Danny Garcia must defend against Amir Khan by June to keep his WBC Belt!

Post by psychod1986 »

According to the World Boxing Council,Garcia has to June to defend his WBC Title because Khan is the 1 number mandatory challenger for the WBC Belt.If Garcia refuses to fight Khan by June he will be stripped. Image

I predict Khan will fight a light hitting bum in March or April, and continue to duck Brook. Brook and Garcia will fight each other this summer. If it is a unification bout, WBC won't strip.

Good news.

I'm dying to see Khan fight again: I'm fed up of him talking.

He must be chomping at the bit to get revenge over Garcia, so this will be the perfect opportunity.

Brook's big summer fight will be in England as his promoter needs him for PPV dates, will Garcia fight in England? I don't think so but I would pay to see that fight.

As for Khan his options for March are bare, I expect him to go for a LWW like Cuenca or Herrera.

I've got a horrible feeling that the Khan-Brook saga will drag and drag until a summer showdown in 2017.

Can't see Khan facing Garcia without a warm-up.

This fight if it was to happen would more than likely be end of the year. Can't see Khan fighting more than twice this year.

I"d definitely like to see Garcia step it up in terms of opposition now. Aside from Lamont, he's been fighting cupcakes since the Matthysse fight. Guerrero's name looks good on paper but I had him losing 4 our of his last 5 fights after that putrid decision vs. Aaron Martinez. He's all done.

My guess is that Garcia doesn't care about defending and keeping the belt too much. If it means taking a tough fight to keep it then I can see him vacating to keep on fighting these cupcakes for another year or two.

I'm hoping that the Thurman/Porter fight starts the round robin type infighting within the weight class that we need. Everyone is ready for it and it's been long enough. Brook, Pacman, Khan, Bradley, Thurman, Porter, Garcia and Spence Jr in random order. We've already got 4 of the top 8 facing each other this year so we are halfway there. Brook and Khan can be next then we will finally have something that we CAN'T bitch about.

Provided Thurman gets past Porter, Garcia/Thurman is one of the best fights the sport can make, at the moment.

Why do they have him fighting this Pug again? I'm hoping that DG puts him out of the sport for good now, there are far better fights for him out there. Why not place him against Thurman or Kell Brook or even Broner at this point??

I don't want to see Khan, all he does is run like Usain Bolt.

I think Khan/brook happens instead of this. If amir is risking a loss, he'll take the bigger check.

Come on, watching Khan get spaghetti legs and wide eyed after a big shot to his china chin never gets old. Do you think he could handle of those bombs that DG landed on Guerrero this weekend? As much as I can't stand Khan, I love to watch his fights. You're always one punch away from seeing something funny with him. I'd love to see them fight again.

Not while he is asking for 80% plus of the purse it won't, Brook is apparently seething at having to give him 60% and I don't blame him either, I like Khan, always in good fights but he think he's up there with FM and PAC and he just isn't.

No way in hell he stands up to this bigger version of DG (who seems to be punching harder and more accurately), but yeah I get you, I'd love to see Khan getting rubber-legged as he gets chin-checked.

Garcia v Khan will happen if Khan wants it too. Khan's ideal fight would be against Brook but they are a long way away on the money. A likely scenario is Khan takes some step aside to allow Garcia to fight ano. Khan was rated 1 and Garcia I think 2 when the announced the WBC 147 vacancy between Garcia and 6 ranked Guerrero, but there were clauses.

Brook's getting a good deal if he gets 40%.

I am sure Garcia would much rather face Khan again than
Brook in my opinion. I am not sure a unification is what he needs right now, he needs to grow into the division based on his latest outing. Khan is perfect for him as he knows he can take him again.

 I think Khan has ducked Garcia twice since their first fight.

Khan is shitting himself because he's backed into Brook or Garcia.

the way these mandatories work is the fighter's have to negotiate and if they can't
agree then a purse bid is ordered.
http://wbcboxing.com/downloads/WBCRules ... ec2011.pdf
The net purse offer (after deduction of all sanction fees payable to the WBC hereunder) shall be divided as follows:
(a) 70% for the champion and 30% for the challenger in title bouts

wbc can modify the mandatory split but i doubt they would for this one.
if khan refuses his mandatory status after purse bids, his status is cancelled and
his careful positioning with the wbc becomes moot and he's just another joe in
the division who nobody has to fight. for garcia, the risk/reward vs khan might
be worth haymon offering khan more than the 30% split just to see if he will take
the bait, but not much more than that.

What world have you been living in? Show me proof of Khan ducking Garcia, I can show you how many times Garcia and his dad have said they wont fight Khan, if they think its an easy fight then why not take the fight as its easy money..
http://www.BS.com/angel-garcia ... an--100638 As it says in the article Khan has been trying to get him in the ring since the defeat. Garcia now says they will unify instead of fighting Khan, if they fight another world champion then fair enough but if they drop the belt and take an easy fight then its a duck plain and simple.

maybe khan should work on revenge rematches with brandeis prescott or lamont peterson
before getting back in with garcia.

Khan's career is hanging on by a thread, and has for sometime now. There is no point to a rematch between Khan and Garcia. It couldn't have been much more decisive, and should have been stopped in the 3rd round. How he gets to #1 ranking after going life and death with a light welter with very limited experience is beyond me. Just proves ABC's are a joke with most of the rankings. Khan has not had a significant win in 5 years.

How did Garcia get a title fight after only 1 fight at the weight? It took him 9 rounds to beat a washed up Paulie even though he hadn't fought for over a year since Porter annihilated him, he looked dogshite but walked into a title fight.

Who do you want him to fight next?

I'm a big fan of both.

Garcia showed great poise last weekend. I was very impressed.

Khan was bossing the fight against Garcia until BOOM - but whether that was Garcia's plan or Khan getting careless we don't know.

I'd love to see a rematch but Khan has messed up his prime years by chasing Mayweather & Pacquiao instead of just fighting.

His six fights - up to & including Peterson - were over 24 months.

His six fights since then have been spread over 50 months. And he has nothing scheduled.

I have a lot of respect for the man - especially him talking out against radical Islam - but he's done himself a dis-service in these last few years of his career.
