Not a fan of Northcutt yet to be honest. Too groomed, not a proper fighter yet. I'm sure with his athletic ability he'll be back in a big way but there'll be manier tough MFs thinking they'll have the beating of him if they can test his heart.
The Rumble fight was a disappointment. Bader's takedown attempt was desperate. Should have moved around a bit on the feet first. Didn't want to take punches from Rumble standing so ended up Getting KO'd on the mat.

Probably pretty terrifying for anyone to stand with Rumble for any amount of time. The dude is ferocious.danamba7 wrote:Not a fan of Northcutt yet to be honest. Too groomed, not a proper fighter yet. Re: MMA thread?
Problem with the LHW division is that there's too clear a hierarchy now:
1. Jones
2. Cormier
3. Rumble
4. Bader
There's a pretty huge gap between each of them. Makes for a pretty unexciting division.

Re: MMA thread?
Very true. But it was a poor TD attempt from a good wrestler. Mind you Rumble is too so just a better fighter all round.Impractical Poster wrote:Probably pretty terrifying for anyone to stand with Rumble for any amount of time. True whereas it used to be one of the most stacked 5-6 years ago.jujigatame wrote:Problem with the LHW division is that there's too clear a hierarchy now:

I wonder when Jones is coming back. Even with Jones the division is stale, without him it's even worse.

Gustaf is still an interesting fighter. Very close fights with 1 and 2 but obviously he got smashed by Rumble. Still I have him above Bader anyway.jujigatame wrote:Problem with the LHW division is that there's too clear a hierarchy now:

Bendo has official signed with Bellator. That awful Reebok deal strikes again.

Re: MMA thread?
Gustaffson is surely above Bader, even if he is 1-3 in his last 4. Was very unlucky not to get the decision against Jones, and a very narrow loss to Cormier. There was some rumors of him fighting Rashad Evans a while back, that'd be an interesting fight at this pointjujigatame wrote:Problem with the LHW division is that there's too clear a hierarchy now:

Its sad but true, it's been a test that needed to happen at some stage to see if a major brand could work well in a big organisation and unfortunately its going to damage the UFC while its in place.jujigatame wrote:Bendo has official signed with Bellator. That awful Reebok deal strikes again.
But the more it hits them the better it benefits the other organisations like Bellator, RIZIN, ONE championship, KSW, BAMMA, they get the names that get sick of the reebok deal so in a way its working for everyone else.

Its staggering when you think a few years ago the man was competing at welterweight, as soon as he let himself fight at a comfortable weight the man became a force to reckoned with.

This stinks. I hope this thing gets sorted out before more fighters jump ship. As a fan, I want all the top fighters under one roof.northern wrote:Its sad but true, it's been a test that needed to happen at some stage to see if a major brand could work well in a big organisation and unfortunately its going to damage the UFC while its in place.jujigatame wrote:Bendo has official signed with Bellator. Yeah. I'm glad he's up at this weight. He's a monster. And now that he's taking his wrestling seriously, he just may get that title. I still want to see Bones/Rumble.northern wrote:Impractical Poster wrote:Probably pretty terrifying for anyone to stand with Rumble for any amount of time. Hey I agree with you completely too, Bones vs. Rumble would be the must buy PPV for the year for me.Impractical Poster wrote:

I think Jones would edge it but there's always that question could Johnson stop jones via KO or dominate him as a wrestler
Re: MMA thread?
Have to admit I'm a fan of the big fights that could happen if they were all under one banner but at the same time I'm not a fan of business coming first, this Reebok deal interferes, the men at the top interfere and it ruins the sport because the big fights never happen.Impractical Poster wrote:This stinks. The fights I'm hoping for next in the UFC is McGregor vs. Edgar, Aldo vs. Sanchez at lightweight or Aldo vs. Swanson at featherweight, Nick Diaz vs. Matt Brown, Bisping vs. Rockhold (if Bisping can beat Silva), Jones vs Johnson, Gustaffson vs bader, Arlvoski vs rothwell
Re: MMA thread?
Good list but I'd take Bisping Rockhold out. I like Bisping but not sure he gets past Silva and if he does, I think Rockhold beats him comfortably again.northern wrote:Have to admit I'm a fan of the big fights that could happen if they were all under one banner but at the same time I'm not a fan of business coming first, this Reebok deal interferes, the men at the top interfere and it ruins the sport because the big fights never happen.Impractical Poster wrote:This stinks. I'd also add El Cucuy Vs Khabib.

I agree, that's the problem with boxing, too much completion, now usually that's a good thing, just Not in combat sports, boxing- too many weight classes, promotors and world titles, it just ruins everything.Impractical Poster wrote:This stinks. That being said, this reebok deal seems toxic, zuffa need to do something about it ASAP, before it does anymore damage.
How long does the deal last for does anyone know ?

Re: MMA thread?
Dana White has commented on the Bendo situation, saying the deal the UFC offered him was far superior on the condition that he won a title. Then of course he goes on to say Bendo is a great guy and he wishes him luck.
It's like he can't help himself from being a passive-aggressive tool. The guy is 32 years old, on the downside of his career but still borderline top 10 at 170 and borderline top 5 at 155. As good as he is, there's little chance of him winning a title again. But you make him sound like some sort of coward because he wants guaranteed money instead of a contract full of incentives he'll never make?

Henderson vs. Koreshkov signed for a Bellator card in April.
Good fight, I got Henderson by decision.

The fighters to watch in Bellator are Liam Mcgeary and Michael Page. I feel both of these guys would compete very well in the UFC. Page would be especially beneficial for Dana to sign.

Michael Page an ex semi contact points fighter, hands down style, fast as you like and flashy, would be great to see him in the UFC see how he handles the top grapplers?

Page is very exciting. A bit of a bum-crusher in his own right but that's forgivable considering he's only been in the sport a few years. His next opponent (Fernando Gonzalez) is a solid step up, too.
McGeary I'm not 100% sold on. It's good to see a guy who attacks so aggressively off his back, but his last 2 fights were not super impressive victories. I think Davis will absolutely dominate him.

Re: MMA thread?
You're right. Unfortunately, like most Brits at the moment, they may fall short at the highest level. I had high hopes for Manuwa, but he didn't even put up much of a fight against the top guys. Disappointing. Till and Page have potential but I still don't see a UFC champ from the UK. Shame because if it really blows up here, the UFC will have another Ireland.jujigatame wrote:Page is very exciting. I read a article today saying Roy Nelson has been fighting for 26k purses at times, and has only made around 900,000 in his entire career, I gotta say that's pretty fucked up.
