Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
Yeah not the best fight and I say that as a big Ortiz fan.
Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
I had totally forgotten about Dimitrenko. Ustinov, despite probably being less skilled, would've been better due to his greater durability and seemingly stronger mentality; whereas I believe that he would've had a go at it I think that Dimitrenko is going to fold up and go down early.

Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
Dimitrenko was never any good, but why is he past it? Ustinov seemed worse the one time I watched him against Barrett. No power.
Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
After the Pulev beating he was getting dropped by nobodies like Ivica Perkovic and Samir Kurtagic. He came back from over two years of inactivity about 6 months ago and I'd be very surprised if he's near his peak form.
He's more skilled than Ustinov but I think he'd be an easier opponent for Ortiz.

Ustinov said not enough time, Haye just fought last week. Nobody would take the fight with 4 weeks prep. Briggs only wants a cash out.Freedom2013 wrote:Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko March 5 HBO.

Dimitrenko at this point in his career is a weak opponent, to bad they couldn't get someone decent like Pulev, Ustinov, Takam or Haye. Even Shannon Briggs would be better.

Cool, they're both on my do not watch list. Most heavies are. I like Ortiz tho, so I'll watch this.

Big step down from Jennings. Despite looking like Ivan Drago, Dimitrenko got dropped and dominated by the light-punching blown up cruiserweight, Eddie Chambers while in his prime. Ortiz will wreck him and probably early.

Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
Ortiz don't have time to wait to big opponents/fight and risk it to have one fight a year! He's 36 yo, that earned peanuts till now and have 2-3 years at most to put some cash into bank...Freedom2013 wrote:Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko March 5 HBO.

So he'll take whatever his team could arrange fast.
Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
That would be disappointing. Ortiz has lot to offer. Could not they make a deal with Pulev. Now that would be the fight to watch.

Dimitrenko was also after Wilder, saying he should fight someone his own size, but indeed, Dimitrenko is not ready for this.

Dimitrenko will shock the world, when he stops the roided King King the first six rounds!

Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
he could certainly have taken a duller fight, like malik scott or Thompson or one of those dull ones.
as it is, the dimitrenko fight might at least have a bit of excitement in comparison.
but dimitrenko is incredible fragile for such a huge guy.
hes fast...moves around well though....but I see the fight like this....dimi comes out fast tries some big bombs...if they don't work he will run a bit and figure out whether to go the distance or not...it all depends on whether Ortiz can get to him.
Dimitrenko's biggest flaw is his unwillingness to throw combinations.

Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
So now Alexander Dimitrenko will not be fighting Luis Ortiz after all.
Ortiz and Golden Boy are once again searching for an opponent for March 5.

Re: Luiz Ortiz vs. Alexander Dimitrenko
That fight would have been pointless. Of course boxing is pretty much pointless for the most part anyway. Would have fit into the sport perfectly.
