The Khan Can Thread
The Khan Can Thread
I'll be honest - a mate of mine messaged me Khan v Alvarez BEFORE I heard about the fight & I said Canelo too big.
Then I found out it is for real & I now think Khan wins.,
Stupid I know but stupid I am :P
I actually give him around a 20% chance.
But from now until May 7th IT'S fornicating WAR KHAN!!!!!!!

He possibly can, but almost certainly won't.

You said you think Khan wins but then went on to say you give him a 20% chance

Re: The Khan Can Thread
Alvarez is pretty good at cutting off the ring and I don't think Khan has the power to discourage him piling forward. That being said, if Alvarez boxes as tentatively as he did against Mayweather and Khan can concentrate and keep moving then it's not totally unthinkable that he could scrape a decision but it's all ifs and buts. I said in a previous post I personally think it's career suicide and I'll be surprised if Khan boxes on after this fight. He seemed to be looking for the big pay out and he's certainly got the next best thing here after Floyd and Manny.
If I had to place a bet it would be an Alvarez KO all day but stranger things have happened. Hopefully if Alvarez does win then his mates at the WBC make him fight GGG.

Re: The Khan Can Thread
Surely even Khan's biggest critics have got to be rooting for him in this one,i wont be giving Alvarez any props here
Re: The Khan Can Thread
I can definitely see how, with the right gameplan, Khan could outbox Canelo.
But don't think I will be risking any money on him.

Re: The Khan Can Thread
Alvarez is way too big, I'd love to be proved wrong but everything Khan throws is going to bounce off the ginger beast and at some point Khan is going to get caught and when he does he's done.
One thing we can say though is that he's not scared of Kell Brook.

Re: The Khan Can Thread
I think he has a chance, as some others have said Alverez is probably the worst "superstar" fighter for a long time. That said he's still one hell of a fighter. The bookies don't give Khan much of a chance though and they don't often get it wrong. It's win win for Khan though, if he beats him he'll become the biggest name in boxing, if he loses it will be expected.

If he pulled it off he should be knighted.
Showing great cojones to take this fight.
Really hope he pulls it off but highly unlikely.

I'm going for Khan for two reasons...
1) I love an underdog
2) We should always back our own

Re: The Khan Can Thread
he's only 1cm taller than Khan and Khan has a better reach advantage. Yes he's weighed more on the scales/in fights but maybe Khan has grown in to the weight whilst he has been out.banjo wrote:Alvarez is way too big, I'd love to be proved wrong but everything Khan throws is going to bounce off the ginger beast and at some point Khan is going to get caught and when he does he's done.

Alvarez will already be 4 rounds up on the cards.

Exactly. That's what being a sports fan is all about. Believing when logic says otherwise.jessi wrote:Taansend

this .....i could see khan winning 4 of the first 6 rounds as canelo is bit of a slow burner but it seems nearly impossible to get a points win over canelo ,i thought lara beat him and he mayweather only got a SD i think . saul points is 4-1 i'll put a tenner on it
Re: The Khan Can Thread
plenty of welterweights have developed into fully fledged middles, look at that thobela fella he started at lightweight (winning world title) and ended up at supermiddle (also picking up a world title), and most were smaller than khan is, for all we know it might do khan the the world of good and give him a bit more strength while hopefully not taking away his speed, khan could be the future of the middleweight division !!!
Re: The Khan Can Thread
i wonder if khan will do a holyfield style transformation putting an extra 8 pounds of muscle i don't think he has the time in 3 months plus once he does that their will be no going back to welter with out it effecting his body in a drastic waylittlepug wrote:plenty of welterweights have developed into fully fledged middles, look at that thobela fella he started at lightweight (winning world title) and ended up at supermiddle (also picking up a world title), and most were smaller than khan is, for all we know it might do khan the the world of good and give him a bit more strength while hopefully not taking away his speed, khan could be the future of the middleweight division !!!

if khan did pull it off mayweather would be straight on the phone

not a fan of boxers dropping down, think he would be best off staying at middle and trying to fill out naturalystevedoc wrote:i wonder if khan will do a holyfield style transformation putting an extra 8 pounds of muscle i don't think he has the time in 3 months plus once he does that their will be no going back to welter with out it effecting his body in a drastic waylittlepug wrote:plenty of welterweights have developed into fully fledged middles, look at that thobela fella he started at lightweight (winning world title) and ended up at supermiddle (also picking up a world title), and most were smaller than khan is, for all we know it might do khan the the world of good and give him a bit more strength while hopefully not taking away his speed, khan could be the future of the middleweight division !!!
Re: The Khan Can Thread
bits of me thinks canelo isn't really a ko artist and he's not that fast khan has a chance then i think of khan being pushed around by algeri and petterson and think he's gonna get walked down and chinned ...

the trouble with that is golovkin is there and that just seems a scary fight for a X lightweightlittlepug wrote:not a fan of boxers dropping down, think he would be best off staying at middle and trying to fill out naturalystevedoc wrote:i wonder if khan will do a holyfield style transformation putting an extra 8 pounds of muscle i don't think he has the time in 3 months plus once he does that their will be no going back to welter with out it effecting his body in a drastic waylittlepug wrote:plenty of welterweights have developed into fully fledged middles, look at that thobela fella he started at lightweight (winning world title) and ended up at supermiddle (also picking up a world title), and most were smaller than khan is, for all we know it might do khan the the world of good and give him a bit more strength while hopefully not taking away his speed, khan could be the future of the middleweight division !!!

Anyone thinking of going?
Just been told of possible redundancy today so really tempted to book it before the missus finds out.
