I highly doubt Werdum will be able to take Cain down. Cain is 100x the wrestler Werdum is. Cain was so exhausted the first time around, Werdum did whatever he wanted and Cain was unable to stop it. This time will be different. Honestly, when was the last time you have seen Cain sucking wind the way he was after the 1st round against Werdum?

I feel Werdum is going to get overwhelmed this time. I'll be surprised if Werdum ends the victor.
I never said Werdum would take Cain down or even try to. I said that Cain is facing someone who he doesn't offer a takedown threat when striking to which changes a lot striking wise. It doesn't mean Werdum will win but it means Cains striking won't have the big thing it normally has going for it.
Sry man. I had misunderstood that post.

What is wrong with Cain's body? 3 fights in 3 years because he just cannot stay healthy.

I'm also surprised Miocic was chosen over Overeem as the replacement.

Well now Werdum has pulled out too. Why not have Miocic v Overeem now instead

Is Overeem out of contract? Can't see that being resolved and getting him to the fight with 2 weeks notice.

True, forget about that.
Thing is, they really gotta put something else on the card. Without Velasquez v Werdum it is a very weak ppv , not even as good as the free one in Boston.

No where near. One of the weakest UFC PPVs I've seen. Injury curse strikes again!

No longer a PPV.

Hendricks/Thompson will headline UFC 196 on FOX Sports 1.... :bag:

Conor states that he is thinking of going for the title at 170 as well. Not sure who would be champ at that time if it ever happens. But, I expect Hendricks to reclaim the title as long as he gets past Thompson, which I believe he will.

Can you imagine him in with the likes of Big Rigg??? Conor allows himself to get hit way too much at 145. If he allowed that at 170..... it would be interesting. They are about the same height, and Conor has a longer reach. But the power of Hendricks, and that wrestling...

How you think he fares at 170?

I'd be more interested in this if he beats RDA. Lawler is a decent style match-up for him, but there are a lot of big grapplers at 170 that'd beat him.

I don't think he beats RDA. The talk of him moving up to 170 is ludicrous.

170 is absurd I agree. I'm pretty sure he's just trying to drum up some publicity. If he did get a title shot it would be ridiculous. I imagine Hendricks will be next should he win

I think Conor has every chance in the LW division. Could even be more effective then at FW. He's bigger than RDA don't forget. Jumping up another 15lbs to WW would be madness though. I rate Conor's striking up there with the best of them at any weight but his power surely isn't going to have much affect at 170.

I really hope RDA takes Conor out. But, Conor carries himself with so much confidence, it puts doubt in my mind.

The butterflies will be in full effect in my gut when Conor and RDA get in that cage. I can't remember the last time I've wanted to see someone get beat down so badly.

I'm honestly not convinced he beats Aldo in a rematch.

Possible but Conor would be strong favourite. I found RDA's comment embarrassing when he said Aldo beats Conor 9 times out of 10. When are people going to recognize Conor is an elite striker with a solid chin? He's not where he is solely because of his chat.

The UFC has to try and renegotiate this deal with Reebok. It's an unmitigated disaster. They've completely alienated a huge portion of their veteran roster. Kennedy and Schaub have effectively retired because of it, Thomson already jumped ship to Bellator and it looks like Bendo and Overeem have one foot out the door. Diaz, Cerrone, and Dos Anjos have all been fined due to the draconian dress code requirements. And this can't be good for Reebok, either. They hoped to increase their brand awareness among MMA fans but how good can it be going when you have popular fighters tweeting about how the deal is taking money from their pockets?

Well I guess that's the end of the Sage Northcutt hype, at least for now. They give him a showcase on a major card and he responds by tapping to one of the weakest submission attempts in recent UFC history.

Agreed. Don't hate the guy getting the contract. Hate your manager for not getting you a contract you are happy with.

Don't hate the guy getting the push. If you believe he is getting pushed unfairly, ask the guy pushing. Egg is on Dana's face, not a 19 year old novice.

I think people are forgetting, Northcutt already had a couple of opponents fall through and he agreed to go up in weight to stay on the card.

That was a loss due to lack of experience more than anything:

- stop with the Hollywood style kicks
- when taken down, try to escape rather than hold on and wait for the round to end
- don't strike with open hands when on the ground. It looks like a tap. (it appears he was confused as to why the ref stopped it)

Tend to agree but considering how weak the HW division is, he was a useful fighter to have around. Certainly no worse than Lewis or Pesta or Duffee or any of the other C-list HWs they have on the roster.

And really the other fighters I mentioned are all bigger misses than Schaub.

To be honest i'm just a huge fan of the guy based on his podcast more than anything. Seems a bit of an idiot and spends most of it boasting about what car, etc, he's got.
