Not ranked by any sanctioning body though.

Briggs, Takam, Fedesov are all the best ranked beatable opponents. Still wondering if somebody like Andy Ruiz jr might be ready for a cashout on his record.

Carlos Takam.....purely due to his high ranking with wbc and ibf.

He's fighting Carlos Takam in an IBF eliminator. Takam is ranked by three of the four governing bodies. When Haye wins he's right back in the title picture.

Surely Haye can't fight in an eliminator if he's not ranked? Or did the IBF sneak him in there after the De Mori fight?

Haye is ranked by the IBF and everybody above him apart from Takam is unavailable or has lost since.

Still none the wiser after that. They really let him off the hook there, not really pressing about the opponent. The speculation is irritating for me but I do think it'll actually be somebody decent. The heavyweight division is full of characters at the moment. It's like Streetfighter 2.

I hope not. It will be the exact copy of Audley Harisson fight. Malik diving after the very first haymaker. Haye doesn't need another stinker.

Maybe Eddie Chambers. He is game for a fight as I said on another thread.

Was just thinking that myself. It can't be another cabbage like DeMori if he harbours any ambition of getting a crack at a title. I'd love Povetkin to beat Wilder and then him n Haye to get it on later in the year. Always wanted them to fight. In the meantime someone like Wach, Boystov, Tomas Adamek, big tits Arreola, Stiverne or even Charr would suffice.

I've heard many casuals ooh & ah over De Mori recently, going "Well, he mullered a top ten bloke..."

This is the depth of knowledge that the casuals are suffering under.

& also, Joshua has fought, what, another novice (who again, had fought exactly no-one of note & proved exactly fvck-all) & is getting a title shot.

Against Martin, a dude who--until he fought Glazkov (a guy who, despite being the most underwhelming Eastern European/Eurasian heavy since Alexander Zolkin retired, had at least fought a fair few retreads/fringe contenders) had also fought absolutely no-one. Look at Martin's record. Who the cvnting fvck did he beat to get his top ten ranking? Zumbano Love got beat up by that fat Mexican dude who went out in one round to Arreola, who got fed to Wilder in an unjustified title shot, so that justifies Martin's ranking?!!?!? Was it Tom "Southern Area" Dallas that qualifies Martin as top ten material?

People are excited by the heavies but fvck me the proven depth is about as shallow as my gene pool. Not having a go at you bruv, the Haye fight was a ridiculous charade since the second it got signed, but nearly everyone in the division indulges in identical farces or gets a top ten ranking off a few knockovers in fights where they're 10-1 favorite.

The whole division is becoming Deontay Wilderised.

PS: I acknowledge that Haye could probably do with some seasoning/testing/yardstick fights. But he's very, very, very rarely in his career indulged in any of those if he could help it, & at 35 1/2 he's not really got time to build up a string of steadily increasing tests when he could get injured or (stranger things have happened) chinned in one of them & he can walk into a title fight anyway..

I couldn't get excited for the DeMori fight mate. A massacre of a main and instead of an undercard you had some two bit DJ/Cd changer! It was embarrassing. I think Haye has to fight someone that the hardcore fraternity can get excited about and make a statement. Who will he fight though? Hopefully not another DeMori. I think the division is slowly getting its excitement back because Fury beating Wlad has blown the division wide open but in terms of talent it's not exactly overflowing. That being said there are some talented guys and some good fights there to be made.

agreed it is and if any of the top fighters had confidence in their own abilities they would clean up the division just like the olden days .Trouble is are any of them good enough to dominate ?

Haye wont have any tune ups. He just wants a title shot and a massive payday. If he gets both and loses he will retire again. If he wins, he'll defend until he loses and retire again.

Agreed. Haye is long past caring about his 'legacy'; I doubt he even knows what his win/loss record is anymore. He's now in it for filthy lucre only, as much as he can get in as short a time as possible, nothing more.

Who do you reckon he'll go after? There's been talk of AJ for a while and the two seem to share a mutual respect but I wouldn't let AJ anywhere near Haye for another year at least. Fury seems a no go (and rightly so) and that leaves Wilder. I know Haye has sparred him a few times and would fancy the job, but would Wilder? If Povetkin manages to topple Wilder I'd love to see him and Haye get it on later in the year perhaps. His backers would give Haye the payday he's looking for and then some....

Did Dallas ever even win the southern area title?
