Good fight. More importantly though, it looks like the WBA are finally beginning to sort their act out.

The more of these Regular Vs Super bouts the better.

Should be a good fight, money on McDonnell - he seems to get better every fight.

How about a WWE style triple threat...Payano (Super Champ) v McDonnell (Regular Champ) v Zhakiyanov (Interim Champ). Joking apart, I agree with Batley.

However, a couple of questions; if McDonnell wins will the WBA produce another regular champ? If Payano wins, does McDonnell lose his regular title...if so,repeat the first question.
According to the article, the WBA want to reduce the number of titlists. I really do hope this is the case.

No, he is world class.

Why do you keep slagging him off?

Do you mean British fighter of the year or World?

I thought he lost the second fight to Kameda to be honest, don't remember the first, think I might have turned it off in anger after they robbed Burns.

If the WBA really want to reduce theyre silly belts its easy make it mandatory for their super champion to face their regular at ever weight. If any fighter pulls out strip them and make the other simple champion. Then scrap the regular belts. Scrap the interim belts straight away but if/where there's an interim champion mandate him to receive a title shot at the winner of the above contest within 6 months.

It'll clear it up once and for all and also force some really good fights to be made.

As for McDonnell to be fair I never rated him highly but he keeps proving me wrong he may only be a paper champion but he does actually deserve to recognised as a legitimate world champion

Making a complete guess, I'd say it would work that whoever wins just becomes the "Champ" and first mandatory would be the interim. During which the interim either wins the outright belt, or goes home empty handed? That's total guesswork on my part.

I actually had him world fighter of the year as I ranked his wins against 3 and 5 the best of any fighter.
I do understand that I'm hugely in the minority here.
Burns was trendous that night. Was a good little double header.

See i had the first fight very close, but I had him comfortably winning the 2nd fight. He never looked in danger and put kameda in his shell. The speed everyone talked up about kameda just wasnt there.

I had the first a draw and the second to McDonnell by one.

Both were very close.

I think you vastly overrated Kameda if you had McDonnell world fighter of the year for those two wins....not a chance IMO when Floyd beat Manny and Fury beat Wlad. I'd also say that stoppages of Murray, Lemieux, and Monroe > Kameda x 2 (and of course the first was very close and McD got dropped on his ass).

This is a good fight though and a win would be a nice addition to McDonnell's already strong resume. Some thought Payano got a gift against Warren but I thought the decision was fair.

I find it hard to give it Floyd and Tyson because they only had one win against top 10 opposition.

Mcdonnell had two granted they were the same person.

Fury and Floyd easily had the best wins of the year but I find to give someone best fighter on one win.

I had Ioka, Jack, Abraham, Golovkin and Gonzalez all having 2 top 10 wins.

Fury and Mayweather won clearly and without scare or dispute the first time around, against opponents far better than Kameda. I don't really see why they should be penalized for not beating the same opponent again. Would you rate McDonnell's year less favorably if he dominated and KTFO'd Kameda in the first bout and only fought once during the year?

Ioka, Jack, Abraham and McDonnell all had at least one very close fight last year, which they could have easily lost.

I had all of them losing or drawing one of last year's fights on my scorecard.

I think your system is flawed.

Payano got the title gift wrapped from Moreno did he not?

I had Kameda winning the first I think by a point, but he CLEARLY lost the second.

Technical decision think one got cut after round 6 very scrappy fight but the footage I saw wasn't very good sure it wasn't on TV.

His last fight v Warren was quite decent actually problem is Hearn just said they were re matching and Jamie is fighting April 9th probably against a nobody now but will do this fight in the summer
