Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
Re: Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
Hearn knows not to risk a future heavyweight champion against a former champion who has all the ability and new found power to pose a threat to the current title holders.
my way of seeing it Hearn thinks he already has the British and Commonwealth Champion on his books why should he risk a blemish on his (Joshua) record against a champion instead of letting his future champion get better in the mean time.

Re: Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
I agree but i think the issue is that Hearn and Joshua believed their own hype so much they had all but booked wembley for Haye v Joshua in the summer, they were talking all nonsense about how they could beat Fury and Haye. Now Joshua has failed to blow out an opponent they have ran for the hills. I know its a hype industry but if you give it large and dont back it up you get called on it, now they look like tits.Tarkus wrote:It is early for AJ to fight a world class operator yet. In a year time perhaps. Anyone criticizing team Joshua for not wanting to fight Haye now is out of his mind. You have to move up gradually.
Hearn makes perfect sense. IBF strap is there for the taking. Get it first, then make a big fight.

Totally agree.Controversial wrote: I don't recall him being in any real trouble to be honest, at the end of the day any heavyweight hit flush by a big punching 17-18 stone man will feel it, I don't get the train of thought that to have a great chin you must be impervious to pain and able to take any punch your hit with. Plenty of great fighters have been hurt, dropped or knocked out in their careers.
Re: Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
Where have you seen Joshua saying those things. If anything he is criticized for been too politically correct, stay humble and stuff. Hearns have said stupid things, but we are used to that from promoters.Finn wrote:I agree but i think the issue is that Hearn and Joshua believed their own hype so much they had all but booked wembley for Haye v Joshua in the summer, they were talking all nonsense about how they could beat Fury and Haye. Re: Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
I do get where people are coming from when they say that Joshua is a 15 fight novice and the likes of Lewis were not under pressure to fight a similar level of opponents to Haye.
However, Joshua is likely to be on ppv for the rest of his career and because of that, heart has forced an increase in the level of opposition. If he stays on ppv, he must fight Haye this year. If he goes back to Sat night sky then.he can continue his development at any pace

100% correct , they can't have it borh ways .. PPV and fighting given wins ,, ,, they want the money , lay it on the table ,,freddydoesdallas wrote:I do get where people are coming from when they say that Joshua is a 15 fight novice and the likes of Lewis were not under pressure to fight a similar level of opponents to Haye.

Straight after fury beat wlad Joshua did an interview On sky sports saying he would beat fury if they fought now. Google it.Tarkus wrote:Where have you seen Joshua saying those things. Instead Hearn says Haye doesn't fit in with his plan of Joshua fighting for a world title. Translation: 'My guy's got a glass chin and Haye can still hit. Do you have Charles Martin's number?'

Haye needs the money and knows AJ is an easy 2 round fight-if that!!
Haye has no belt - no form and beat a guy that hughie fury hit twice in sparring and ran out the ring.
Hayes a fraud a liar and to throw his words about Fury in his face "doesn't deserve the pay day - the boxing gods seem to be pointing that way"

They won't though, will they?coneye wrote:

The reason? People keep ordering them. If people order the PPVs to watch Joshua beat some journeymen inside of two rounds, they'll keep making those kind of fights. If there's mega-money to be made from low risk fights, Hearn will take it. He's a business man at the end of the day.
What Hearn won't do is modify his behaviour based on what people on an internet forum say of him. Hearn is only taking opportunities because people stump up money to watch name fighters, irregardless of fight quality. The only incentive to take higher risk fights, is if there's no money to be made on lower risk fights.
Part of the problem is Hearn greed, but a bigger part of the problem is that people are prepared to fund it.

Re: Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
Very true. Just because the boxing community doesn't think a fight/card is PPV worthy doesn't mean it won't be on PPV. Brook/Gavin, Haye/Audley, I'm sure we could come up with quite a list of fights that made a heap of cash on Box Office despite being crap/one-sided fightsILikeBeer wrote:They won't though, will they?coneye wrote:

Re: Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
It was not me who said it, however that is something that Peter Fury has said. They employed him as a sparring partner, when Hughie was 18 years old. Hughie hit him with a jab and back hand and De Mori literally spun around and looked like he did not know what he was doing. Peter told Hughie to go easy but it made no difference, one round and he then fecked off home as was out of his depth.Counter-puncher wrote:SMALL AXE1 wrote:

Re: Eddie Hearn says no to Joshua/Haye
whilst we would like this to be the case i disagree, i think lots of people will buy ppv to watch him spark fights below Haye's level. Some of us may not buy unless the card is stacked, but i think plenty will. People are well on board the train.freddydoesdallas wrote:I do get where people are coming from when they say that Joshua is a 15 fight novice and the likes of Lewis were not under pressure to fight a similar level of opponents to Haye.

His plan is to make as much money as possible and only fight once every 6 months from now on, if he continues to fight every two months all answers are known within a year and there is no money to make left.

I don't disagree with that at all. Plenty of people will pay to watch watch him knock over tin cans. However, I do think we (boxing fans) all need to say that ppv is only acceptable for high level fights such as Haye, fury, wilder95gerog wrote:whilst we would like this to be the case i disagree, i think lots of people will buy ppv to watch him spark fights below Haye's level.
