harrison/bruno/naseem were all talked up and found out like I believe khan will be quite soon.
Re: Khan--yet another con man
Bruno and Naz found out? They may not of been all time greats but they were still great fighters.lirva33 wrote:he does have a slight point here.tigerpomfret wrote:I wonder how long it will take the British public to suss out this conman, same old story, just like harrison, prince naseem, frank bruno ,henry cooper, will you lot never learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Khan--yet another con man
Naseem lost one fight to Barerra....that's it. Hardly a disgrace. sure, he never became an all time great, but he had a fantastic run and beat good fighters, he is head and shoulders better than the likes of Bruno and Henry cooper.lirva33 wrote:he does have a slight point here.tigerpomfret wrote:I wonder how long it will take the British public to suss out this conman, same old story, just like harrison, prince naseem, frank bruno ,henry cooper, will you lot never learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Khan is unlikely to get found out for quite some time, and he's still just a kid who is going to improve with time.
Jury is out on Khan, but Naseem was a fantasically gifted fighter who fell not far short of greatness.

Re: Khan--yet another con man
he was built up as the second coming of Ali, just like Khan is being built up like the second coming of Ali. The greatest featherweight ever etc. And he got found out like Khan will be.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Naseem lost one fight to Barerra....that's it. I think that is the point that the OP is making.

Naz was only ever beaten by a legend, not exactly found out.lirva33 wrote:he does have a slight point here.tigerpomfret wrote:I wonder how long it will take the British public to suss out this conman, same old story, just like harrison, prince naseem, frank bruno ,henry cooper, will you lot never learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ingle........good fight, nearly had Naz's number
Soto.................Over rated
Bungu........who the hell was Bungu any way.
Although I liked Naz, he was limited and we all knew he would get beat when he faced someone like Bazza.

Don't talk bollocks.
Tell me how Wayne McCulloch was shot? He'd gave Morales a hard fight the year AFTER he faced Hamed.
Funny isn't it how most pundits and people in the media were picking Hamed to win if 'we all knew' he was going to lose....
How did Ingle nearly have Naz' number? He was behind on the scorecards by a fornicating country mile, and was stopped!! The surprise was that he nearly lasted the distance, because everyone thought Hamed would obliterate him.
Kevin Kelly ran Derrick Gainer very close the year AFTER losing to Hamed, there was only a round or two in it.
Bungu was a long running IBF champ of fair pedigree, who won his title from Kennedy McKinney, he hadn't lost since 1991, and had never been stopped, but got totally flattened by Hamed.
Christ Medina and McCulloch both went the distance with Harrison, who despite his limitations is a massively strong featherweight, some years after losing to Hamed.
To describe any of the men on that list as bums isn extremely disrespectful as they were all top drawer fighters.

mcCullough lost to a 40 year old man and got a beaten up every time he stepped up. Good chin, what else?
Bungu was a protected fighter who lost when he stepped up. By no means a top fighter.
Medina = b class. Harrison = C class. Kelly = B class.
A class = Barrera, Morales, Marquez, PBF,
Naz would be beaten by all them. he was hyped up but would never have beaten an A class fighter like that.

The guys you mentioned are not just A class, they are hall of famers, you don't have to be a hall of famer to be an A class fighter.
There's a ridiculous notion in boxing that everyone outside of the absolute elite in the world are somehow 'bums' which is very ignorant. Anyone good enough to live with the likes of an Erik Morales, Barrera, etc is obviously a very good fighter, because they fall short does not make them bums.
The 40 year old McCulloch happened to be Daniel Zaragoza, himself a hall of famer who pulled out one last big win. He was still good enough to extend Morales 11 rounds in his next fight and was not far behind on the cards at the time of the stoppage.
McCulloch is hardly C class, C class is journeymen not former fornicating champs.

McCullough is a B class fighter with an A class chin. Guy was tough as nails.jamesmcdonnell wrote:The guys you mentioned are not just A class, they are hall of famers, you don't have to be a hall of famer to be an A class fighter.

I don't know James, but looking through his posts he doesn't seem to like many Boxers at all.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Who is this troll?
Anyway back to Khan etc
All prospects get hyped up, thats Boxing, thats business, nothing new there and I doubt very much it will ever change.
Some Boxers live up to the hype others don't.

he is nowhere near an A class fighter and your comment about Bungu/Medina/Kelly/ingle etc being A class doesn't warrent a reply.

Get in the real world man,
Have a look as some boxers from the 1920's, 30's,40's etc etc and then compare them to Naz! Hall of famers my hairy ass!
Watch Sanchez vs Gomez, compare it to any of Naz's fight and then mention hall of fame

Bungu........who the hell was Bungu any way. - Beat MkKinney before MAB - yes MkKinney was MABs biggest win to that point.
Not even a nearly man?
Every fight McCullough lost was to a world champion he never lost to any ordinary fighter. He is a former world champion himself and made 3 succesful defenses and only lost it on a split decision.
He gave Morales a very hard fight and went the distance with an undefeated Morales who at the time was on a streak of 9 straight stoppages
He went the distance with an undefeated Naseem who at the time was on a streak of 18 straight stoppages.
He battled Oscar Larios twice and in their first fight many argued that McCullough had won and was robbed and that was well after his fight with Naseem where people claim he was "shot"
There are hundreds of fighters in Europe who can only dream of achieving even a slither of what McCullough did. McCullough is what fighters should be, fighters today are over protected but McCullough regularly stepped up to test himself against some of the worlds best p4p fighters of the time and if McCullough was packing more power with that chin and work rate he would be getting talked about along with the Hall of Famers of the world.
