Tyson Fury should fight and not care about the belts so much. He said himself that he did not care about the belts at all and he should stick to that line of thinking. He is probably right about this though as America has backed its' way into phony belt holders without beating anyone of note. The truth is that outside of Rahman's win over Lewis is the late 90's the HW title has been in Europe since the late 90's. Almost 20 years now and America has been able to do nothing about it so people in America just say that the HW division is dead because America produces little to nothing in the division. I think he is right the IBF would like to gift a title to an inner city fighter in America because they cannot beat the Euro's and won't fight them straight up.

A lot of the above is obviously correct. THE Champion is Tyson Fury. After that comes Wlad and Povetkin.

On the other side of the coin, Wilder has KOd Spilka and Dauphas who were top 10-15 European HWs. Wilder and Martin went 2 for 2, Glaskov's knee injury notwithstanding. I do agree with virtually everybody that Wilder needs to get his butt in the ring with Povetkin to help clear all this up.

Regarding "America saying the HW division is dead," I think you're painting with an overly broad brush. Some people in Europe say that too, and not everyone here believes the division is dead, I don't. Even in the 1970s some people called the division dead. Certainly the US doesn't dominate HW boxing like it did "back in the day," but there are still a lot of US HWs sprinkled in the top 10, top 25 worldwide. Regarding competition, the more the merrier.

That was well written by you. I just think that on the networks and overall interest in HW boxing faded right about the time of the European takeover.
I see it the same way as in tennis. Tennis is as good as ever if not better than ever. However, since American tennis is a joke now Americans do not care about tennis as much. I agree with Fury that if he were an American he would still have that belt and his his craziness and trash-talking would look and be really cool. Instead Lampley refers to him as a boring weirdo. I like the HW division but these guys have to fight one another and once again it is a North American who refuses to do the fighting. It is a broken record in boxing over and over.

Boxing in the US has faded and there are a number of reasons for that. Football and UFC are on top of the list. We don't have an Ali or Sugar ray Leonard anymore or even an old Foreman making fun of himself. And of course the #1 reason may be the resurgence in Europe and the wall coming down etc. Fury has a lot more pop than Bugner, both in and out of the ring. Fury is saying a lot of controversial stuff, which, of course, sell tickets but also gets some people, not only Americans, quite upset with him. I don't really mind what he's doing because I think a lot of it is shtick, but when he wants to get Knighted or become a "Sir," or however that goes over there, he'll have to answer about women on the backs and gays waking up the devil and other such brilliant observations. :KO:

On the basis of conspiracy, everyone can say everything like Fury said.....
