wrestler, that doesnt give you the #1 spot. more importantly, you dont get the #1 of the opponents you beat, either your are #1 cause of your abilitys or you dont.

If Ortiz was the best HW in the world he wouldn't need to dope.

Wouldn't be surprised if Wlad is still the best. He had a bad performance against Fury. No excuses maybe his wife having a difficult time with the baby affected him too. She is receiving help now for post partum depression. He was not himself that night. Martin probably would have got a title shot sometime but how he won is so bad. Fight should be called NC. Fury will be tough for anyone with his size and boxing ability. Joshua didnt look ready for the big time against Whyte. Ortiz hard to say he has only fought a few good heavies and he is already 36.

You just listed a bunch of fighters who could have never beaten Wlad.

I don't neccesarily agree with closer.

But there's a few things you need to take into account there. Wlad was older when he fought Fury, certainly older than the version that fought Haye.
So chances are he fought a slower version who was not just quite as good as the younger model. And facing a big guy with long reach and quick defensive movement, he would have needed speed to get punches off (and of course the inclination to do so)

Another consideration is the difference in styles and in particular the size of those respective Wlad opponents.

Particularly against Haye and Povetkin, Wlad saw a significant threat and fought as ugly a fight as he ever has. He almost always spoils in fights but his wrestling got worse as the standard of his opposition improved.
He simply couldn't do that against Fury he was too big to bully and the way he fought the fight just never let Wlad do what he like to in a fight

i agree i still pick Wlad, then Fury. I think Fury had his night and Wlad wins a return, I'm happy to be wrong. time will tell. in 12 months i think Haye will be right in the mix, especially with his punching power.

I really think Wlad shouldn't fight Fury again he's going to get mullered next time and it's not going to be pretty he should just leave it he's done.
