Who would win between the two Bantamweight greats between Carlos Zarate vs. Jeff Chandler if the fight took place in their prime?

Chandler would seem like the kind of fighter who would give Zarate a rough time because Carlos wasn't the quickest fighter ever but Z hit so effing hard I'd have to give the edge to him. Not a whole lot of bantamweights (Jofre would be one) I'd rank ahead of him in his prime

Tough fight for the great Carlos Zarate. In this fight, he is fighting one of the most underrated crafty technicians in the bantamweight history like Jeff Chandler, who was also very rough fighting inside. I do not think that Joltin Jeff will be in any exchanges. He will be moving from side to side and use his speed. He could do it for a long period of time. But I think Zarate's power would catch him at some point in the fight. Zarate had some educated hands. Great combinations to the belly and head. Watch the fight with Alfonso Zamora. His textbook combination punching was a beauty. And he was tough.

I agree completely.

I could see Chandler outboxing Zarate for 5 or 6 rounds of a 15 rounder, much like Italian/Aussie Paul Ferreri did.

But the patient Zarate would eventually begin cutting the ring off and begin catching up to Chandler, switching effortlessly from head to body.

By the 9th round , Chandler wouldn't be outboxing Zarate but simply moving to survive.

The "Z Boy" finally caves in Joltin' Jeff with a patented hook to the body somewhere around the 12th round.
