BTW Audie Murphy must have played a strictly defensive minded boxer in this movie,because I have seen a lot of Audie Murphy movies
in my lifetime and he could really fight in his Westerns.
He threw big and fast Haymakers in them thrown from the hip and shoulder and got down n dirty
like his fight scene at the end of RIDE CLEAR OF DIABLO (1954).
I think if Audie Murphy was alive today he would make a terrific MMA fighter.
(if he was about 28 years old anyway).

Just kidding of course. Yeah, I liked Audie Murphy. I once saw a movie called, "No name on the bullet." A good Audie Murphy flick.

I always laugh when in the bar room scene when he asks "Wheres the coffee ?"

It was funny. A known gunslinger was in town, so half the town thought that he was there to kill themselves. Of course, almost all of them were wrong. That was in "No name on the bullet."

The other movies I am not sure if I have seen yet, but they are probably good. Murphy was usually in good ones.

Have you ever seen the episode of THE TWILIGHT ZONE
were he was a WWII veteran and his neighbour was the dude who played
Lt. Sulu on STAR TREK?
man, it was weird.
it had aired only once on netwrk tv and caused so much of a controversery
it was never shown again even in the syndication of the show for decades later.
The episode was finally released in the BEST OF THE TWILIGHT ZONE EPISODES.

Do you mean the 1963 movie "Showdown" with Audie Murphy? Didn't see that one, but it has a good cast with Kathleen Crowley, Skip Homeier, Harold Stone, L.Q. Jones, and Strother Martin. Maybe I will see it on TCM sometime.

I saw that movie more than once, but it has been awhile. What I remember most is character actor Whit Bissell trying to get up the nerve to shoot Murphy from inside a building because he was sure that Audie was coming after him. Typical role for Bissell.

Whit Bissell must have been in more movies than anyone I can think of. He did a lot of TV work as well.

Another character actor that was in many movies and did a lot of TV work was Elisha Cook Jr., probably most famous as the gunsel in "The Maltese Falcon." Funny line near the end of the film is when his boss, Sydney Greenstreet, decides to turn him over and says, "Wilmer, you are like a son to me, but when you lose a son, you can get another. There is only one Maltese Falcon."

Cook usually played kind of a loser type like in "Shane," and "The Killing," with Sterling Hayden and Marie Windsor, and "The Big Sleep," with Humphrey Bogart. All three good movies.

Art Aragon was a story in itself. Here a a rather humorous incident. Aragon, known as the "Golden Boy" during the 1950's, was being sued in a paternity suit. His lawyer was summing up and said, "Your honor, there is no way my client could have made that woman pregnant." Aragon then said, "I object to that."

sure looks like it may be At Aragon to me.
In the same movie Audie Murphy fights for the welterweight championship against Chico Vejar.
also in the film were Freddy Herman,Baby Ike and Frank Muche.
and for atmosphere real life referees Major Jimmy Wilson,Mushy Callahan,Frankie Van and Bud Winters were in it.
