50 year old Big Bob Mirovic in ring return

I really hope someone is taking the piss here. But Big Bob Mirovic, who will turn 50 prior to the event, is listed to fight a 6 rounder on February 27th in Boondall, Queensland.

Big Bob made his pro debut way back in May 1987, nearly 30 years ago, and prior to most of our pro boxers having been born.

Bob has been involved in some absolute wars along the way against the likes of a veritable whos who of Australian and international boxing, winning national and international belts along the way.

This February 27th fight isn't in anyone's best interests and shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Big Bob, about to crack the big "five o", must be bonkers to consider getting into the ring again, after a five year absence, where he last fought mediocre opposition for two wins.

Previous to that he fought Alex Leapai was was bombed out in a round. Before Alex, he fought a brace of fights against John Hopoate, being stopped in one fight and then losing badly on points in the other, where he put on the worst display of clinching, wrestling and holding to stay the distance in what was an awful fight.

If the officials dont put a lid on this (but remember we are talking Queensland here), Bob, please give this idea of stepping back into the ring away pronto, for your health's sake!

That danny williams -bob mivrovic fight showed bob was world class level.i was in that crowd that fight.bob was so big and intimidating he was crowding danny and i thought this is gonna be a huge upset .than williams,who was seriously talented if lacking confidence and conditioning put on an incredible flurry of punches to suddenly end it.

Great guy bob i reckon even at 50 he"ll beat a few blokes and do well

Sorry i was a little late with a reply mate, had a bloody croc running around on the farm.i had to fire a few rounds get the bloke to rack off....fair go youve got a good point

But the aussie hw scene has always been different.real classy older technicians like aussie joe bugner beating blokes at 48 -50 told me a lot about what kinda fighter he must have been in the 70s.

Bobs obviously a totally different and limited brawler but big tough and ill be stuffed if the two can be compared even the older version of joe.....but theres something about bob....i dunno ....hes got a presence...and i could see him putting away a couple a younger mongrels....aussie heavyweights have always been tough.

I cornered Hunter Sam when he fought at The Melbourne Pavillion down here about 14 months ago, I think it wouldn't end well for Big Bob at this stage of the game.

Bob has had a lot of fights. You can't just throw him in with a novice. Hunter is a good fighter. If he is talking about winning Australian title again, he would have to beat someone like Hunter.

That was actually the same date, I was looking after Heath Ellis while part of the team was in the states looking after Sam.
