Hate On Haymon!!
Why are people continuing to hate on this man? He is giving us Amir Khan to face Canelo while he is still in litigation against Oscar (Y'all know, Saul's Promoter).
The hate is unjustified, if anything we should look at this as an indication of what the future could look like once the legal air is cleared between Haymon and DLH.
Who or which of us would've ever thought we'd be seeing Khan vs Canelo especially at a moment like this in boxing?

But it was negotiated without Haymon and DLH doesn't see it leading to more fights with Haymon fighters.Undefeated49-0 wrote:He is giving us Amir Khan to face Canelo while he is still in litigation against Oscar

The answer you're looking for is because he's black.
The actual answer is people criticize his matchmaking. That doesn't mean they hate him.

People are too hysterical these days.
Person 1 "I don't agree with X"
Person 2 "You're a hater"
P1 "No, I just disagree with that particular viewpoint"
P2 "Hater!!!"

He has given us some damn good match ups for free, some top level fighters are there making it happen and he's doing far more than Oscar or Arum is doing yet you think this has something to do with race (the answer you're looking for).punchoutsb wrote:The answer you're looking for is because he's black.

It's sad that in this day and age of people complaining that boxing is dying we have one man giving it to us for free and we're still complaining.
We're about to get Canelo vs Khan in the midst of a hotly contested, high dollar legal battle and it still is unappreciated. So called "boxing fans" these days are so ungrateful, I'm grateful I grew up in the era where we had ABC Wide World of Sports so for me this is like a flashback to that time.
We have young up and coming fighters being given a chance to get some notice and we have a few fighters that are more publicly known because of Haymon and still it's unappreciated.
Re: Hate On Haymon!!
Haymon gave us this fight? Bahaha, thats a good one. Got another jokes tonight?
Haymon had NOTHING to do with this fight being made and even said so himself.

The whole point of you making this thread is to try and get people to pat you on the back and say everyone hates Al because he's black; we get it.Undefeated49-0 wrote:He has given us some damn good match ups for free, some top level fighters are there making it happen and he's doing far more than Oscar or Arum is doing yet you think this has something to do with race (the answer you're looking for).punchoutsb wrote:The answer you're looking for is because he's black.

It is sad that people complain so much. It is especially sad when people complain about whether or not people they don't know appreciate and heap adoration on someone else they don't know.
I watch all the PBC cards because I love boxing. That doesn't mean Al Haymon is infallible; he's put of some dire shite but I still watch. I'm glad to have boxing on TV. I'd prefer to see more good matchups, but it is what it is. I seriously doubt anyone you have in mind here on boxrec hates Al Haymon. I also don't think there is a problem with criticizing crappy matchmaking and wanting more.

But thanks for proving my point
Re: Hate On Haymon!!
I guess we have different definitions of "damn good matchups". Some of his fights have been decent on paper and some turned out better than expected as far as action, but I can't think of a single fight he has made that made that was on my list of "fights I want to see". In fact, issues with him have been the reason the many fights I really want to see aren't being made. Take Jacobs-Quillen for example. While a good matchup on paper, I would have rather seen either of those guys as opponents for GGG, Canelo, or Cotto. Same thing with Porter Thurman. It is an ok fight, but I would rather have seen Thurman fight Garcia, Kahn, Brook, Spence, Pac, Bradley ect. He never makes the fights you really want to see.Undefeated49-0 wrote:He has given us some damn good match ups for free, some top level fighters are there making it happen and he's doing far more than Oscar or Arum is doing yet you think this has something to do with race (the answer you're looking for).punchoutsb wrote:The answer you're looking for is because he's black.

As far as it being "free" that is completely irrelevant. I (am probably every boxing fan) already pay for HBO and Showtime, so how does it being on NBC benefit me? It doesn't.
I also don't know what fighters are becoming more publicly known.

In regards to free, the fights aren't typically free here in the UK, so them being free to US viewers means nothing to me.

The fighters that are young and up and comers that no one would hear of otherwise are making a name for themselves. When i was young we knew who the Frank "the Animal" Fletchers were of our time because they fought on free TV.jockpunk wrote:I guess we have different definitions of "damn good matchups". Sure I won't argue that every match is who we want to see go against one another but if you claim that you're a boxing fan then you should certainly be able to appreciate it being there for virtually free (if you had to see these fighters on PPV or undercards for a major PPV event).
I just don't get it that boxing fans aren't excited and thankful for this (PBC).
Re: Hate On Haymon!!
I am a flip flopper of the worst kind when it comes Haymon. One day I hate him, the next I don't.
The 1st year of the PBC sucked. Free or not, I don't give a shiit. I'll pay money to see good boxing and couldn't care less about a free show or if little Eddie watches boxing for the first time because it's on NBC and it's free. The guy has almost ALL of the talent under his banner, he needs to now show us what this is all about. Year two is supposed to be the hook year and I'm going into it with an open mind.
Like we all should until he under delivers. Then we can all jump on him for it.

Who or which of us would've ever thought we'd be seeing Khan vs Canelo especially at a moment like this in boxing?
Danny Garcia's career was at an all time high in 2013 following his win over Matthysse, Haymon has since squandered almost every damn bit of that momentum in the 2 years since by having him fight lesser competition than Matthysse in every single fight since then.
Peter Quillin stood a chance to get his best payday against Korobov, and instead was advised to drop his belt by Haymon. Since this he has fought no hopers, Drawn with Andy Lee, and been stopped in 1 round by Danny Jacobs. A few years ago Everyone was calling for GGG vs Quillin and it was the fight people wanted to see most at Middleweight. Now people don't even give a damn about Quillin anymore. Thanks to Al.
Mickey Bey dropped the one and only belt he's ever going to have (which he didn't deserve in the first place because he received it on a Gift Decision) because Haymon didn't want him to defend against Denis Shafikov. Mickey Bey is boring as hell. The only thing that was ever gonna get this guy a significant fight was that belt he had, and he gave it up. So his career is basically ruined now. Thanks to Al.
Deontay Wilder won the WBC Title against Bermane Stiverne. So hooray we're finally gonna see Wilder start fighting solid competition right? No...instead he just lowered the WBC Title to it's lowest point perhaps ever by defending against opponents who weren't even ranked in the Top 20 in Molina and Duhaupas, and then to step it up a bit off of that. He fights a guy who is MAYBE Top 15 in Szpilka and loses almost every round before catching and stopping him. I'm pretty sure like Bey and Quillin he will be the next guy to be "Advised" to drop his belt rather than defend against his mandatory Povetkin which will permanently tarnish his reputation and leave him branded as the biggest coward in the Heavyweight division...now the good news is Al still hasn't done this yet so there's still hope, but given his track record...not much of it.
