Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
Also this fight is at 147 which i think the jump up suits khan more than garcia, just my opinion. Garcia cant keep churning out average performances and still be an elite level fighter,he beat paulie and garcia but these guys arnt big welters were as khan has beat a big WW in collazo. This fight will still be interesting

Same applies to Khan. Average sums up his in-ring career since losing to Garcia.thechump wrote:Also this fight is at 147 which i think the jump up suits khan more than garcia, just my opinion. Seven of Khan's last eight opponents have been former or current world champions. Compare that to someone like Golovkinfreddydoesdallas wrote:Same applies to Khan. That is a brilliant stat but a closer look tells a slightly different story:gobbles wrote:Seven of Khan's last eight opponents have been former or current world champions. Judah - last defended a title in 05
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
Not sure Khan was boxing his ears off per se. To me it seemed more of a case of Garcia not being able to cope with Khan's speed for those first 3/4 rounds. Khan was still boxing pretty reckless and getting caught. To me, boxing someone's ears off is when you're hitting them but they're not really hitting you. The modern Khan boxes in a more intelligent manner i'd say.littlepug wrote:annihilated a bit misleading, khan was boxing his ears off before he got overeager and walked into that counter left hook, even at the end khan looked like he could of carried on, im no khan fan by the way but if he has learnt from that defeat he beats garcia who looks more average every time i see himTuan_Jim wrote:It's an easy sell. Kahn has been running his mouth for years about how Mayweather and Pacman, two modern greats, are petrified of him.
Let's see how terrifying and unbeatable this new Khan is versus a man who previously annihilated him.
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
For me, Garcia is the lighter weight equivalent of Carl Froch. A guy that is slow, particularly in terms of foot speed and doesnt have the best technique and balance but has a very good chin, can punch a bit and is a more intelligent boxer than people give him credit for and just generally knows how to win fights against guys that seem more naturally talented even if he doesnt look amazing in the process.ThereByTheGrace wrote:Khan never thinks that's his problem he thinks he can fight anyone. But has has boxed to a plan more with hunter. Still would pick Garcia to win even though hes not brilliant either maybe points garcia
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
Garcia to win again, he's got Khan's number. Knows he can sucker him in and rock him at some point in the fight, even if Khan is winning 6-0 that won't change.
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
I agree with previous posts, Khan could be 3, 4 or 10 rounds up on the cards but when Garcia lands and he will land....... Its game over for Amir.
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
It is very easy. Khan absolutely outclassed Garcia until he got caught. He is, in reality, a much better fighter than Garcia is. If he boxes smart then he wins in my opinion.
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
He'll get a belt and a big chunk in a unification bout with Brook, Kell hasn't faced anyone at Khan or Garcia's level.Nightmare Roy wrote:Khan is a fool, he's gonna go overseas to fight a guy who knocked him out all ready for a third of the money he would get for fighting Kell at home.
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
I think people often exaggerate the discrepancy between Khan and Garcia. It's true that Khan dominated the first two rounds, but in the third Garcia started timing him more successfully and in my opinion was very much in the round prior to the KD---which I see as the product of a well-timed shot that Garcia would have a good chance of landing again. With Khan it's also hard for me to be confident that he'll simply box to orders and get through a fight without eventually being caught by something serious, and even in his last fight he was rocked by light-punching Algeiri.Batley18 wrote:It is very easy. Timing will nearly always beat speed.
Garcia has gone from overly thought of to hard done by since the first fight. He has definitely been the beneficiary of some suspect decisions in his career of late (Herrera & Peterson) but that is nothing new as arguably Theoplane beat him before facing Khan.
His record is pretty solid overall, and he is definitely a player in the division as i dont think anyone else apart from maybe Brook offers the combination of timing and power he does.
Khan can also win this by slowing his feet down, planting them a bit more and playing a bit more cautiously like he did against Collazo, but it likely won't win him many fans when comparing against some of his prior high profile bouts.
65-35 that Garcia will win, but would be ecstatic if Amir can pull it off.
To answer the headline question, Khan and Angel Garcia could sell this one in 20 years time still, let alone now.

porter would beat garcia..........khan wouldnt fight porter...........palooka wrote:

Not a very good argument - porter drew with Diaz who Khan beat relatively easily.los2 wrote:porter would beat garcia..........khan wouldnt fight porter...........palooka wrote:

Plus there's nothing to suggest porter could take 2 weight undefeated world champion Garcia.

I think Gacia will win again to be honest. He must have one of the best CV's in boxing for the past few years.palooka wrote:He'll get a belt and a big chunk in a unification bout with Brook, Kell hasn't faced anyone at Khan or Garcia's level.Nightmare Roy wrote:Khan is a fool, he's gonna go overseas to fight a guy who knocked him out all ready for a third of the money he would get for fighting Kell at home.

Porter was very lucky to get a draw in his first fight with Julio Diaz. He also couldn't stop Lo Greco, who was annihilated by Spence, when Hearn is going around comparing him to Mike Tyson
When did Khan refuse to fight Porter?

He did beat him soundly in the rematch and Diaz also dropped Khan so not such an easy winFinn wrote:Not a very good argument - porter drew with Diaz who Khan beat relatively easily.los2 wrote:porter would beat garcia..........khan wouldnt fight porter...........palooka wrote:

Quality fight, I'm looking forward to it, Khan is never in a bad fight.
Re: Garcia v Khan ordered by WBC how do you sell?
As much as i dislike khan...its an easy sell...khan was outbixing garcia early like no one else has until his weak chin and run in style got him into disaster.gazza8 wrote:so the WBC has ordered Garcia to fight his mandatory Khan by June....how does a promoter sell this fight...Garcia blew Khan away the last fight flooring himin the 3rd and conclusively stopping him in the 4th
Khan has learned to be more cagey now.
This is the fight that will define his career or end it

Well saidLarrylefthook wrote:So because a guy got knocked out he cant win a rematch 4 years later, stupid and this is why boxers take the easy route to protect there 0 so you guys don't write them off after a loss.
They'll sell it alright. As Syntax says above, Garcia could probably sell it on his own. It doesn't follow for me that because Khan got "blown away" he automatically loses this one.
I seem to remember watching a stink job last year where Garcia somehow managed to get a win over Lamont Peterson despite getting his head boxed off for most of it and losing the stretch convincingly.
It's also a great opportunity for Khan. He's been placed in a tricky situation really that has not been entirely of his own making. Namely he's boxed at the Mayweather weight in the Mayweather era and been in contention. Also the Pacman weight in the Pacman era. Who would not hope to box either and make a fortune?
Considering Khan is as brave as a lion, is no stranger to taking a beating I see no reason to tip-toe around. Brook, Garcia, Thurman.... he should take whatever fight he can get that will lead to matches for the belts.
I for one will miss Khan when he hangs them up, I've enjoyed following him both on the tele and "semi-ringside".
