This week's nominations:

forestbox - Bob Foster v Chris Finnegan (1972)
Counter-puncher - John Conteh vs Chris Finnegan I (1973)
davie - Jim Watt vs Alexis Arguello (1981)

Of this week's nominations I've gone for Jim Watt vs Alexis Arguello, due to it being in the early 80s rather than the early 70s like the other two.

Both of the other nominations are fights that I'd like to see at some point this year and I think one of those would be a good fight to select in the next couple of weeks.

What are people's nominations for week 5?

I'd prefer a late 70s fight to keep the slowly moving back into the past thing going.

My nominations are:

John H. Stracey vs Jose Napoles (1975)
Maurice Hope vs Rocky Mattioli I (1979)

We still have the option of the Chris Finnegan fights from last week.
Would be good to see John Conteh as well
And Bob Foster was a beast and their fight was a ring mag FOTY.

I was thinking of having one of those for week 6 and having the other one a month or two later.

M'kay.
Out of the 2 you listed i'd like to see the Stracey v Napoles.

I went with John H. Stracey vs Jose Napoles, because it was one of the first fights suggested in this thread.

Can you do Henry Cooper vs Muhammad Ali 2.
This fight is often forgotten about because of the drama of the first fight.
But it shows one of the greatest boxers ever nearing his prime on these shores. Thanks

I'd rather show the first fight before the 2nd, but we'll see.

As great as that fight was, I'd say it was too recent.

I'm with Horse here.
If I was old enough to get drunk watching it it was too recent (FYI I'm 35)

Is there any reason we can't have a double bill one week?
I know everyone might not have as much fight watching time on their hands as me. But I'd be happy to go for the odd double bill

Jose Napoles vs Ralph Charles fight at Wembley

(Not a suggestion for this week, just adding to the collection)

It's the 52 fight challenge. It's meant to be fairly easy to do, if we start making it two fights a week then it starts to seem like a much more difficult and time consuming task.

I've considered adding a supplementary optional fight every week. The idea was that the extra fight would be considerably less significant (a fight that would be very unlikely to be selected for this thread) and just be a fight to get a bit more knowledge about the fighter's career if people wanted.

Both Cooper vs Ali fights seem too important to shove together in the same week.

Fair doos. :TU:
Just a thought, as I said, realise not everyone has my schedule to fit in old fights

If not too recent (2000), Michael Ayers v Wayne Rigby was a domestic thriller.
Pat Barrett v Efrem Calamati, behind enemy lines smashing.

This has my vote (although admittedly I'm 2 weeks behind on the challenge already, will try to catch-up over the weekend  ).

I wanted to select John Conteh vs Chris Finnegan I as week 6's fight, but I can't find the footage.

Can anyone else find it?
