Fighting over ten rounds to stay busy is perfectly reasonable.
There is a wealth of historical precedence for such fights.
He'll be stripped of his title if he loses, so he's just making his fight less important.
Rigo is awful at marketing himself. Rigo is a fool.
Rigo is undoubtedly a great technician but, to be perfectly honest, 10 rounds can sometimes feel like 30 rounds when he's fighting. I'm glad it's not a 12 rounder.
The why is unknown, just the is, which is the fight has been made a 10 rounder.
I could understand your anger and confusion if it was a 6 or 8 rounder.
But 10 seems fine for this kind of fight, testing the waters in a new country.

2 less rounds = Profit?
For the show overall, yes, most likely. If Rigo says it's 10 or nothing then there's certainly gonna be an upshoot in ticket sales with him being there versus not.

He has to test the waters by taking a couple rounds off the length of the fight?
The chances are that the "why" is stupid, because Rigondeaux makes many bad decisions as far as his career goes.

But, why would he say that?
Rigondeaux is a clueless joker.
I don't know why he'd do that, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility. From his side of things I'm sure he's thinking "If you want me to come over and fight a nobody (from a global perspective), in another country, on someone's undercard, then you do it on my terms"

It's to help him get the Quigg vs Frampton winner. I'd have told him to bugger off.
It was common practice not too long ago for champions to have non title bouts. Chavez loved them. The promoter saves on importing all the officials and not paying sanctioning fees and paying smaller purses. Rigo keeps busy and gets exposure in Frampton/Quigg's backyard. Excellent business decision by Rigo.

Massively reducing the importance of the fight and losing vital publicity and prestige.
I'm still in shock that Rigo is going to fight in Liverpool, Obviously be rooting for Dickens love an underdog and always try and support the local lads but he's just a fighter I would never get to see fight live delighted he is coming!

Who does this guy think he is? Such arrogance.
Who does he think he is? Maybe the best fighter by a distance in the division, and one of the best on the planet?
