 Corey 'T-Rex' Sanders - that must have been a disappointment.
He got me a few times.

I remember reading the Sanders-Golota fight getting made in the late 90s. Got really excited bout it for some strange reason. Even told people that it could be a couple of really good brawlers going at it.

Nearly cried at 3am when T-Rex walked in. Pretty sure it was a 10 round snoozefest aswell.

What about Billy Bird, who had something like 359 fights back during WWII era.

There's now a Middleweight with the same name who's had 13 fights. F*cking slacker :OhYes:

My brother pat Doherty fought John Doherty for the British super feather weight title and johns first name was pat as well but he used john so there wasn't 2 pat Doherty's.
Your brother was Pat Doherty? Wow... I remember him... Exciting fighter. Was part of that weird super feather British title jinx in the 80s where everyone seemed to lose the title in an upset in their first defence...
Yeah he'd struggle to make cruiserweight now little fat git :OhYes: He was always in good fights even if I say so myself

Yeah true an example was Michael Ayres (I think?) had to change so picked Gomez.
I loved shaka a good no nonsense fighter,I met him at a gym in Streatham when he was on the way up and I was about 18/19 a nice guy as well
Met him a few times through mutual friends. Nice fella. Do you know what he's doing now? I think I see him driving a white van about the other day. Did you meet him at the gym at the back of the pub? Park Tavern, was it? Think the gym might have been called 'Charlies' or something.

Has there ever been a case of 2 guys with the same name (or used to have the same name but one changed, or someone who had another name but mimicked a famous boxer) sharing a ring?

George Foreman named all his 5 sons George, at least one of them had a few pro fights.

Also Henry Coopers twin brother was called George, but boxed under the name Jim Cooper as there was already a George

So if you're not allowed to be the same name as an active current boxer, what happens when they retire? Can you actually revert back to your birth name?

Jimmy Kelly added Kilrain to his name because the board said his real name was to similar too Castleford/Leeds light heavy Jamie Kelly.

Luke Blackledge is really called Luke Robinson, but uses his mum's maiden name because there was already a boxer called Luke Robinson when he turned over.
