Why did he pick Fitzpatrick in the first place?

If Fitzpatrick did a bad job then it is still Groves' fault for picking him as a trainer.

Paddy worked with Adam Booth when he trained George, and you can see him walking alongside GG on his way to the ring in the Degale fight.

I thought that Groves and Haye were friends, but this interview implies that they are not close e.g. there is no animosity between us, which is very different from saying ' we get on really well".

I assume their friendship just drifted apart over time after Groves left Adam Booth.
I imagine they were pretty close when they were both with Booth and Groves style was more similar to David's.
He used to write the blog on Hayes website in the build up to fights.

I like Haye and Groves. They are both bright sparks with similar fighting styles, hopefully they can spark off eachother again.

I just think Groves needs to forget about old trainers and concentrate on the task in hand. He has a lot of talent -there is no shame in losing to Froch, who is a great champion (in my view), and there was no disgrace in losing a split decision in Vegas to Badou Jack. Jack was much, much better that I thought he would be and looked a quality operator.

Only took him five fights (3 of which were world title shots) to realise Paddy wasn't up to the job then?
