Obviously, it is more important to Duva and HBO to have the fight on HBO than it is to have
Adonis and Kovalev meet no matter what the setting. Folks act like Kovalev's exclusive contract
is a reason for Stevenson to fight on HBO, this when HBO let itself be outbid by Showtime for
a Stevenson fight in the first place.

HBO didn't want to pay Stevenson before which led directly to him signing with Haymon and now they
are still trying to dictate to Adonis when every indication is that Showtime and/or the PBC have deeper
pockets for the fight anyway.

So, if you are Stevenson, why would you take less money to fight on a network that has made it clear
already that they didn't think you were worth paying the last time?

i beg to differ, sir. hbo and duva are where the money is and where the fight gets made
and it's win-win for everyone. all the other stuff is just negotiating the terms downhill from there.
is stevenson obliged to fight on showtime or not? what is the exact reason he can't
fight on hbo?

From what i've been reading, Kovalev and Adonis have been negotiating for a couple of months and everything was locked and loaded until last week when Adonis, out of nowhere, demanded that Showtime co-host. This matter was the first hurdle that they two cleared in order to begin the unification talks so HBO and Duva were pissed that they waisted their time because the move by Adonis was CLEARLY his way of getting out of this fight.

I'm thinking that Adonis had this planned right from the start and wanted to shake up Kovalev's nerves right before his rematch with Pascal. Adonis never wanted this fight but they wanted to tie up Kovalev's focus in some capacity and shift it away from Pascal. Then to see Chickenson put on that pathetic WWE act in the ring Saturday Night solidifies how much of a joke this guy clearly is. I loved how HBO immediately took their cameras off Adonis and refused to play the game that Adonis wanted them to play. What kind of a dick takes the chicken road to avoid a fight and then bum rushes the guy he's afraid of in the ring pretending that people are holding him back. Did you see that? No one was even holding him...lol. He's such a punk.

Devil is in the details. Main Events confirmed what was said in this article too. What's the devil? "Guaranteed PPV Revenue." There is no such thing. I seriously doubt that Stevenson was getting the first two million from PPV before HBO and cable/satellite providers got their cut, which means he's getting his cut ahead of Kovalev's. The only way it is equivalent then is if Kovalev's money is also not guaranteed and based entirely on PPV revenue. Which, if not, isn't equitable.
